Star Conflict 1.3.1 Discussion

Having given Destroyers some more thought, I have to say I’m not okay with an entirely new ship class being available only to farmers/donators.

And I’m not okay with the current PvP scenarios of ‘whichever team has more Destroyers, wins’. That’s dumb. Either balance the class or balance the matches - or better yet, do both. Now every single game mode feels a bit like CR, with everyone protecting their team’s Destroyers at all costs… That’s like special treatment to the select few. Not fun.

I would be okay with it if there were any standard Destroyers (not only craftable ones) and thus were naturally protected like Engineers by their teammates, but that’s not the case now, is it?

The balance thing is really an issue – In almost all games I’ve played so far, the rule of thumb is simple: More destroyers, more better. Everything but detonation just turns into a spawn camp where spawning means having a screen so full of red that it’s impossible to see where to go.

On the other hand, destroyers being difficult to grind for is understandable. They’re desirable ships in the end game tiers (meaning T3, of course), and are just so dang cool! Standard destroyers seems like it would be a letdown, since the difficulty of getting one makes them so much more desirable. But as it is, the grind for getting one is pretty insane, with RNGesus dictating “Thou shalt grind an average of 18 hours per destroyer, with a standard deviation of approximately 24 hours [[from what I’ve seen so far, at least, with a sample size of about 4 hours]], because you missed the Christmas missions due to having a life!” It’s just… A bit much, to be honest. I’m fine with being behind a bit on the construction part, since I missed so many of the Christmas missions, but a projected 18 hours worth of nothing but flying around in open space is just boring me to death.

18 hours just for the neodium - then six months of daily missions for the Monocrystal. Hope you don’t want Secret Projects!

According to Lezort, T5 Destroyers should be out by April - May

YAAAAAAAAAAAAS just in time for me to start grad school. QQ.

People on RU forums claim they farmed enough neodymium for one full Destroyer in under 10 hours, and about 4 hours of that was to find good spot, after that it was relatively quick

Just my general thoughts on some things in this patch, having not read all 16 pages of this thread (dayum that was fast), i apologize if any of this has been addressed already.

Destroyers, wub wub wub!

Nothing really to say about this, happy to see something completely new in the game, but at the same time i’m waiting for the rank 14 destroyers, which i really hope wont take several months to get released.

A question about them though, i know destroyer parts can get damaged, but can they also be repaired by the destroyer itself or does it NEED a engineer? Just wondering because of a destroyer potentially turning into a useless floating brick in PvE and Open Space.

Pilots can now re-tool already built secret project ships and destroyers
Ships are re-assembled for credits
No other resources are required

Usually there are things in patches that still need to be fine tuned or are one step forward two steps back, but not this, this is all good and not losing actual resources aside from just paying credits is such a welcomed thing in my eyes. Well done on this.

Appearance of the ship tree has been significantly reworked

I like the appearance, but at the same time i find that the older ship tree gave information way clearer, which i can’t really give constructive feedback/suggestions about for the most part.

The 1 thing about the new appearance i can more properly give constructive feedback about is how it’s more annoying to select ships for the errands were you have to send out 5-6 ships for 8-10 hours, before the change you quickly saw which ship types were eligible for the errand and now with the new appearance you have to go from faction to faction to see which ships have a green outline, still not that big of a deal, but i still really would like to see a quick overwiew again of the ship types that are eligible for that errand.

You need to buy a certain number of ships from previous ranks

This is good for T1-T3 because of the complaints about tree rushers not knowing how to play in higher tiers/ranks, but not really necessary in T4-T5 i think because of the grind already being long enough in those tiers imo, plus i think if you have spent a considerable time in T3 you SHOULD be able to handle yourself in higher tiers.

I have a big question and complaint.

We get ship parts for ranking up now? Just now I reached R12 for the first time and got 2 reactors which would have been very difficult for me to produce right now otherwise.

So what about the previous ranks? Nothing then? Just screwed over and will need to farm for months for the crystal shards and osmium?

Yeah, we get screwed for ranking up ahead of time.

And I’m not okay with the current PvP scenarios of ‘whichever team has more Destroyers, wins’. That’s dumb. Either balance the class or balance the matches - or better yet, do both.

Well CoG … it seems that everybody want to play with their new toys now … balance is not important thing anymore  and  i m glad there are no distroyers in t5 PvP but still there are LRFs :frowning: .

How things are standing right now if u dont have distro in team u lose … and if u take any other ship better hide somewhere in trench like it is a World War I game

Okay, so after reading almost this entire thread. This is the arguments I’ve seen:

The Destroyer’s cost is too high!

It requires soo many monocrystals!

New players won’t be able to craft this!

Neodium is soo hard to find!

T3 won’t be able to get Neodium!

My thoughts:

The Destroyers cost is just about right. The reason why they aren’t cheap is because of how POWERFUL they are. It’s the same reason why R15s take so long to get. They are more POWERFUL.

About monos. I have excess monos. If you don’t, chances are you already built a Special Project ship. The goal is to give you a single Special crafted ship for relative ease, with maybe a bit of grinding after you have played the game for a bit. Not to willy-nilly hand them out to people. The events most likely gave you enough monocrystals that if you had built a Spec Craft ship, that it would not take much to craft this Destroyer. Please note, they are “giving” you one destroyer. If you want another one, then yes you need to grind it out. If you have a problem with that, I’m sorry, but you’re being unrealistic.

New players can’t craft it? PHHHFFFT. Doombot has stated new players will get neodium as they rank up. They also get MONOs as they rank up! Forget that bit? Also by the time you get to rank 8 you should have done a fair number of dailies, else, at that time, they are mostly easy. Again, destroyers are powerful, they should have a bit of work to get them.

Neodium is hard to find. If you’re an existing player, which if you are making this argument you are, then the intent was for you to do the event stuff. If, like me, you did not do some of them, then you are allowed to complete it on your own time.

T3 can’t get neodium? If you’re at T3 right now, you had access to the event. read above.

Now, what I have a problem with:

Crafting Special Project ships…

I understand why you changed the system. If refitting costs credits only, then the price needs to be fixed. What I have a problem with, however, is the number of Graphite Plates you need.

The sheer number required is now ridiculous to just craft the ship. Before it depended on what you wanted to put in it.

Let’s get some actual numbers:

Internal Structures cost 15 Graphite Plates

External Structures cost 18 Graphite Plates

Reactor Packages cost 24 Graphite Plates

So how does that affect the crafting of ships?

Well, the Empire Interceptor requires:

1 Reactor Package

5 External Structures

2 Internal Structures

The total comes to 144 Plates. I reached R15 several months ago. I had a little bit of grinding I needed to do just to craft it but was lazy. Fault on me. I now have nowhere near enough plates to craft this. I have to acquire over 100 plates to complete this. Which amounts to 200 Impure Graphite. That’s for the TINIEST ship.

What about the Frigate, the Kraken? 309 Total for Graphite Plates!

I’m sorry, but this is ridiculous. Right now the Kraken is locked behind several months of straight grinding even WITHOUT making a spec craft ship already. I realize there needs to be some type of cost to them, but this is exorbitant. My proposed solution is to lower the amount of graphite plates needed to craft these structures and package. I don’t know exact figures, but halving them would be nice at minimum.

Conversing with some friends, they also proposed allowing to have these materials bought with CREDITS. A first guess would be about 1million Credits a plate. (or yes X amt GS, but make sure to have them purchasable with credits as well) or also including them in the quest rewards for dailies and/or random blue quests.

pretty much…

Wait, what?

What’s your intention here, devs? To have us all create new main accounts and swarm T1 and T2 (and farm all newbs in the process) because getting to r15 in all 3 factions sure as hell is faster than doing open space for the rest of eternity? Or did you just want to tell us how much you care about us?

I think that if people who have already ranked up got the neodium plates that you would have gotten from achieving your current rank then everyone here would have shut the f*** up by now…

According to a corp mate you get 10 neodium plates for ranking up now.

You can already “buy” plates by upgrading a module to mk2 and salvaging it. Pick the cheapest one that gives graphite. Try reactor overload for a start. They change it each update.

Lots of pvp and pve t5 have me enough materials for any ships because you salvage mk4 kits. Those can give up to 6 plates or at least a bunch of other materials like batteries or Co processing blocks. Obviously it is not worth to buy and upgrade to mk4 but taking it from loot only costs credits. Do your daily pve purple spot in rank 10-15 for guaranteed mk4 in t5.

Not sure how all this goes since they changed modules away from tiers

^

Mk4 kits can only be salvaged into iridium, I’m not sure what you are talking about.

Mk4 kits, when salvaged in hangar, give _both _iridium and components. It’s only when salvaged in Loot Search does it give only iridium.

yep, and t4 is February - March, but this is just the approximate dates, it can be changed. T4 and T5 releases also will come with special events

When salvaged at loot search you got iridium AND materials. However materials are not displayed. Try this: take a screenshot of your materials, do some PVE and salvage mk4 kits at loot search phase, take another screenshot after that and compare both pictures. Rewards are the same for salvaging in both instances, difference is that only one shows the materials you recieve.

Wait seriously?? Huh. You’d think some sort of notification would pop up…

Good to hear. I’ll have to make sure to not miss a day this time however.

look i get that the devs don’t like to hear that you have problems with a game but just hear me out  lets say you are a casual player it used to take quite a while to get to tier 5 ships as i have just managed to do now it will take a lot more time to change tiers and lets not forget that if you are grinding certain ships it is going to take you 5 ships instead of four to get to the next tier. now lets say you were 1000 synergy away from unlocking the next ship or had unlocked a high level ship but didn’t have the credits for it now you aren’t even allowed to buy it  which will piss a lot of people off me included. no problems with destroyers yet although graphite plates collection sucks they are really hard to get.

Will we need a R8 destroyer to get the R11, and then the R14 one?

Will it be a tree, or can you sidestep and build it at any time?

Many are holding off, waiting for the new releases since it is deemed somewhat of a waste of resources if they will be able to get a higher ranked one later
