I’m not going to use the Drones in PvP because I want to be actually useful and slow my enemies, but if they are that OP it’d be as easy as put a constant energy consumption on the drones, so Tacklers using both wouldn’t be able to perma afterburn (or at least it would be harder) with the Cruise Engine.
Didn’t the drone drain energy per second in the old days before introducing the heavy one ?
Or at least the tooltip said so, but when I tried it in game I did not notice it doing so.
2 options :
1*. Tackler needs to be in the firing range of the drone, so they can function or they are going offline.
Drain energy from the tackler, while the drones are active.
*example : In another game there is a character that places drones/turrets. While he is around the turrets are online and even have buffs. While he is outside of range the drones shut down and are essentially non-existent until he comes back in range to activate them.
This will help the role - suppress inti engines and kill them with drones and main weapon, but give a chance to inti that manages to get away with all those slows.
Also pooping 2 drones and running away will not be an option. Maybe drone and cloak, but stay around will be.
Wow now the Drone debate has really risen to a feverous pitch due to the increase number of people using them…
As always “Purist” feel for some reason or another that you should only be killed in a “SKILLFUL” way. Helloooo - Warefare evolves as with technology and weaponary…
As for myself I see no difference between shooting a Homing or a guided missile and a drone… as they require a LOCK on target…
so are the folks hating on use of the drones due to lack of skill requirement saying we should have only guns and unguided missiles since they require SKILL to use ?

missiles have a limited number per cartridge and need a long time to reload per cartridge and do relatively low damage in comparrision
i never thought the day would come where the invincible stationary tackler drones would get such a backlash
admitted, nobody needed them to actually be buffed, and what looks controversial to me is the weapon spread being removed on the heavy one.
but really, coming up solutions how to nerf the evil no-skill-needed ferocious dark camping drone of hell? really?
kill the tackler, who spams them. he lacks survival modules to escape tackling or lacks tackling modules to deal with ecms/ceptors, and its time that people start to use recons more efficiently again anyway.
I am pretty certain, I have seen newly joined players, still just in tier 1, with only a couple of ships, BUY T5 premiums and join T5 matches, just like that.
They have only just joined, have only a hand full of battles, yet have instant access to all the implants. They lack teh game knowledge to compete in T5, they lack teh income to get beyond white weapons etc…

+1 I agree with you everry… Drone never seem to shoot at me, anyway I always use an overclocked CPU because I like .5 sec lock time on target because I switch target all the time. Anyway, be it drone from tackler or engi, they never seem to be an issue for me as they die really quickly to gauss (1 hit, 2 max) or melt to rails.
I did. He was useless most of the time, even if he was in a wpk squad. A standard build Wolf is much more powerful.
It is like the 700 m/s sai. It is viable, and for detonation games it is hilarious. But seriously…
even? I wouldn’t say that those couple of games where i play in a corp that is usually my enemy and i know nothing about is hardly a good point of reference
It’s complex. Anyways my Corp doesn’t have tacklers in higher tiers for SecCon but it worked against OWL in domination and almost against ESB until they pulled their xxxx together.
Cruise Engine tackler with 2 drones is just Ace. All it takes is a determined recon.
Using it in sec con is as cowardly as bringing 2 ecms per squad mate. Yes you can do it, yes you can win. But after all, for me its about the fun and meeting other skilled players on the battlefield. Running away and deploying drones doesn’t make you a better player. In fact, while the other players get better and more skilled in countering it, you will still stay at the same level. Some game you will die repeatedly because it doesnt work and then you will suck at any other ship. Ultimately it just makes your enemy think of you as not worthy and move on to a more interesting arena because they are not willing to change tactics for your little beacon drone deploy minigame.

used in conjunction with 700m/s and then cloaking if they get slowed makes it a crazy combo. very hard to catch them solo

that is true, which is why you shouldn’t try in that case. as long as it’s on the move, it will not do stuff. go and win the game instead
however, i found the decloaking of speed tacklers had more success rate for me. it’s harder to adjust course corrections on that speed. also, speed tackling the speed tackler is fun. keep a low profile, look until someone else made it cloak, then wait until it decloaks, with an eager alpha strike. after all, you know by then, 2 drones means he either cant tackle you back and / or not break the tackle successfully.
it’s still a troll build, but i agree, it’s an annoying one.
ECM with energy absorb and minicoils can get pretty nice against it.
having a speed recon with plasma gun is however the best anti-speed tackler ship, and a nice bomb carrier. but it’s less useful for other things. just dont get the drone to the face.
However, that is “speed fit” combined with “double drone”, so naturally, a double troll fit is annoying because it’s supposed to be that way.
Did you guys forget that tacklers are actually supposed to kill interceptors?
It would make sense that the tackler has modules that can decimate inties.
No, we didn’t forget the point of a tackler. a real tackler pilot uses slows to kill inties, as that is most effective. Going 700 m/s and pooping drones everywhere is the nooby/cowardly way to play tackler and makes for boring games.

There are different types of warfare. Not everybody will go up with their armies and face each other like in the middle ages. There is guerrilla warfare. Electronic warfare and so on.
Using different tactics makes you a better and smarter player. If enemies are not willing to change tactics then they fail to adapt and lose. Ultimately idc. Go leave the match then. it just proves that people can’t adapt and are stuck using old tactics.

Those are the interceptor pilots you are hearing. They constantly gripe about ‘noskill’ weapons because on a laggy Russian server, those are the only weapons that can reliably bring them down. And of course, you can’t have interceptors actually be weak against something. That would be sacrilege.
