Tell me one reason why you must do PvE, except for one of two assignement missions.
Apparently someone’s forcing him to do PVE

If you are in a hurry to get the last T5’s and xxxx, you will have to do PVE.
But if you play calmly, maxing out each ship you get, you earn more than enough money to buy the ships you are unlocking.

Daily purple. It’s a very strong incentive, to say the least.
One PvE per Day keep the Mk1 Away !

Well, incentive =/=force. You still dont have to do it, it is your choice.

The only thing you have to do in life is to die, everything else is by choice. So don’t be splitting hairs. If you want a guaranteed purple loot each day you have to win one PVE.
Which brings back the questions: why do i have to play PvE?
You don’t have to.
Yes i do. Leave the pointless arguments behind pls.

PvE is not necessary, “purple loot” or not, it is what people make out of it.
I, personaly, dont do PvE once a day for the loot, it is boring and that loot doesn’t worth it. I do PvE only when i have no other choice to get quick money, i.e. there is weekend sale and i want to buy something.
Pilots! We would like you to take a look on an in-game poll as well as discuss it in [this topic.](< base_url >/index.php?/topic/22635-captain-choice-in-combat-recon/)
No update today then?

I feel the reward is too high, makes it an obligation. I’m happy that you don’t feel it, i start to go that way too (too much hassle to get a PvE group together, and i really, really hate PvE, boring and time consuming). But it is there. Yes, in the strictest sense it is not necessary, but that’s why i said, no pointless arguments. As Snib said, it’s splitting hairs.
Though i have so much artifacts, i think i just won’t give a damn about PvE and be a happier player.
I haven’t felt the need to PvE daily due to that reward.
Sure, it would make especially module advancement faster, but meh.
Yet, I must confess, I do have license and certain helpful DLCs, so I get plenty of loot from PvP too. I feel that the value of the “purple dot” is greatly lessened with license + certain DLC (one more loot).
pve is easy, you can crack one out in about 10 minutes… even if the team is bad. and with the addition of reconstructing ships its even easier (with the exception of pirate base)

Well, pirate is the only one worth doing, so…
I forgot to mention my greatest concern, to which i cannot find the answer. Why is this good for the devs? When they do something, it’s either good for us, and so through PR it’s good for them, or it’s good for them directly (like introducing new prem ships, increasing the grind in some way etc.). What do they gain from the PvE first win loot?
Its not about easy. It is about boring.
“So I beat those scripted enemies already, what next? Oh, again? Why??”
Not here to judge; if some people want to just repeat same boring scenarios “for fun”, sure, what ever makes you happy.
In PvP there is variation, as also the opponents behave differently each time.
For me it just looks like there has to be some “annoyance” in order to get some reward, and that annoyance is repetitive PvE. I don’t get it.
But this is off-topic. Sorry.

You will be surprised about the quantity of people who are scared of PvP and only play PvE, even if there are just 5 missions.
Just have an example, 80% in Eve Online are what they call “carebears” people who never go out of high sec space, so they protected by space police.

80% of the people in high sec are someone’s alt. But you are right, there seem to be lots of people doing little but PVE in SCon. If you read global chat, the commonly given advice there is to grind your ships in PVE before you PVP - we know the result of that…
Eve is different, it has a rich PvE content (i assume). SC on the other hand… 5 missions with poor AI and simple tasks. Not that i want more PvE, i couldn’t care less for PvE.

Boring or not. for brand new players it’s an important learning tool. if you want to see how a ship flies but don’t want to bring down a PvP team. the most important thing to remember about PvP games, or really any game where you play with other people, is that people hate feeling like they are a liability. The absolute biggest problem with PvE is you don’t really learn anything form it. at best, you get a bit of a handle on how a ship flies and what its modules can do. but unless you already know how PvP works you aren’t going to have the n eeded context.
another problem in PvE is not that it’s boring, but that is favors, extremely, frigates. The only time I really fly a frigate is when i’m in PvE. If you see an inty in PvE you know you are going to be carrying that person to some degree. Furthermore, you fly ships differently in PvE than you do in PvP. so it’s not really helpful in helping you learn how to play at a higher level.
PvE should really be on the PvP maps and act more like tutorials or bot games to help you learn how to succeed in PvP. as end-game is PvP based. that should be everyone’s ultimate goal. to be able to play and earn the rewards from end-game content (SQ)

Not really. PvE content is even more boring than here. The only difference is that there are more scripted missions.

It’s more than missions, there’s exploration, complexes, wormhole space and I suppose all the variants of mining and the planetary stuff fall under PVE as well. Oh and ratting, lol.
But how can it be more boring than SCon when in EVE you can get ganked by other players at any time? They should move all the PVE stuff in SCon into the open world when it releases :bomber:
