The one that struck me the most was the nerf to Recon. I’m somewhat confused as to why this was needed, the class is feeling a bit weak if nothing else. Can we expect a big speed increase to compensate? The class desperately needs it, given that it’s supposed to be ya know, a supportive/scout class. It’s way too slow right now.
Note:
Data storage format has been reworked and optimized to prepare for the upcoming updates.
Due to this change, the 0.9.9 update’s size will be much bigger than usual.
So Heavy Blaster got a 10% damage increase. The weapon is not viable in PvP, though, since people tend to dodge incoming fire in that game mode. Heavy Blaster’s targeting reticle often becomes locked to one side or the other and does not move while I am rotating in an attempt to acquire a new target. Therefore, the weapon is still only useful for PvE scenarios. I won’t complain, though. Whenever someone brings one to a PvP game, I find it very easy to mitigate the damage received from it by juking wildly.
::sigh:: Coil Mortar got nerfed. I’ve yet to see it in action, though, so I’ll reserve my official response for later.
Recon interceptors got nerfed, and I am giddy like a little girl to see it. I hate those things. On paper, nerfing the parasitic remodulator seems like an appropriate change. Decreasing the effectiveness of their most effective anti-ship module serves to force them to rely on their individual skill as a pilot as well as the assistance of their team. I doubt it will stop them from their usual combination of zipping in, laying down a few shots, dropping a proximity mine on top of a ship then microwarping out, but at least with the decreased effeciency of the parasitic remodulator as well as its slightly increased energy usage, it might force some free-flying pilots to be more cautious or to develop alternative strategies to help their teams.
All-in-all, I love the new changes. I do have one major concern, though. As a frequent pilot of the Ira Deus, I can say with certainty that the ship most certainly did not need a capacitor slot. Removing the second CPU slot seems a cruel joke. The only module I would conceivably put in that capacitor slot would be an Iridium Heatsink, which would increase my rate of fire. Rate of fire, however, is not as important to a glass cannon (such as the Ira Deus) as is being able to hit ships from over 8k away with at least a CHANCE of doing critical damage on occasion. That was why I typically ran 1 Horizon module along with 1 Thermal Scanner. The recent nerfs to all weapon modules (excluding interceptors, of course) with respect to critical chance serves to severely undermine the damage capabilities of one of my favorite ships. A ship that most people hate, or at least love to blow to bits.

No! Its awesome. One more factorpedo IWin, to insta-kill ints. I really consider it as a buff.
Most of this looks good. I’ll never sell a ship at 25%, but if others want to more power to them. I’m not thrilled with the guard ship changes. I’m not thrilled with the coil mortar changes. Most everything else looks good. You forgot to nerf interceptors more though.

You trolling me? The damage from the guided torpedo got nerfed a couple patches ago since they added the irradiate effect to it. The only “insta-kills” I get on interceptors are the ones who are dumb enough to get close enough to me so that I can drop a minefield for them to kill themselves on while I tag them intermittently with my lazers. Pew-Pew, Boom-Boom EXPLOSION!!!
Advanced interceptor pilots usually ace me, though.

No, Use EM-Torps, not Guided. EB will save you.
I am really going to abuse the sh+t out of that new layout! :Dwop
