0.9.18 update 1: looks like the smallest update, ever. xD
You can fly in PvE whatever you want and not just frigates depending on mission, stage and your teammates and what your goals are.
Sure frigates and most under ships benefit (in efficiency) from buffs they get with active modules. But if you are a good/fair team there should be enough efficiency/sync/credits for everyone and not stealing kills/objectives from each other.
As already said no one needs to do PvE if they don’t want to and it is not required to progress in the game that you do it.
PvE is for beginners a way to learn to maneuver various ships before jumping in the real deal with PvP which goes into your stats (if you care). I did several PvE in the beginning as I really played any shooter games just to get used to the controls.
When I play now PvE then only because of some vouchers which I wouldn’t get in PvP because of the lack of players at the time I want to play. And of course credits. While PvE is boring like watching grass grow it gives you more credits in the same amount of time you play PvP’s. PvE is also the only option (for most of my time in the time zone I’m in) to synergize ships in T4+ (or do you think it’s a good idea to play with Rank11/Level1/Mk1 ships in SecCon?).
Sure you can do everything without PvE but progression takes more time and is harder.
No update today then?
We are working on a patch, and it takes a bit more than expected.
For our players who use Mac OS: we have found and fixed a bug, that didn’t allow some of Macs to launch the game, in the next update Star Conflict will have an extended compatibility with Mac.
And there will be something more

What you all seem to be forgetting is that PvE used to be fun.
Every successful PvE mission had a guaranteed loot spot that yielded a military or higher quality part. None of this ‘first-of-the-day’ crap.
So why are we having this discussion now? Because the game was made into a grind-fest. Ships/modules/upgrades, everything took a sharp price increase and synergy was added to force players to stop skipping over ships they didn’t like.
So yeah, PvE is a choice. It’s a choice between “Do I want to fly T3 for the next 6 months?” or “Do I want to fly mindless pew-pew arcade missions for 3 weeks?”
That’s some great choice there.
I never understood this, never had any problems with credits, simply by flying PvP. PvP is fun.
Question again (Antibus?): why is there a strong incentive to play PvE once a day? Why is that good for the game?

Because they need to populate PvE missions. So with an incentive, at least once a day, people will play (and maybe they are stressed and play some more games)
I must admit that I play two PvE a day, one for the purple dot and the “don’t die” legion contract, and the other for doing all the beacon capture contracts with vanguard.
Yes, I can do that in PvP, but game mode is random, and I don’t like to camp all the game just because I have to survive.
PvE’s for when you know you’re far from the top of your game but you still want to play.
There’s also the daily reward and a credit bump. I actually use the 2x reward to grind T4/T5 ships. PvE offers reliable synergy amounts. PvP depends on game size and game mode so your synergy can vary a lot.

Belive me, doesn’t matter how bad you do in a PvP game in T4, it is always better to make the X2 in PvP.

Not always. Imagine capture the beacons, get your only ship disintegrated at the start, your team wins.
But yeah, highest double in T4 without license or other bonuses I’ve had so far was 50k. You don’t get anywhere near that in PVE. On the other hand, synergy is easy to come by in PVP so why “waste” a double on that when you can put it on ships you cannot/do not want to fly in PVP?

Bring more ships sir
Bring more ships sir
Hey, don’t argue with my worst case scenarios.
And if I take myself as an example, I don’t even have the modules to fit more than one ship at a time in T4 (but I don’t get disintegrated at the start :P). Sure I could line up lower tier ships but I don’t need synergy on them so since this argument is about the x2 bonus that wouldn’t help me. Waiting for… “buy more modules sir”

i know a few guys who will be very glad about this! seemingly, the second time you try to run the game doesnt work or sth. so they constantly restart steam
can’t wait
btw. what is “Tiang Long Ba Bu”? Shadowplay now saves SCon in that folder

Nice one maybe I will be able to play PvP again. PvE loses its charm when that is the only option

There are those recon games where your team just wants to sit in the spawn, and the enemy team wants to sit in the spawn too, you just wont get much synergy from it.
Synergy is usually not much of a problem with license and if you are willing to spend some GS/money to transfer synergy from elite ships to where you need it.
Buy more modules indeed good sir

Given imbalanced matches, lack of team coordination, curbstomps, derping, etc, I sort of like using it on PvE. Also, T4 PvE isn’t that viable for me yet. It shocks me when I load up the game and see that R15 it full but T4’s dead.
PvE earns a reliable quanity of synergy. I prefer grinding in PvP, but for a 2x reward I prefer to use it reliably.

A quick google search leads to more questions than answers.
imbalanced matches, lack of team coordination, curbstomps, derping, etc
All of these will generally result in losing the match. The 2x bonus will therefore not be used
Its used only when you win
Well, just to register here, The MM is bad again… Longer waiting times (despite their efforts changing back to mixed tiers). Now as Mapoko posted on another subforum, with T3 he got pitted against ppl with mauler (T5). Basically, forced the entire playerbase to fly T3’s R8’s so they dont encouter T5’s and/or T4 squads.

Even though the tiers are mixed agian, it’s literally impossible to encounter a T5 ship. And the T4 you’re going to find are randoms.
If the squad is 3 or less people you can keep using R9.
