I even have a better Idea, you get the old reticle back (with that aim) as a booster. Costs only 500 GS for 5 battles. 

Now that’s a selling idea.  :lol:

If you sent us your logo, then your leader should be able to choose it in your corp. menu. 

But really, could we have a vote in-game or something on whether we’d like the old aiming reticle and shooting mechanics back? (not the positron cannon mechanics, those are fine, but the other weapons without the ‘aim helper’)

Gotta say, the new aim certainly separates goods from bads. I have some problems with it, but I manage. But so many people can’t hit me at all right now, it’s just hilarious. Just had a game where our team lost something like 6-20 on standard, and I had 4 kills and 2 assists, where the kills were actually stolen from me by a random laser from kilometers away. On a useless xxxx recon that I’m leveling. I’ve seen people fly next to me and just not hit anything as I slowly demolished the target on my own. Hilarious stuff.

 

In a way though, that is actually good for balance. Ints are not dead the moment frigate decides to look at them from 3km away. Unless he has mortars :lol:

no it doesn’t… it separates the americans they’re shoving on RU servers even more lmao… with 30-50 ping i can imagine it’s still possible to hit stuff, with 160-200, it’s literally impossible…

I have a feeling that many people here do not understand actual mechanics behind this change. Befor on ANY weapon except for lasers (and this is precisely why lasers were inferior to all other projectile based weapons) there was a mechanic from a game where it helps you hit the target, you can call it aimbot. Let take a gauss cannon as an example:

 Pre 0.9.6, As long as you have your aiming cursor next to target marker (that indicates where you shall shoot in order to hit) AI will adjust your turrets angle towards the target, NOT THE AIM RETICLE but the actual angle of your turrets, so projectiles will go into proper vector, even if the center of your aim is not in dead center of targeting marker. 

 0.9.6 Now you HAVE TO AIM pretty much the same way as lasers, you have to hit dead on into center of targeting marker, because there no help form AI anymore (well supposedly there is still some help, but its minimal) Now all the weapons are brought on the level of lasers in mechanics. People actually have to learn to aim now. Granted new system probably will be affected in more drastic ways by PING.

 

So all that outcry by “can’t hit, revert it back” is generated by 2 causes:

A) people suck at aiming

B) they have high Ping

 

Frankly reverting to previous mechanics will be DUMBING down the game, that so many hate nova days.

The new aim is good, if you completly ignore the target pointer. 

Point is …,. why the hell it has to stay?

Just remove it. Just let me lock a target withouth imust  have a stupid circle close to him where i don’t have to shot anyway couse i miss.

 

prediction system is good (better shooter games ever was made around predicion…UT,Quake ,… exetera exetera) … but don’t bore me with that  stupid circle… my inconscious is forced to aim there…

I honestly see no difference in the aiming mechanics/problem with the reticle, no idea what everybody is on about. It’s super laggy, that’s all.

 

Logged on to do my contracts, thudded 4 times in 2 battles simply because I can hardly control my ship. But the reticle was fine (except being invisible :P)…

I never really aimed for the reticle anyway because it cannot predict direction changes. After all I do have an old thread in suggestions asking to allow me to disable the reticle. Maybe it’s because of that that I don’t notice the problem. At least my shots still go where they always went…

Depending on the weapon and target it’s supposed to work that way. I routinely miss at 400m with shrapnel cannon if target is good at evasive maneuvers. People miss me routinely for the same reason - I know how to maneuver my small interceptors, and it should be hellishly hard to hit the imperial int that has such a small hull once shields are down from behind or left/right side. It’s much easier to hit the same int from top or bottom.

I agree with this pretty much - My issue is I strugglew to distinguise the aiming indicator from the map backgrounds dependant on map / colour etc - Allow us to customise the colours of the aim indicator

If only the hitbox was as small as the hull though :wink:

It’s actually pretty close if you tested it. It’s just that before aim assist autoaimed near misses for you.

 

In a way, this change actually makes some limited sense in light of recent massive buff to frigate health and massive nerf to interceptor health. This largely equalizes it. Now the problem is in the wide area AoE weapons which bypass the aiming mechanic almost entirely.

For once I agree with betatrash. With 200 Ping I can no longer hit ships with ANY weapon other than lasers.

I’m even using Rails with 12,219 m/s projectile speed with a max range of 6360m. If I hit a target, even frigates, I’m lucky.
