Having server issues…

This, and they’re strange because of how intermittent they are.  I played last night when the patch dropped and everything was fine.  This morning I was having all sorts of login issues as well as getting booted.

Error mentioned in another thread that it’s routing issues, not server problems.

 

I guess they have their servers hosted in multiple Data Centers, where they get most services from either the DC Provider, a Service provider or a Carrier, and we all know that there is a layered server structure and some form of load balancing and instancing going on.

 

Weird and hard-to-debug things can happen in such environments, and all they can probably do is open a problem ticket with the provider, and hope for timely resolution.

 

They’ll probably have to rely on whatever service provider/carrier/whatever they use.

First I was YAAAY for the positrons change…

Then i way NAAAY for the gauss change…

Then i tried out gauss in invasion and i was OKAAY i can work with that

 

Ok patch 7/10

Concerning the changes, now that I could test some of them:

  • Pulse laser: 3 secs maybe it is too much, I think the sweet spot will be around 3,5 or 4 secs overheating. Or maybe reduce the cooling. As it is now, the current iteration of the plasma gun has more effective DPS over time, and more range.

 

  • Gauss: I don’t like the new mechanics. now the gauss has lost all its flavour. it is just a charging assault railgun. The critical while charging can be easily exploitable, and in fact, you can have a build where you can just accumulate 3 or 4 charges and just do criticals all the time.

 

  • Assault railgun: I welcomed the range and projectile speed buffs. The overheating buff is not a buff really, because more overheating means more spread in the gun. So against most targets (that is, non standing still guards at 1000 m) you won’t wan’t to fire more than 3 secs because of spread.

 

In bonused ships is great though. My panther and excalibur are very happy now, same the Mjolnir.

 

  • Ions are still great. Not as much as before, but still have range AND damage. not as much as before, but it still is damage.

 

  • Interceptor missiles: Well, this is tricky. you can either use pylons, which don’t reduce the time to the previous 2 secs, or you can just use the missiles as support, instead of a main DPS source. one rocket every 3 seconds is bad. Small missiles every 5 seconds is just lol. Fighter missiles fire every 6 seconds, and do 50% more damage. On the other hand, support missiles weren’t reduced, so people will start (in fact they already did) spamming energy neutralizing missiles, recon mines, and maybe even tactical nukes. With the current tackler spam meta, ecm and the increasing numbers of frigates, the covert ops is surely having trouble. Working as intended I suppose.

Yeah, the new gauss isn’t a bad weapon by any measure, but we now have two guns that feel way too similar to each other.

 

Assault Rails and Gauss now both have high rate of fire kinetic damage. I almost feel like Assault Rails should be moved to Interceptors and Plasma Gun given to the Fighters. That way, there would be a clear reason to pick one over the other, and RFB wouldn’t have its toes stepped on so much either.

Played some 2 hours yesterday, here’s what I noticed:

 

  • Plasmas on Black Swarm: had 'em on this one before, buffs to the gun feel nice, will keep it this way.

  • Said good bye to Pulse Lasers on my Kite and put Shrapnels on: intended results I guess, lots of firepower. Could feel the change of the missiles though, no more Piercing Miss. spam, shots have to count more than in the past.

  • DEagle got the Ions removed and Bubble gun screwed on: carried TDM with 14 of 30 kills. Will swap them to Nukem though, as they tend to overheat quite a bit on DEagle.

  • Not sure what to use on Prometheus X yet, Gauss and Rails both feel ok; can see some impending click-finger pain with too much Gauss use though.

Who doesn’t love a little laggle waggle?

Server issues ? No ? That can’t be the reason I keep getting kicked from matches and then kicked out to the log in screen ? Can it ?.. :fed014:

 

Oh, and I am not happy that you changed Horizon modules…5% reduction may not seem like much, but it can be the difference between killing your enemy before he reaches cover, or just leaving him mortally wounded for some other pilot, (kill stealer) to pick him off, get your kill after all the pounding you put only gets you an assist… Sometimes, my Guard just want to reach out an touch that LRF sitting just out of everyone elses reach…

i have 2 purples already plus the crew to match and my reload time was 1 sec , now its 1.5… this has made a massive difference to the game play and Im not buzzing anymore as its just to slow to get a buzz out of … when you hit multipul missles 1 after another it feels Great and even more so as thats where the skills at… any1 can point 1 target at another but aiming those missles takes skill and this has killed the dog fights for me ! … thats why im crying … :01414:

I would profere 0.8 and weaker missles like it used to be least you still buzzing when you mess some one up with pure skill in a dog fight.

So you cannot kill someone with weapons, you need missiles for that and you call it skill? :008j:

My biggest question about this patch: Where was the nerf to the sentry drone?

 

This thing is far too OP (especially in T4/5 because of the J10 implant bug). You drastically change weapons making plasma guns more like RFs and gauss more like rails, but you forget to balance the things that are actually unbalanced/OP. Logic?

a) The j10 been fixed awhile ago, do you see the bug again?

b) It is accepted that one of the tacklers purposes is to fight inties, sentry drone aren’t bad at it, but it is pretty terrible vs Frigs and Fighters

Wow as this is a Pew Pew games… and it still surprises me that we have people complaining about use of SKILL vs NO SKILL weaponry.   Does it really matter if you get blown up by pilots with ratings over 7k or lower than 2K and what they used?  

 

Heck I still scream bloody murder for every 2 frigging Doomsday I manage to dodge there that 1 that I happen to run into as they are now being handed out like candy.  Talk about Doomsday SPAM of missiles …now that it is handed out like FREE candy 

 

 Not sure if the Doomsday falls under the SKILL or NO SKILL category 

Ah and here it is, the patch that uterly destroyes the covert op class, absolutly brilliant… I stopped flying covert op since the last patch, the only reason it was still usable at some degree wast thanks to the unguided missiles and now that s gone. Good job… Good thinking. Remove one of the few weapons you actually need skill for to use. Add some more guided stuff so people can play with there eyes closed or just make all ships move at 100 speed, that should make it more easy for everyone. I got more great ideas to make it Ace friendly, just contact me.

The two more skill based weapons for interceptors are unchanged (RFB + Shrapnell), only difference is now people can’t missile spam. Covert ops is still a very good ship, I use it all the time
