They suppose to, as long as no-one on your team can see the other side of the asteroid, it is especially noticeable in smaller matches where there less player per team, hence less area is covered with direct Los

This has actually very little to do with it in some cases.

I have noticed it myself, losing lock while dogfighting with another inty, he didn’t hide or anything but i still lost my lock.

And enemies that go behind objects become invisible, even when they are in sensor range. I don’t mean the way that no one has LoS on him, I mean that their ships just become invisible for me, because for my client they are behind an object and they just completely disappear, but if I know their position i can still lock on to them and then I can still see them.

 

To help my point:

As you know, there are 6-8 launchers there, and 2 objectives. All of them are invisible until I am in direct LoS with them, while before they were always visible.

The same happens to player ships that go behind objects, their markers and ship outlinings disappear completely.

In case of tackler and CO module will go on cool down, but all enemies that had you locked will drop it and will have to relock on you again, you can drop missiles flying into you by doing so when you are droned.

Regarding invising/dropping lock on all the ships - I have never seen something like this in moments when it not suppose to happen (as an example enemy flyis behinde the rock and we dont have friendly LOS sensor range on it, it will drop lock), make a bug report

Kosty i’ve been playing the game for more than only since yesterday or 1 week. The problem IS there. And i remember earleir complaints about it too, ever since 0.9 hit along with some bug report, but cannot find it. To put it bluntly i’ll give you a ‘in your face’ type of example: open space, no objects nearby, all my mates around, 1 enemy guard for example in the middle of us, and losing lock. Now do you understand what the problem is? It has nothing at all to do with LoS, camo, invis or whatever else. It jsut happens.

What about vouchers? Those are way off the charts as well, not just artifacts (what i estimated my previous post on actually).

 

Also, just checked the HUD settings window. I’m happy it’s there, but the implementation is… <no words>

It drastically needs an interactive in-combat window to set it up right… not just sliders and checkboxes. Freespace 2 did it right for one.

 

I have some serious complaints about the implementation of HUD / Graphics and during battles in games and some other stuff

 

Before I go into details let me 1st put some basic requirements for gameplay:

  1. during battle I want to see the enemy ships in good quality, to get some additional fun out of the ability of my hardware

  2. you need to see clearly whether an object is before or hiding behind a structure

  3. no matter what type of weapon you use, you need to see clearly where you shoot at (good visible cross-hair)

 

in regards to 1)

Either its me or the HUD … the display of enemy ships during battle was never as worse as it is now.

I see more or less only “brackets” instead of  good looking ships flying around and ships are now only very difficult to detect.

As a workaround I enabled display of damage, its crappy overhead and doesnt look nice, but now I can see the ships better at least.

If there are many ships at the same spot, then this looks crappy of course, but better that only those difficult to detect brackets.

But no matter how good your graphic card is and no matter how many detail you configured (textures, anti-aliasing): you can’t see ships well enough anymore. And it looks not so nice anymore. Having a good presentation of the enemy ships is the “heart” of a good looking shooter game. Otherwise we can go back playing nethack on Unix, one character vs. another one …

If enemy ships come close, then the shaping of the ship gets highlighed stronger, but still you do not see much of the ship anymore after this patch.

 

in regards to 2)

Because of this bad display of ships its now even more trickier to detect whether ships are before or behind structures.

Before the patch when all ships were good visible, then it was MUCH better to see, that a ship is hidden, when the color became dimmed/pale, I hope you know what I mean.

 

in regards to 3)

The last patch before this patch already made things worse. I startet to use only Lasers, because the crosshair was not easy to detect anymore especially when doing dogfights with fast movements, turnarounds etc … you lost too much time to identify, into what direction you shoot.

 

It would have been phantastic if this patch simply takes care, that the crosshair, to where you shoot, is now well enough visible, no matter which weapon type. But the patch made things simply even worse. Besides the cross-hair, to where you shoot, now you also made it much more difficult to identif and see the targets.

 

If I put this all together then I have to say, all these HUD changes together with the new implementation of ship display duing battle

is simply a BIG DRAWBACK and an absolute FUN Killer. Everything looks now boaring & crappy.

 

Another issue is that this puts much more stress to my eyes when playing then before. This is not so good, so I can’t play for so long anymore and need to make more pauses.

 

Now another point, the implementation of the HUD configuration:

  • its merely impossible to configure the HUD out of the battlefield, but its also not recommendable to do this during a game

  • you require either some kind of pre-view mode out of battlefield or implement kind of a test mode  for finetuning the HUD

  • the descriptions of the single points are not always very helpful, could be explained better what those options mean

  • its missing a “default settings knob” with very good balanced starting options, which are of ~2 patchlevels ago

 

Then another issue in regards to ship configuration

  • why do you choose preview windows, where you can only see 4 items ??? Thats not good having to scroll back and forth for no reason.

  • This preview windows should be sticky at the right, where the most vertical space is and than calculate the best possible vertical size of the window based on the chosen screen resolution. Current implementation after patch is really sick. Do you think we all play 1024x768 ?

 

Other woes in regards to all those changes of game mechanic

  • currently its difficult for me to oversee what all these changes will bring at the end, i.e. in terms of voucher instead of loyality points

  • the game mechanic could be explained better tbh …

 

In regards to Voucher system: if those Loyality Points are gone and I need to use Vouchers to upgrade my modules to MK II, III etc

  • what triggers now to get other type of modules to be available for my ships ?

  • why don’t we have then only one pool of vouchers independed of faction ?

  • why is are the vouchers still separated into faction and subfaction ?

 

General issues:

  • The description of the game mechanic and especially the new HUD configuration could be better.

  • The chat could still be better. If I convo somebody in private I would like to have the ability on demand to open a new TAB for this convo.

 

To sum up:

I have currently my doubts whether this was a good patch into the right direction. The game does not look so good anymore during gameplay … the things that we all like to see … the ships around us in good quality, this has all gone … and this is the thing which I dislike most.

 

The only thing which I really spontaneous like: 4 people squads.

I would say absolutely not. Coz in this way usual palyers be back in squads to easily farm in the same tier matches…I think that this MM is anyway better than the old one…but surely it still needs some fixing :wink:

 

Idea:

Why not make players being part of squad highlighted by a diferent colour during the match preview? In this way at least anyone can understand a bit more about the MM :wink:

Remeber that if u see palyers from same corp in the opponent team, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they are in a squad.

This is an interesting idea we will see this reported.

 

Are piercing missiles for T2 fighters discontinued?

The are indeed discontinued. Why? Be cause all ammo in the game has been reworked, now, instead of being of different Mks it will all have just one level, and its power is around previous Mk.3 power level.

 

If the Dev Team is really so concerned with squads breaking the game, why don’t they do the following?

 

A) LOCK THE xxxx TIERS!

 

B) Each tier has two queues. Squads of 3-4 get put in Queue B, along with any player with a stupidly high matchmaking score. Everyone else goes in Queue A.

 

End. Of. Problem.

 

Easyer way:  a 4 men squad will start a game ONLY if there is another 4 men squad to place in enemy team.

 

That’s all.

 

Somene could say :" eh!!! but it takes so long to start a match!" … offcours it can! But well just play in 3 man squad if u want ur queue time reduced. If u wanna play with a full squad be ready to wait 15 minutes…at the moment at least.

 

Honeslty the mm system is now worst than it was ever been. I mean i can’t play my r12 at all… couse 8 times out of 10 i’m versus full t5 squads even if i queque alone.

 

Now… honestly… it’s not like i can’t play almost equal with my Leonina or my Jarl… but point is… why should i use Leonina if i can use jarl and nothing changes in MM ?

 

[And here is the lie:if queue with Leonina (only one ship … i did it just for test) i see rank 12 - 15  … if i queque with jarl i see rank 13 - 15 … but borderline u ll fight exactly the same people.]

 

These two suggestions may seem very simple and logical, but there are underlying potential problems with them, such as (for the first one):

 

If we lock the tiers all new players who will come to the, say, tier 3 will be smashed right away with the team of same-tier 3 players who just do not want to move from this tier. Why? All tiers are locked - they just do no need to progress anymore. Moreover, this will not be fun at all for anyone - for those who are flying ‘all purple rigs’ because they will constantly meet those who are weaker than they are,  and those who are constantly getting smashed won’t  be happy either. The main thing is that an experienced and well-played squad will always  be stronger than most of solo players, and we want our squad players to have interesting and matching opponents, and not just topple weaker players as it happened with previous settings. 

 

On the second idea: 

This, as you have already noticed would cause even more witing time. You can see some of our T5 squad players being confused with waiting times already, as T5 squads are partially participating in this kind of setting. This change would sya very negatively on a teamplay, while the current change offers team greater opportunities - if you remember, there is a scaling system -  the stronger is the enemy you are killing, the better is your synergy income after the battle.

Thank you Antibus for being so patient with the community. I can only begin to imagine how you are feeling about this and about the players responses. I understand that you may be not be in full control of the patches or just the messenger boy, but we appreciate all the feedback you have given us.

Remember that every time you comment something and antibus tells you he’ll need to get back to you on it or that it’s under advisement, it’s because he’s taking the time to tell you that he read your post, rather than doing what I would do and let you sulk while I try to talk russian and convince developers and coders to do things my way. He’s actually being nice to you people, stretching the rules about not trash talking other players in forums and xxxx everywhere so that you can still talk about the game, which also means he actually DOES care about your opinions and has actually read them more than once now. So no one needs to start facepalming. Unless you just made an account, you should have expected the confirmation that your statements have been logged.

Zap’s proposal is actually a good idea. You may or may not play, antibus , but since these guys are well-respected in this gaming community and are calling a problem, it may not be bad to witness just once.

 

Practically all the main developers of the game are flying it on a daily basis, we like our game and we think there is a room for improvement, that is why soon there will be some interesting changes. 

 

It’s worth noting that antibus is not a developer but a community manager.

 

You’d need to ask a dev to fly with you.

 

 

And as has been pointed out above, “we see your feedback and are working on it” is the support lingvo for “I’ll file your feedback into nearest garbage bin”. You need an overwhelming amount of feedback of very similar nature to get it through the support to upper echelons of management who can actually do something about the issue.

 

The man/woman is just doing his/her job here. Not really seeing any reason to either hate on or suck up to.

 

At the moment we have an interesting and important feedback on various parts of the game we will discuss it more in the future. 

 

 

Also respecting Antibus here who tries to keep everything right. My nerves however do go towards others.

I think i’ll keep digging for sweet rolls for JP till next patch. There’s no point to grind my teeth in the game’s current phase.

According to the Antibus 4 man squads pushed up by 1-2 tiers suppose to meet worst of the worst from that tier, if it does work, there were enough people online below you in ratings to fill in for these 4 mans

Yes, the situation when a t4 squad meets a tier 5 squad is very seldom now, as far as we are aware. In most of the cases t4 squads are meeting with either PUGs or solo players whose strength should not be as high for t4 to oppose. 

 

Just a question on this, if killsquad goes on a losing streak because they ignore objectives and lose the match, will they be placed in the standard queue?

This should not happen, due to an amount of variables. If you will see a situation like/resembling this, please contact us, we will try to see if it was all correct.

It probably will be modified some over time.

we are constantly monitoring the situation with match,aking and making changes to it, so that games would be more fair. Should the situation allow us to make changes like this we would consider doing so, but we also need to take into account many other important underlying conditions, which not all of our players may easily see.

Is there a monetary limit on the vouchers ?   I can’t seem to get past 2,300,000 for Federation Rank 15 Armada no matter how many contracts I complete.

yes, there is a hardcap for the fraction currency, and you have twice the amount of it. We did not want to remove any loyalty that our players have already accumulated, so we allowed players to keep the loyalty even if is over the cap - but you cannot get more than you already have.

As noted, the new balancer needs fine tuning, and fine tuning needs significant statistical confidence in its own numbers first. Which need to be gathered. I.e. to check how far current squads are from 0.5 win ratio, and adjust accordingly until they are as close to 0.5 as possible.

Indeed and at the moment we are doing exatly this - gathering statistics and your feedback. You can help us by playing more - so that we could get more info.

Maybe we could also tie the contracts/loyalty vouchers with the in game medals so for triple kills or something we can get 100 loyalty vouchers. That at least makes getting medals a little more significant.

Well  it seems they listen to the complaints about the Torpedo Swarm…  so now the Jericho LRF might as well be neutered.  :sad:

 

Guards with their missile shields are back to shooting it down.

 It now requires a tad bit more 'SKILL" in knowing how steer the torpedo to kill ships …  :smoke:

 

 

oh yea… if you accidentally hit something real close you can really kill yourself by staying within the blast radius and don’t move out quickly…

AS it was already mentioned we are working with you feedback on a constant basis and we do not plan on stopping.

the new module list display and the way upgrades work has some major issues.

 

A. you cannot see the stats of a better MK item. you must buy the mk1, then upgrade to mk2… etc… or you must have additional items in your hangar, already upgraded.

You can see what currency and how the improved dear will be better - open options - game - scroll down, tick the last option. Now when you mouseover the upgrade button a small window will apear showing you more info.

 

lol, the new prices for ammo refils are HUGE. i cant imagine flying or even PROGRESS t3 without premium acc.

New ammo is around previous Mk.3 power level. The prices are increased accordingly.

You didn’t miss anything. There has been a long time persisting bug of lock losing and random ships going invisible for a split second every now and then and apparently nobody gives a sh*t about it.

We would like to state that this is most probably not a bug, but a situation caused by insufficient sensor coverage. you can still see the ship moving but you sensors cannot detect it.

I know all ‘grades’ of ammunition and missiles have been removed, but what I see is that all kinetic missiles for T2 fighters are gone.

The current HUD is kinda a pain in the xxxx(Sorry for the language)

Just confirming this. Have seen ships like engineers go invisible for a second while hitting them with an interceptor. It’s somewhat rare but has been happening forever. Always thought it was due to lag.

PS: Talking about up to T3 here, so no implant involved.

The most important change is now to change graphics / hud back to sane defaults.

 

I want to see real enemy ships, not only brackets…

And the crosshair needs to be good visible for every weapon class.

 

I started since about 2 patches to use only lasers, because for all other weapons the cross hair was not easy to identify.

 

You were only breaking HUD and grapic more and more instead of doing real improvements.

Now after the patch you need to do even more PVE missions than before to be able to transfer modules from loot to your warehouse.

 

This is not nice.

 

Before the people were already complaining how boaring PVE missions are, but they are the only way to get more money quicker.

 

More PVE missions are badly missing … it boares to death … doing only PVP is not possible, as then you get less money and then its even worse, if you find something in loot but finally can not transfer it to warehouse.

 

Thats a very heavy INBALANCE introduced now by this patch.

 

Loot needs to be transferable always to your warehouse if there is still space.

 

 

Yea i want that back too. I mean, it’s there, but nearly invisible. I get what you mean with large maps and constant speed, but in combat you do use WASD right?

I bought 3 add on packages of this games.

Premium Ships turned out to be of no use, as you need to play the normal ship paths to reach T5 …

 

I agree to some people complaining:

  • that everything looks now to be more “pay to win”

  • that the speed nerve makes no sense

  • that mixing ships classes of +/- 2 doesnt make much sense on the battlefield

  • that the grafic display in general became a nightmare in terms of seeing mostly only brackets instead of read enemy ships as a real grafic as before

 

This patch maybe tried to do some things right, but the final implementation is not good.

 

I am also missing a certain continuity in this game …

I will defeinitively be more careful in the future in regards to spending money for this game.

I never thought that people patch it so into a wrong direction that even the grafical user experience while flying is massively impacted.
