Destroyers - restrict them to PvE and Open Space

I have finally a destroyer now! And they are xxxx!!! Yes ,thats true, your feared destros are complete and utter xxxx. Tey are unable to strafe, and its a pain to manouvre them since they dont follow the same logic of movement as the other ships. Its true you kill everything, but thats no good if u struggle to get where you want to go.

SO, make destros easier to fly, then u can complain. As now, only an insane masochsist will fly these bricks in Space!

Yeah, they dont follow the same logic of movenent, reason why its so hard for you (cause you have no practice). It has a different logic for its good reason; if you master it, you will get the best of the destroyer…or you can fly it like a frig and waste some turrets. As every ship, you need to learn to fly it. Destroyers arent an exception.

Well, with the CTRL button it is fairly easy to position yourself with a destroyer, then switch back to free aim and use I turrets at the same time.

The only difficult task is to get used to how forward speed works, and why is it such a good thing when used together with free aim.

Well, we can mention how to use properly tempest to throw the 20 missiles on a destroyer, but here it’s more specific.

Anyway back on the topic :

I love destroyers, and I find SC much funnier with them. Destroyers are fine IMO

What’s wrong with SC is the pull mechanic, which is really, REALLY disturbing.

Funy fact is that they plan on adding a repulsor beam on destroyers, and it’ll probably QQ more because of it.

by pull you mean black hole?
I like destroyers because they offer a complete new way to fly. In order to master it you need to focus on other aspects such as rolling, AB use (therefore energy), doing broadside properly at the right time (you wont chase a ship by doing broadside), the energy rerouting (although it seems like guard’s phase shield), the focus on firing while moving (something like a tank: you dont stop firing to dodge), using the proper position to fire certain modules, (mod) turret turn speed reintroduction, etc. The ctrl feature is really helpful specially when your camera is twisted and need to reorient, cause flying the destroyer upside down is really complicated (further more with high ping).

I didn’t get any trouble to master dest but i think that probaly the ship wich i feet the best with (thx to x3 for that) but cmon dessy are soo much fun to fight or to fight with, that by far the best new content of sc, many player join the game because of them even me, i came back to sc when i heard that a new class of ship Will be availble, i Will not play sc if dest wasn’t here. So no need to do any thing to them or at least wait for the t5 to be release #teamdestroyer ![:p](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/004.png “:p”)

I mean stuff that attract (or push) you to something. Not only black hole.

Reaper also have something similar.

As far a destroyers ruining top tier game play as it is. I have been matched up against a lot of r11 dessies and every ship in my load out is r15. Releasing the R-14s will give me something to counter the r11s that I commonly see.

I do not have an r11 because I am waiting for the r14’s. When I made my r-8, a week later or less they released r-11s. I wasted $300 USD approx to get an R-11 and I was still short. Now that I have enough to make an R-11 i see r-14’s. I am not gonna make the same mistake again. So with holding the R-14s is like stealing $300 bucks and all my time to save up materials, plus the 20k gold Iam sitting on.

It wouldn’t be so bad if their abilities had friendly fire.

As for friendly fire, black hole effect friendlies. Also i get team killed often when teammates jump in from me when I am firing tempest or halo launcher. We dont need any more nerfs. I am so sick of you cry babies asking to nerf everything.

If you Don’t like Desies, master the ECM. Desie pilots hate ECM’s

If I was anyone else who wrote this i would get support, but I am certain I am gonna get hate.

friendly fire is only a nerf if there is a lack of intelligence in the environment, and I’m talking support weapons.

A lot of low intelligence and cheap tactics could be completely removed from the field of competitive play with the simple introduction of friendly fire on aoe abilities. It would also introduce value for formational tactics and would define big ship and little ship engagements.

But you would only see this sort of fun to watch definition manifest in much larger scale battles.  50v50 dreadnought battles when?

was time that someone speak it out clearly. destroyers killed the formerly existing game balance in pvp.

in pve or open they dont bother me as i do no pve and no open. so a good idea to restrict use of in pvp

many thx for this post.

We should restrict Engineers to PvE only - in PvP they are annoying, they don’t let enemies dies - and that is the opposite what Arcade fun is - everyone should die!

I totally agree Kosty! And we should restrict heals and resistance and all MP mods too because it all makes perfect sense!! ![:D](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/006j.png “:D”)

Yaay a cake! Ty koro ^^

Destroyers would be much more tolerable if their mobility was restricted to be lesser than that of frigates and their insane durability was reduced atleast by some. My biggest gripe is how I can no longer use a frigate in combat recon when chosen as the captain because at any time I might have a destroyer teleporting nearby and popping up a blackhole somewhere in my vicinity; unless I have a bunch of vigilant ECMs, Cov Ops and engis around me, it’s game over then and there.

Were it up to me to decide, I’d do following adjustments to the destroyers…

-Add a hard speed cap of 300.

-Reduce speed bonuses of all energy router variants.

-Reduce hull durability by atleast 25%.

-Reduce hull and shield resistances by 30.

-Reduce Static Barrier size and durability slightly, and make destroyers unable to fire through them.

-Reduce Wormhole Generator range to 2 km.

-Reduce Gravi Lens duration and make it do full self/team damage, or no damage at all.

-Increase Photon Emitter reload time and halve the duration of residual effect.

-Remove disabling effect duration multiplier.

-Change warp speed to the standard.

You know that dessy Will depend of the pilot ship build right?

Dear lord, the bashing in here xD

Destroyers are fun, hype is over, they got balanced, it’s okay now, you can come out.

The answer is no, no, and no… plus, an “are you kidding?”

If ANYONE thinks r14 destroyers will “mess the T5 PvP” … they must be pretty bad at this game, to be honest.

1st: Destroyers are tough, high firepower, yes, but a little interceptor Covert Ops can mess a destroyer pretty badly, and I’ll tell you more, people play more for themselves in PvP rather than work together towards the goal. #teamwork

2nd: I really believe most of you are adults and have a nice pay, right? Ok, but when you realize farming Open Space for materials is a slow progress towards destroyer production, have you people ever thought: Why use these hours to farm materials when I can just pay for it? If you consider you can spend 4-8 hours farming, working for a minimum wage ($7.25/hr) that same time, it would be $58 a day. So, if instead of crying because mining is too slow and that stuff, why not just work 2 or 3 days, and spend some money in the game??? TIME IS NOT REFUNDABLE!! Work, earn money, spend it, enjoy. And consider this: many of you spend hundreds on cheap CoD games or consoles or even clothes, so spending some $100 on GS to buy materials for destroyers, is simply worth it if you think on the time you are spending mining.

3rd: Koromac proposed a price of 500+ euros for r14 destroyers… Koromac, I’m sorry, but devs know that even r14 destroyers can be dealt with in a couple of seconds with a simple interceptor or a good team. They know it, and they know the value of those destroyers is not even that high.

Remember, this game relies heavily on teamwork, and class execution. If you have a destroyer, you know your role: keep the shots commin’… if you have a tackler: pursue interceptors; LRF? Sniping; Guards? debuff and be the shields of a squadron. Covert Ops? attack and bye bye. Recon? scout enemy positions, plant beacons, spy drones, and get out. Gunships? Fight against other fighters and deal heavy blows in a matter of seconds, helping tacklers too. (and I’m not a developer, but it doesn’t take any special degree or a PhD to understand how devs intended this game to work) It is just as simple! Fighters help each other to fight inties, frigates help each other to fight against frigates and destroyers, destroyers beat down frigates and destroyers, and inties mess up the big guys.

Anyone, see any unbalanced issue here? I don’t. I only see selfish people that don’t attain to their ship roles and teamwork, and they complain if they lose. PLAYERS UNBALANCE THEMSELVES. So answering almost everything, destroyers ain’t OP, destroyers do NOT mess up PvP, and destroyers improve the game.

Plus, its not even logic that there are no bigger ships than destroyers on a game where the year/date is 4500+ something… Gonna be waiting for bigger ships ![:p](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/004.png “:p”)(think about it, 3 inties, 3 fighters, 3 frigates, … just 1 huge ship class? lets see what other nice surprises they have for us ![:D](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/006j.png “:D”) )

(quite a few things)

I agree on most of what you say. Although i would like to put a bit more of contrast to the part of paying money; in the case of people who work, you arent thinking all the time the amount of money you get per hours worked…there are more factors, like resting (i rest when i play, even when its farming), amount of money you have to spend in your RL (which in many cases you cant simply work a few extra hours and skip that farming in SC), etc. I think its better seing this as a matter of priorities and options: depending on the value you assign to each “cost” and how much you have to deal with all those expenses, you determinate what to go for and what not (or do later).

Uh NO!!!  OP, your targeting the wrong part of the game to fix destroyer matchmaking.

A more logical fix would be to fix matchmaking itself. When there is one destroyer on one team, MM needs to make sure the opposite team has a player with a destroyer. Or if that isn’t possible, lock out destroyers until a person with a destroyer in their ship list comes out on the opposite end of the team.

Meanwhile PvE and co-op are fine.

It would be absolutely terrible to get rid of destroyers for PvP. No fun at all!

However, I do vote for buffing frigates if it’s necessary.
