Yeah, Elite Dangerous was even promoted by Star Citizen
I loved Elite, except that i had to wait to play so long until the C64 read the tape on the taperecorder…
btw. this 3rd party vid about SC i found pretty interesting, because he researched things, we all discussed here. of course he is also very excited and the video is older and not official.
Think that 4k is enough pixels for playing if you have strong enough pc.
4k pixels as in 200*20 or what? Like an old Nokia phone.

4K is a digital cinema standard (4096x2160 resolution). 2160p (3840x2160 resolution) displays are currently being marketed as “4K” displays.
Does anyone know the MIN specs to play Star Citizen? My PC currently cannot even bear the Hangar Module on LOW settings at 1080p.
Min spec and spec to play at 1080p are not same,
The Minimum system requirements are: (Source: “Windows 7 or 8 64-bit, Dual Core CPU (Intel: Core2 Duo 2.4Ghz, AMD: Phenom X2) 8GB of RAM, NVidia Geforce 460GTX, AMD Radeon HD5850 (DirectX 11 only)”.)
The Recommended system requirements are : i5 2500, i7 2600, 2700 or better with a GTX 670 or greater.
And for a smooth experience at Maximum settings at 1080p, a R9 290x or GTX 780 will be required (a GTX 680/R9 280x will likely therefore very likely achieve high comfortably). For a 4K experience, a pair of mid-high end cards (680/770 7970/280x or better) or a future high end card (GTX 880 or R9 390x etc) will be required.
For the Dogfighting Alpha, we’ve got somewhat conflicting reports from Devs (apparently Mark and Ben) on the ground at PAX who’ve said requirements will be 8 GB memory minimum, one 780 will get you MEDIUM graphics settings, and high end (i5-17) CPU is a must. Also “No optimization for the game yet so basically most people who don’t have dual titans or over clocked dual GPUs then u will run from medium to low.” On the other hand, according to Dev Travis day, for High settings at over 40 FPS for v1, "New Haswell i7 arround the 4770k, 16GB RAM@1600MHZ, GTX 680 or better, SSD hard drive" will be required (Not that an “SSD Hard drive” is an actual thing, nor can I see an SSD being actually required at all anyway).
So at this stage, we’re told that a modern i5, 680, 16GB RAM will get you High >40FPS, and we’re also told that an i7 4770k, 8GB (that’s less, curiously) RAM, and a 780 will get you MEDIUM settings. I’ll leave it up to you to work that out, but at my guess, a 2nd or newer gen QuadCore i5 (OC’d or better), 8GB of RAM, GTX 680 will get you medium, and if you’re lucky, an i7, 16GB RAM, and a GTX 780 should get you High.

Problem with network gaming is, that you have more physics to compute - CPU / Memory demand goes up. So the Arena Mode will have higher requirements there than the Offline Hangar.
I think that’s why its confusing, some want to know, “how much do I need for the graphics to run smoothly with as much detail as possible”, and others actually want to know, how much do “you need to play” it.
Generally they are aiming high, and Chris Roberts mentioned, he would not “invest too much” in a card of this generation for Star Citizen, but wait for the release. But one will need definitely strong CPUs/Memory to play it. At least thats what he said in one vidcast i saw.
I am unsure if there is anything solid to say anyway, since the last couple times they went over system specs, the information was always a bit different, overall. Seems like they are still figuring that one out
Ok, i won’t play this game, but still, minimum 8GB. Dafuq.

I will tell you on thursday
I have an I5 760 @ 2,8 GHz with 8 gb ram and a GTX 660 with 2 gb of dedicated memory. I expect to be able to play at least in low graphics, and the final game in medium settings.
My laptop is ready to go.
One of the new toys they are working on:

This… This is so perfect.
I don’t even need any more textures and details. My body is ready.
That’s a plane though. Do they have atmospheric flight as well then in Star Citizen? Wow.
It is under consideration since it is a big project, and they are not doing anything half-baked from what we’ve seen, so if they would work on atmospheric flight, than they would have to completely rework the physics (0 gravity space flight in SC behaves closer to reality than in SCon, so atmospheric flight would be completely different). As for the looks, it was allready asked why do planes have wings, apart from atmosphere entry and landing on planets, the biggest reason coming from RSI was: “because they look cool”. And I damn well agree with that.
Haha, yeah it looks cool. But I was thinking plane because of air intakes, fins and rudders. Wings are fine for space, you have to mount the weapons somewhere.
Guess who is gonna save money to build a pc specifically to run Star Citizen at MAX settings at 6000 x 1080p with a projected FPS of at least 60. This guy.

It is planned yes, almost all small ships will be able of atmospheric flight. Only frigates and above cannot enter.
But as everything in SCitizen, it can change.
afaik atmospheric flight is planned, but low prio for initial release tho, but you will definitely “land on planets”, even if its just a cinematic for a while.
btw. eviscerador: i got the same specs, just a Ti behind it with 3 gigs
unfortunately, i think the 660 will be low later
