This game looks amazing. Why so few players?

I don’t understand. This game is the most beautiful space game I have ever played. It has countless number of ships weapons and stuff. I come from Eve online, World of tanks and Ghost recon online.

It should have more players than world of tanks. Yet it has much less, why?

I really hope gaijin is planning to make some serious advertisement around this game like their wargaming counterpart. This game deserves attention

Hello and welcome to Star Conflict.

Yes the game brings a lot of fun and there will be some advertisement in the future, but at the moment it is in beta and there is still some work left

See you in Space!

Yup, this game is great! It has pretty decent graphics and what’s more important battles provide so much fun for me!

This game is cool but matchmaking just ends up putting me with all bots, no matter what game mode I select. It’s during the busiest hours on the internet here in North America, and there are only 71 people playing Star Conflict right now. :frowning:

During the main time we have 300-500 people online, but this is at the evening in russia because most players are russians.

Any chance you guys can get this game on Steam?

Any chance you guys can get this game on Steam?

Perhaps in the future, but not now.

I came to this game by google. Do you guys though to place yourself on list on other portals, like mmorpg.com ? I was looking there for some new mmo for couple weeks, failed to find and then luckly google took me here:D

Even though I got into the closed beta I never bothered getting the game running because every time I tried I found that the loader crashed part way through or was incredibly slow. I’ve just decided to give it another go since it has been some time since I last tried.

This game needs 3 things to be “popular” (as a beta)

  1. Detailed English description! - Descriptions in skill tree are useless. Wiki is non-existent, And most of players can’t communicate in languages other than Russian(I’m so happy to know some basics of Russian :P) so there’s no way to figure things out other than painful “trials and errors”

Don’t get my wrong, Error U’r doing epic work as Mod, but it’s log way from being enough. Hire someone to run that Wiki or give all the text to player for translation.

  1. Clear development plan! Quite a lot of people who I know to download the game, logs in “once in a month” to see what has changed. Devs give no info about upcoming patches and changes, so why bother checking the game regularly when I can log and play for an hour or two and than go back to any other fully developed MMO until I get bored again?

  2. Reconsider what do you expect from beta. U implemented payment system…but didn’t create a suable friend/squad manager until a week ago?! that’s a good joke ! Seriously, if you need founds for development, give everybody ability to create full squads, and let’s say 100 gold per week. So people can try out gold ships, and modules, and invite as many friends as possible to play with.

Fill the two requests from above( English info and development plan) and give extra ship skins and stickers for Donators only. I’m convinced that it would work much better! This is early Beta, so treat it that way.

If U find my criticism too rough, please forgive me, it’s not not my point.

U have a wonderful game in your hands, and I hope all that’s best for It, that’s why I don’t hold back writing this post. The social side of game is as much of an importance as balanced MM, dynamism of game play or fixing the plasma weapon projectile speed/damage ratio.

Ps.

Sorry for my “Ingrisz” it’s not my native language.

Hello,

thanks for your feedback.

  1. The skill tree won’t get any improvement because it will be completly reworked. This is already known since some time and we should get it somewhere at the beginning of the new year.

For the wiki there is already someone who will continue it, but at the moment there are some things in game that need to be translated first.

2)There is a game developement plan what will be done in a longer time and every week there are some news in the Developer blog about what will be in the next patch.

3)About this we need to see what can be sold for Gold without making non Gold players feel bad.

I hope you enjoy the game and see you in space.

I think, that it should have more “marketing”, on MMO Portals, FB and more, cos srsly, theres is only 2 other MMOs SF flying in space game - Eve Online, but Eve and this game are 2 very different things. Eve is more target, skills, economy, etc and this is non-target shooter. Second is BSGO, but mechanic there is awfull (but they got universum and more “open” world). I was looking for that kind of game like this, for quite a while, so why so little of marketing? Even when its only beta?

More Beta players = more feedback, and more shop activity, bigger english speaking community, and thats important too for lots of us.

You want marketing? go to infinity universe website, and advertise about this in the off-topic other game forum. you will get almost all 5-6 million there to come here, because this game is very close to that one (Even though its still in early development stages) The game looks great, but it does not have any playable content yet (IE, its not even in alpha).

That will give you an EASY 200-300k.

btw i agree, it needs marketing, but i think the game should hold for 2-3 more content patches for that. i would like to see

Mods balanced

Skill tree reworked

atleast 2 new ship classes (destroyer/cruiser maybe?).

Inteceptors and support ships need to be worked out so that putting spy drones or healing, gives participation points.

before serious advertising is done. honestly the game is not ready for it. I also feel we should work on making the races more universally appealing, I put some posts out about changing the mods/ships, also

Ahhh…Infinite Development…

Also, those in Star Citizens will be a good advertising target as well I guess

I think Star Citizen aiming bit different market. Here we have full arcade system but there we should expect space-sim combat style wich will be more complicated to use. It is no better-worse categories - just different :).

Do game have some anti-cheat system implemented? I fell bit worried after chasing fighter around whole map on my interceptor without chance to get closer to him…

The primary issues of this game are as follows in order according to its seriousness

  • Module Balance : This game badly needs a buff to things like tanking concepts, and weapons costing energy (Energy is the key to making this an great game, rather then a good game.

  • Advertisement I feel that if i was to change anything after the above, it would be getting more people to the game. Since if been here a week iv noticed a jump to near double in population; but its no where close to “desired levels”.

  • Community development : this game badly lacks a serious form of community support. Things like larger squads, and clans. There is a mechanic at the moment that requires subscription to invite more then 2 people to group, this is a terrible mechanic, and it needs to be removed. Communities are the foundation of a game; if they are successfully supported, the game will be successful.

- Item Ship Plan: The game badly needs a plan for making lots of income for the game, via graphical related upgrades, rather then weapons. I believe that the gold weapons in the game are good. I have a great fear that at some point those item shop weapons or modules will become over-powered, causing a great benefit to individuals paying; This will ultimately lead to the downfall of this game. so we need to develop a means to make the game make money in a great amount, but one that will not destroy the games atmosphere by giving unfair advantage to those who just happen by chance to have more money then others.

  • Module Balance : This is as task which is dealt with all the time and we should see more improvements soon.

  • Advertisement This will be done at the right time.

  • Community development : Clans will be introduced very soon.

- Item Ship Plan: There will be more grafic related upgrades in the future. There will always be weapons which are available through the in game shop or loot which are equal to the gold weapons.

Your commitment to the community is amzing mate, we need someone like you on warthunder forums :yes_yes:

Things I really like about this game: the awesome eye & ear candy, the user interface and the interaction & support on these forums. Those alone should go a fair way towards attracting players.

In my opinion It needs, once its out of beta, to be on Steam.

As I touched on in another thread, the gameplay could also be improved. My background is in flight sims and also Moon Breakers, both of which offer the ability for reflex & aerobatic stunt based flying - whereas this really does not. From what I’ve seen in Star Conflict, you get within range then just start clicking to shoot until one or the other dies. Maneuverability is too sluggish to evade enemy fire, you have no limited-fuel afterburners to escape a bad situation (or make yourself hard to hit), and asteroids are too thinly spread to play much of a role - there’s no clusters of smaller rocks to use for cover & hide and seek tactics. Hence (and please correct me if I’m wrong) it seems to me that combat does not depend on piloting ability but rather on who has the bigger guns/shields, with big slow ships pounding each other until one cracks.

This I believe will serve to keep dogfighting enthusiasts away, whereas you have the groundwork for a game that could really grab their interest. It wouldn’t take much of a change either, just the introduction of a smaller, faster & more nimble ship class in addition to the existing ones. A frigate would be able to blow them up quickly - if they can hit them - whereas they’d be able to harass and nip at the heels of the large ships as well as engaging each other in full-on dogfights with all the flying tactics that implies.

I guess what I’m saying is that the core gameplay - the flying and shooting - needs to be as varied and compelling as possible to make it fun for a wide range of gamers. This obviously includes getting the balance between ship/weapon types right, ensuring that lower tier ships have a fighting chance against higher tiers if flown well, and that the game doesn’t become pay-to-win. In this regard, well, the game isn’t there yet. I agree with other posters who’ve said that developing PvE, expanding to an open universe, including Trading and *yawn* Mining etc will not only detract from perfecting the core gameplay, it could distract from it and ruin the game. Many people will want to login, choose a ship, then get into a epic fight alongside (or against) their buddies or rival clans. Get that right and players will come.

Anyway, that’s my view for what its worth. I’ll be following the game with interest, playing a bit after each update and hoping to see it fulfill its undoubted potential.

I think you’re being a bit subjective there. Personally, I find the flying mechanics, especially in fighters, to be the most fun I’ve had flying about. It’s true, some more complex maneuvers could be stabbed at with sharper, more nimble controls. But at that point, the turning would be too tight, and it wouldn’t feel like you’re flying in space. At times playing the game, I enjoy the flying around more than shooting, even if it means I get blown up! In regards to the lack of maneuverability to avoid fire, that’s bunk. I’ve had on-the-edge-of-my-seat dogfights against other fighters, trying to out fly each other while still landing hits.

There’s only a single map I can think of where there isn’t sufficient obstacles to avoid fire, but that just gives me an opportunity for a different playing style.

I think the mechanics are there, they’re smooth and graceful, but perhaps there /should/ be a weaker class of fighter (if inters were more maneuverable, it’s be stupid) that’s a lot more nimble, sharper turns and all, to cater to players who simply prefer that. The Empire’s could be retrofitted civi ships or something.
