What Happened to the Destroyers?

Excellent nerf is excellent. Given that destroyers used to be able to deny multiple beacons by camping in the right spot, they really needed to be beaten down. Now, an incoming cov-ops is instant death. It’s glorious.

You mean G’Thar’Du? Yeah, I’m on my way to get the T5 one to Mk.4, pretty fun, but not too useful in tight spaces ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Problem is that now it’s always instant death whatever you do.

A combination of Tackler and Recon can defend a Destroyer quite good. The module and weapons are still quite strong or stronger then before, you just can’t use the destroyer anymore as a close quarter tank.

For those that don’t read patchnotes: If you get within 750m of a destroyer you do 3x damage do it.

And also how are they supposed to be careful when they are basically just stationary objects now.

Ridicules is : a single cov-ops interceptor blowing up a huge mass of a destroyer - fly a circle and kill another!!! That is BS.

Why to have any destroyer now? Why to grind for any destroyer now?

Even Federation dessys in OpenSpace are useless because of the speed nerf - ultra-nerf!

Alas, the speed nerf is reasonable but - as a Federation flyer of destroyers in Open Space - it hurts, because I build mine for OS missions!!

Yes idiotic to nerf them that much now and have missions against them - and that they introduced the ugly OP Tharga – idiotic!

Destroyers need nerf but not on this way :(.

on T3 , its only a few fix to do , the T3 were pretty well balanced .

the few things to changes :

  • nerf Pyro emetter ( less 10-20% )

  • alien weapon , the gravi-anomaly stay only 0.5-1 sec , to avoid useless spaming Balls on beacon for example

on T4

  • the same as T3 and nerf the lens anomaly module

on T5

  • all modules , stat and weapon like this vaccum lazer need to be balance .

 

the bad idea with this patch .

nerf Fed. agility , hum…hum… its like after 5 years , the dev. forgetten all storyline from the factions . if i play with Fed. ships i don’t want to have on the hands an impire ships .

The Halo weapon , having a good dps with AOE effect , why grow up more the outcome DPS …Oo …

Try to get close to my short range crit vigilant and you will have a bad time even with these nerfs, also get close or overly aggressive with one against me, same thing happens all over again. It’s the know-how that gives you the edge and general skill over time. 

As I always said to people asking “whats the most OP ship in the game” in whisper mode, standard ships. If you don’t learn anything from standard ships you wont learn it anywhere else, ever.
Invest in SP ships for good reason and then go for the bling-bling premium ships and stuff. Destroyers are a variation of sp ships in a way and require now a bit more than point and shoot, a bit more awareness which in turn will filter the less skilled players from a bit more skilled ones.

That’s just stupid

I don’t mind the frailness…much…however destroyers NEED their speed back and need a boost to both the amount of shields and drones they can carry. This way it’s more skill based on the player and you can still perform well.

I’d also recommend that the static shields get a blast buff, meaning that they can shield the player from 50% of the blast damage of any weapons. PLUS block anomaly generators. (those things are the worst for destroyers right now.)

I’m gona try playing exclusively Invincible in PvP and continue to see if whether ALL these nerfs are good or not. If I can overcome these nerfs with skill, then great! Devs did exactly what they needed to do.

The point of destroyers is that  THEIR destroyers!!

BTW devs, the Meson Cannon is now officially useless. Since you need to get close to use it effectively. Can we get a buff to the density of the guns?

I never built a Destroyer, didn’t like them from the start and I am so happy about this patch.

For starters stop using Curved reflector on your mesons

Use the Flat reflector instead

imho explosive weapons should not get 2.5 modifier in close range, it amplifies dmg through the roof and they were already almost great at taking down destroyers. In the same time with the fact it is so easy to take down a destroyer, re-spawn timer should be considerably reduced so is repair cost

Yes I agree. Destroyer needs to be like a normal ship, just bigger. Now that they are killable, they should indeed get normal respawn times and repair costs, and I’m fine with there being an unlimited number of destros in each match as well.

I haven’t used explosive weapons in a very long time. Is there still the self-harm thing? If there is then to get the 2.5 bonus you will damage yourself getting so close, which is fair. If not then yes I agree they should not get so much bonus, since they are so good at killing modules and get a default bonus already for being explosive. Maybe 1.5 or even none.

Most dangerous to a destroyer close range explosive weapons are Singularities, Phaser’s slow charge, Phase suppressor and Kinetic Supercharger.

If you are going to dmg yourself in close range, that will come from your missiles

Yeah, explosive weapons are insanely powerful against destroyers now. That’s absurd.
