I blame the corp for not being T5 yet >:(

Many of us have T5 ships, but whilst the game is in its current state, we will not make a transition to T5. It is simply not viable, nor an enjoyable experience.

Therefore there’s little point in arguing with him on the topic of guards being brokenly overpowered against everything as they are right now. It’s very difficult to convince someone that they are maining an overpowered ship when that someone believes that their success is tied to not understanding this.

 

Personally I dropped my anti ECM stuff off completely because ECMs are not a threat in any reasonable way any more. It would be nice if there was an implant choice that would give me less weapon spread and less effect from guard modules instead. CO was demolished into suicide only ship a while ago, and mod reshuffle reinforced this change. Recon is still what it is, a bot spammer delivering healing reduction effect and occasionally helping against CO kamikazes in lower tier.

 

Long range on the other hand is damage god, guard is both damage and survival god, and engineer is supertanky healing god. Gunship is neutered but remains the more mobile version of damage frigates without the survivability, while other two fighters are stuck in niche roles and team can usually do just fine without them. Just stack frigates and maybe a gunship or two to catch those that get away from meatgrinder known as frigball.

First of all, Guards aren’t THAT OP. Yes, they can take a beating, but that’s the point. However, with the new module mechanic, you can just fit ALL your non-shield/armour slots with dps enhancing modules (RoF, Spread, Damage), effectively turning your Guard into a flying tank, in every sense of the word. As long as you have another ship by your side, supporting you, you’re immortal. Alone, you’re as weak as a CovOps under Pulsar fire. And here we return to the theme the devs are trying to get across. The Guard IS meant to tank and deal some damage, but not alone. Teamwork is the keyword here, something that eludes 80% of the pilots.

 

ECMs, if played well and in coordination with other ships, ARE a massive threat to any team. They are very much still OP if you, even alone, fly them correctly.

CovOps are still one of the strongest Ceptors in the game if you know how to fly. However, 90% of the old CovOps pilots now say they’re worth nothing because they mostly flew in suicide tactics, Nuke + SD. The other 10% are actually happy with the current CovOps, as am I.

Recon used to be OP. Now they can actually play the part as full-map sensors. You wanna look at where the bomb is? No problem, lemme just steer ANYWHERE in the map and I can see their spawn. Spy Drones will keep them visible forever, so that’s not an issue, either.

 

LRFs are Damage Gods IFF they can keep applying dps. Disintegrator is an excellent anti-idiot button and the Torpedo is just OP, now because the devs didn’t want to waste 5 minutes on making a decent code for it. Moreover, they can get behind rocks, where enemy ships are, which is an added bonus to Torpedoes. Even more spectacular is the fact that they can serve as Gunships, sue to the 6 turrets and can provide a light area denial on Beacons (be it via Torpedo or Minefield) so, atm, they’re completely fine because their flimsy 36k hp tank doesn’t cover them that well.

Most that are online only got T3/T4 ships though, some got T5 ships, but that is not a full setup yet to my knowledge.

Those poor poor LRF with “only” 36k EHP…

Indeed zap xD LRF got too much tank really, my LRF yesterday survived 2 CO and 3 tacklers in 1 match(Not all at once, and it were 2 persons that tried to kill me with those ships) I did have an engi & guard closeby to help me(WPK squad ftw :P) but I never died. Suicide torp+EB is fun…for me anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

 

I think ideally they should be 25-30k EHP? with mk3 ofcourse

Well, well, well. Look do we have here? This patch is…It’s, like getting a shirt off the ground, and wearing it for a second day. Still clean and fresh, but its still the same shirt. My point is, that they are not changing the balance, or refuse to. Nothings new. And to a veteran like me, or others, this game is BORING now.

 

For a mental guide to all No0bs. Any ship can be overpowered, if you know how to pilot it right, and have a good team supporting you. I know my Covert Ops, rank 12, is overpowered because, Its still fast, and can kill a tackler in nearly 2 hits. (I versed some dude yesterday, and he was in a T5 ship to boot, practically died instantly, I won the match, and he said GG.) BUT, if it was not for my flying skills, or my triple monitor setup, I would have lost. He was an honorable pilot that made that timer go the full length. They cant nerf skill, and thats what I think they are trying to do. 

 

Corporation stickers or logos in the game? Uh, okay then. Please, next time, release it in a good thread with changes to balance, it almost feels like insult to injury. 

 

BTW, I have “only” 120 days left of my license. Thats how long they have until they fix this broken game.

45k+ thermal on a ira deus. lol. 30k+ EM

 

i think my styx is funnier. 50k surv, 60k+ thermal… that’s not counting the adaptive shield lmao. which puts it at 55k+, and 75k+ thermal while moving… haha… yea, plus the heals = da hell…

 

i’d imagine with a nanocomp, you could get that to almost 100k for 8 seconds :smiley: oh, my ira deus has a shield multiphase though, so it can get 60k+ thermal for 8 secs, and 40-45k+ EM.

I use a shield booster on my LRF, I have been thinking of multiphase but then I would have to drop 1 of my other active mods, which could turn out for the worse(speed/damage/radar invis)

thing is a booster only adds about 4000hp over the same duration as multiphase. MP gives 2-3 times as much with a full shield. 9.5k kinetic, 9.5k EM, 9.5k thermal. even with 1/3rd shield it gives the same amount. of course, the more shield you have, the more it makes sense.

 

however, if you need heals, you gotta find an engineer. still, you can survive a solo engagement longer with a multiphase.

My LRF has more EHP than some fed. frigates…Sure they are slower, but more EHP…

Quick test of the patch:

  • Lead indicator is practically invisible now. I like how players have been asking for a more visible reticle since forever and they go the other way.
  • Whatever the change in the singularity sound, I couldn’t identify it.
  • ESB is the only corp with their logo on the map.
  • LAG.
  • LAG.
  • LAG.

No need for a squad. I have >1500 rating still, mostly because I no longer get killed by random guards in droves just because they know how to launch EM torps and how to press button #1, which means that I have a huge “chrismas gift here!” sign painted on me for the 900-1100 rated suicide rushers in T3. With multiphase up LFR can double torp several people at once without dying with ease. Just make sure there’s a random engineer around for heals. Squad is simply unneeded for this kind of play.

 

In most cases, even an engineer is optional because most rushers aren’t smart enough to not be predictable, so your shield will self-regen while you’re killing stuff far away and they’re respawning.

 

And on guard frig, you can just collect your free kills with a pulsar after driving into the enemy with EM torpedoes trailblazing and engineer a couple kilometers behind you. I guess that’s what was meant by oryntgon’s “teamwork OP, not guard” claim. Because it requires so much teamwork to roll in the same direction as your engineers, when there’s a beacon ahead of you. :facepalm:
