What Happened to the Destroyers?

I hate destroyers, about half year of op, now game is good balanced, destroyers still have it’s most important strong thing - supporting modules, long range weapon and more dmg than lot of lrf’s. Most imortant is  they’re not faster than frigates and imperial fighters now. Getting it is easier now, not one year collecting parts as before. It’s easy to build r8 now. It’s one of my fav patches.  ![:)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001j.png “:)”)

I love how the patch discussion has already been pretty much completed without a patch discussion thread. That aside, I feel like this was maybe going too far. However, imo, an overnerf is better than an undernerf, so long as it is then followed by a buff to compensate. Perhaps changing it to x2 damage up close, but 1/2 damage from afar or something like that. I really don’t know as I’ve never flown a destroyer in my life.

Basically what happening now:

Dessy haters: muhahaha this patch is awesome!

Dessy pilot’s: wtf is this s*** about?!

Now I wonder witch side dev’s will chose… 

 

Civil war.

Rather than this illogical close range damage multiplier of 2.5, destroyers should just be adjusted to have less hull and shield volume. I’m not entirely against this kind of damage bonus that interceptors can easily make use of, but it shouldn’t be more than 25%.

Devs Idea of “Balance”. Destroyers are useless now compared to any other ship really, some ships are still broken asf *cough* TharGah *cough*. If people honestly believe a interceptor being equal to a Destroyer is balance, this game is honestly dead in the water already, like have we all dropped our standards that low for these failure updates already?

LoL i just thought about the same thing,at least this year i can do the sp ships since the elly ones are about xenos and stuff YAY

also here’s a joke, Yo dessy got nerfed soo hard, having tripple a guards HP just means getting tripple the damage hahaha

Alright, back after paying a few more destroyer games.

  1. The 2.5x dmg against DDs at 750m or less is GOOD. Keep that for sure.

  2. Nerf ALL modules to NOT have 2.5x. Currently, covert ops can kill me in two swoops with their sword thingy. Only guys and missles have 2.5x capability.

  3. Bring speed back to non nerfed states. It’s seriously hampering my ability to dodge incoming fire.

How the 2.5x dmg can be good?! It ruin the idea of taking time building a dessy

Really though. Destroyers are basically only remotely useful in PvE now.

Correct. Turtles are indeed dessy killers even more so now.

Let me explain:

Pre patch 1.4.0 destroyers were INDEED OP. They were way to tough for even several players to punch thru without coordinating very well. They needed a nerf.

Patch 1.4.0, destroyers are now nerfed too much. To the point where it can’t be compensated by the pilot.

My proposal, balance out the nerfs and buffs. Return speed to pre patch 1.4.0, but KEEP the damage increase at close range, this way pilots do have a chance to seriously wound to kill a destroyer. It’s more balanced and will work best I believe.

2 entire days of farming killing dessy

Ok, so I’ve finally found a config that works best with Invincible for this patch:

The Sniper Build:

  1. Coilgun

  2. Horizon Module.

  3. 2nd rank implant that increases radar detection and optimal gun range.

  4. Uranium Shells.

  5. Repair Drones.

Basically, you NEED to create as small of a blip on enemy’s eyes as possible. Shields and lazer/EM weapons will expose you and make more enemies come toward you. Stay on the EXTREME range of your guns at ALL times. Get too close to front lines and your dead. Use your empire firepower ability to compensate for reduced firepower from uranium and horizon module.

This build has been working really well so far. However, I’m finding it difficult to find a use for the EM and ESPECIALLY Meson cannon. Anybody want to share their best builds around the other primary weapons?

I’d say to have 175% explosion damage, and 2x damage at close range on destroyers.

That is prob one of the most depressing posts I’ve read, i pray for sarcasm. Destroyers should not be treated as equals with any other ship, the time taken to build them and the resources put forward should give them a different status than just another ship. I didn’t spend over a month grinding a max rank destroyer just to have it be useless to almost every other ship, and pretty much get wiped in around 10 seconds by a sudden new God ship that supports all roles on it’s own, aka the TharGah. Devs have proven they are not testing this and just are after money purely now, like common what kind of sane Dev would drop these kinda “Balances” into a multi year game…

Seriously, destroyers are still very, very strong. You simply cannot dive right into the enemy spawn and expect to live anymore. I’ve had no troubles with flying a destroyer after the patch so far.

And I absolutely adore how fast they die to a Phaser Bubble, if they get too close.

The incredible firepower at range and the modules are still unmatched. No other ship in the game can do, what a destroyer is capable of. Black Holes, Photons, sh*itton of damage, range, Static Shields. This hasnt gone, just because they started to be killable.

Idk how to tell you this but you have to grind over a month for every T5 ship so there is nothing special about dessie, besides it can create 8km nope zone, still is harder to kill than normal ship, has superior dmg, teleport, blackhole and few more denial/high dmg stuff

@The guy complaining about speed nerf “cos I can’t dodge incoming fire anymore!” - Dude why are you flying a destroyer? If you want to dodge incoming fire then fly a ceptor.
