It has to be exactly 7 times higher to have the same progression speed in MK3 as before 0.9.8.

 

 

EDIT: just logged in and checked. They’ve been increased ranging from 1.5x to ~3x. But not all of them. Basically an average of 2x times faster overall than before this update, which isn’t much absolutely at all.

Under the old system we only had to do that once per tier… So really, it didn’t cost much in the long run. Not at T3 or below anyway.

I’m lvl 14 on fed and 6 in empire and jericho…I’ve always bought only fed ships and i haven’t got a single ships from empire or jericho…

so how can i unlock contracts above 6th lvl with jericho and empire? Am i supposed to buy all the ships form the very first one and synergize them all to unlock other contacts with empire and jericho…? Coz if so this is going to be a big problem to me… :frowning:

Indeed. You must understand that the main idea behind working with matchmaker is not to “give the uber-top-pilot a possibility to own everyone all the time” but to provide all pilots with a fair game. And of course, once again: we are constantly working and adjusting the system.

When I got back to the game in 0.8 playing t3 I was owned by nasa and nova. What did I do ? I IMPROVED myself as pilot, got better and started to be on par. I did not need the be babysat or spoon fed, but if I had to face T4 pilots then with my T3 (T5 were not announced) I would’ve quit months ago.

Actually it kills the kill squads, BUT also kills people who just started that want to play with their friends the same way. Example 4 pilots T1 just finding out the game and being matched vs mix T2 and T3 pilots …

Looks promising. Hopefully this will improve the mk3 upgrade situation

Removal of costs to change faction DOES increase loyalty earning.

 

One could just do the fast/easy ones from each faction, ignoring the harder/situational ones. Change the contracts to other faction (again selecting the easy ones) after each game. Definitely will make earning faster.

 

I suspect some kind of time / change limit might be required for balance purposes. Time will tell.

Say… kill squad has one rating, and newbie squad has another. Matchmaking takes this rating into account and adds solo players - weaker to killsquads, stronger to newbie squads - as total squad power/rating should be the same.

No one noticed the numbers in the blog are “rating” and not “ranking” a +2 in rating may not be +2 in ranking. We must try the new system before raging against it.

I’m a casual player with 2 friends (casual too => low DSR) and before MM patch we were playing against same tier full blue/purple and I can tell you that makes casual player quits.

But the new system doesn’t seems perfect either (a bit better but only slightly) since now in T3 with our low DSR we can still be matched against T4. We must know what is that “rating” and how it works, then makes casual squaded players play with the same tier and pro squaded players play with ONLY ONE tier above, not two.

just to make this clear: a good t3 pilot vs. a bad t5 pilot might be fair, but it isn’t fun at all. the t3 pilot might stop playing because the mm makes him lose to inferior players all the time and he knows that because he sees how poor the enemy t5 pilot is playing.

the t5 pilot has got no idea about the game and still wins some matches? in my opinion he doesn’t deserve to win because he is a bad pilot. such a match should never happen, but in fact it happens all the time, especially since the gind forces players to rush 1 ship tree and get into t5 without having the experience needed. making him play vs. bad t5 pilots would be fine, but punishing the good t3 pilot instead of giving him the challenge he seeks (playing with/vs. players at his skill AND tech level) is definately not.

The whole system feels like it’s coming apart at the seams due to clueless game design.

The game should be encouraging skill, not punishing it. If people don’t like being teamed against T3+ pilots who maul them, they should tech up or tier down. I am SICK of idiots ruining my matches because they fly T3 ships in T1 style. Engineers that don’t bring heals need banning. Guards that can’t be bothered to equip missile shield should be dumped in T1 where they belong.

I used to complain T3 was too harsh a transition, but the beauty of it was that if you skipped straight to R8 or R9 ships and stocked plenty of Military modules, then you’d be able to hold your own as long as your skill was high enough.

Now, victory in T3 isn’t about skill: it’s about which teamn has the fewest idiots.

This matchmaking is SO bad right now I don’t even want to look at the game anymore. It is completely ruined.

The real problem comes with flawed MM. 

I will try to explain it simply.

 

T2 goes in range 1-3

T4 goes in range 3-5

 

If you are T2 for example and get matched in that 2-4 Que just because of lack of people effectively you face T4 on T2 ship. 

That happens. And continue happening. 

 

And no, I am not a Ace T4. I am full blue T4 (R11) and I face T2 people sometimes. Mostly T5 thou.

Your missing the point Antibus. Tier 1 players should NEVER be facing T3!!! It is WAY too unfair. The Matchmaker the way it was prior to this total F up by the DEVs was working. Granted there were a few things that could have been tweaked, but not changing the whole damn thing to something totally idiotic like it is now.

 

I had a new friend join the game so myself, and another Corp Mate dropped down to T1 ships to fly with him, and teach him the game. Because the 2 of us had Blues & Purples, and full synergy ships all 3 of us were matched against several T3 ships. Do you know how hard it is for a T1 ships to kill a T3 ship? Not too easy, and my friend basically was turned off from the game. I have another friend that works in Angola (Internet access sucks majorly there) 2 months on and 1 month off. He just got home, and was going to check out the game, but we have told him to not even bother anymore. I was bringing people into the game until this crap happened. The DEVs keep making this game worse and worse with every patch. Their inability to understand what it is we as players want is very obvious. Do you know what we want? I will tell you…A CHALLENGE THAT IS FEASIBLE. I enjoy playing against people that are better than me because of Skill, and NOT because they have better Tech. I learned a lot by getting beat by better players. I watched what they did, I looked at their builds, I paid attention so I could get better. Fighting 2 tiers higher than you is NOT fair no matter how you try and justify it.

 

 

When I started playing this game there were 3 types of weapons with 3 ranges for each. 9 total weapons that could be put on any ship. This was balanced, but for some unknown reason the DEVs thought it would be easier to balance everything if they had all these weird weapons like Bubble Guns, etc… If you ask me they made it harder on them, and took the balance out. Just one example that the DEVs don’t have a clue.
