Star Conflict OBT v.0.9.6 Discussion

I played 2 matches.

The game is somehow worse. *sigh*

For once I agree with betatrash. With 200 Ping I can no longer hit ships with ANY weapon other than lasers.

I play at 300ms and above … took years to get used to it but doable :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m pretty much with zerk on this one. Ints are back to not being free kills for frigates and liability to their team with this update, as they get the most advantage from removal of aim assist.

Need a few more days to evaluate the patch, and new reticule color is hilariously bad, but gameplay wise the change makes the game far more interesting and skill based.

Kine, I was killing 10+ people a game frequently pre-patch. Now all my kills are people who were sitting still.

I dont think I’ll be able to get used to this if I’m firing directly on the cross hair. For now, I’m going to go full lasers…

If the server preference actually worked 100% of the time I think I would be okay.

i’m not sure that’s what it has accomplished, but even if it has, then it was arrived at through all the wrong means.

now we’re at even more rock-papers-scissors then we were before. notable changes:

positrons are now heavily influenced by spread, and can’t hit anything but the broad side of a barn.

mortars don’t fire in one direction, and most frigs cant rotate fast enough to counter the effect.

heavy blasters are just… they suck, ok? only work at really close ranges, and even then…

and lasers… well… hard to hit fast-moving targets as well, unless you’re psychic…

torps cant hit anything unless they’re blind… or point blank.

complete trash frigate weapons… now let’s take a look at inty options.

now we can die a lot easier due to bad slot layouts, no EB/tank, just pure speed.

shrapnel hits for 5 damage…

rf blasters have way too much spread to even be useful. and this left-right motion…

plasmas are too weak for what inties need them for… they can’t kill anything…

you’re left with pulse lasers, which only really work on ships with -50% heating time.

and now fighters:

commands are now as slower or slower than frigates… with 1/3rd the EHP… or less… also bad slot layouts.

singularity is still OP.

rails cant hit anything.

havent tried gauss but i assume its also taken an indirect hit.

lasers… blah…

i’m sure i’m missing a lot of it… but that’s the bulk of it.

even with lasers you have to lead on RU/EU server… try shooting directly at the ship = zero damage :\

i’ll try later with less lag, but i’m pretty sure this patch is the final nail in the coffin.

only leader can chose it ???

it’s maybe cool the officer can take decision in coorp?

So nothing worth mentioning has been added, nor any broken mechanics have been fixed. I knew this patch was bogus…

Who needs coil mortars anyway?

Dunno when ive seen this much complaining the last time. Can’t give any feedback till tomorrow as ixm away, but considering all the comments so far ixm expecting my gauss wolf to be a much better killer now and the wolf m to miss a lot. Hmmm, will see.

That new lead indicator really is TERRIBLE…

PS: damned android x(

Typing all wrong…

Who needs coil mortars anyway?

The point isn’t even the Mortars. Actual game mechanics are broken in separate Tiers but, in their “logs”, everything’s balanced because they don’t differentiate Tiers.

As usual you give us nothing we want and nothing we really need!

Well, I’m okay with change, but with the current system, the aiming reticle has become irrelevant. Perhaps implement a new, accurate one or remove it completely for a new system, whatever, but something should be done about it. Having learned to play the game by shooting constantly on the reticle, that’s what I keep doing, but no longer having the same result (hitting the target). I’m alright with aiming on predictions from projectile, but the reticle keeps distracting me, and I keep doing what I am so used to.

Aiming reticule works for me. It’s just that coloration is very off. But if you have a solid aim, it’s functional. You just need to be far more accurate than before when it was “sorta kinda aim at its general direction”.

Luckyo now you are just overdoing it…You did still need to aim at the reticule and keep it on it. It wasn’t like you were 1000 pixels away from the reticule and it still auto-hit which you just made it sound like  :beee:

With long range weapons, it was exactly as you describe it. Right now, I’m actually having fun with positron guns.

No it wasn’t, every weapon was the same basicly…And the fact that some weapons had a slight attractiveness to the reticule actually made them worse, since inties could easily avoid them due to that.

Did you even use positron guns before then? They had two stage auto aim, one where it forcibly grabbed your aiming reticule and forced it over the predictor if it was anywhere in the vicinity of the target, and second which auto corrected fire to ensure that all barrels got hits most of the time.

Now, I’m lucky to get 2-4 barrels connecting at long range, which is at is should be with 0.3 degree spread. And I can actually hit smart interceptors now, as it doesn’t force my aim over predictor reticule, which would always make me miss shots at long range as interceptor kept changing course.

The net result is that guns now feel better to use.

Lucky is correct about the positron. I’ve always had issues with the positron because of the “grab” feature it did. However, I’m still finding it impossible to use any weapons other than lasers thanks to this patch.

So far I tried the following guns:

Shrapnel

Positron

Mortar

Assault rails

Singularity

Gauss

Of these, only gauss felt significantly more difficult to use to the point of frustration - though I suspect this is mostly because I don’t like gauss in the first place so I have little motivation to adjust. Everything else works as long as you adjust to the aiming requirements. Mortar works as it did with the old system, automatically detonating so long as it’s close enough, so if you really want to keep the old “aimbot” style in place, use mortars.

The positron has higher spread on the first shot than on subsequent shots, as listed on that weapon’s stats. That has nothing at all to do with auto-aim.
