This spatial scanner doesn’t highlight players that have blueprints in their hold, does it?

nope
Container in itself has almost the same lootz as alien stashes, for me ratio is about 1 BP out of 15-20 lootz, the rest is anything out of
150 000-1000000 credits (most common)
Screened battery/processing chip? the crafting mats- cant remember exact name
15 000 vouchers
So 1 out of 15-20 looks very good on paper, until you look at how it is - most efficient place to loot these is central 4- since all 4 locations has this node, but there are plenty of people searching for these, or any other type of loot, even with low population of 600-700 people i had to fight for these, plus you can not be in 4 locations simultaneously so while you are searching for one on one side, some one else is taking it from other side. Granted i had a very good 2 hour farm right after servers came online, and invasion was empty. Sometimes you get lucky with location servers distribution so those hunters get on different instance, but that is happening more when there are a lot of people, which is already bad for your farm.
So far for me the ratio has been pretty much 1-1. 1 BP out of 2 loots.

So far I remember I’ve found 1 pirate orion, 3 pirate engine overcharge, 1 mk5 engi shield aura, 1 shield booster S, 1 shield booster L, 1 light cell (1 million credits), 2 screened batteries, 1 processing block, and 3 or 4 CPUs (100k credits)
Heh, I tried the scanner yesterday and had a strange time with it. While it is ok, to check if the location has any loot, it cumbersome to pinpoint it in the more complex locations with several levels. To be of better use to me it should give the both horizontal and vertical indication of where the the item is. Otherwise it will be easier just to remember where the cans are. The only unique feature is the mysterious boxes thingy which I dont have use for yet, since I am only at T3 and learning the ropes.
I have revised my approach to the spatial scanner
It does seem to work the way it should once I had a chance to field it for an hour or so. I agree that without it the mystery boxes are very difficult if not impossible to find, unless someone walks you hand-in-hand to the locations where they appear. After you’ve learned their positions it could be possible to just go checking those places every now and then, but its an inconvenience. Scanner will tell you when they’ve respawned.
The only thing that bothered me was that the loots from the mystery boxes were progressively lower and lower. It started at some Mk. V blueprint, then two 1MM credit artifacts, then 15k voucher for whatever faction, two 350k artifacts and then just some components. Not sure if it was randomized and had I farmed longer I would see those blueprints or higher value items reappear or whether it was intentional to discourage prolonged farming.
the scanner has a range of around 5km
so it will indicate the loot pretty early and it should be easy to spot
Be aware once rare loot is found it will respawn after some minutes, not instant
The loot is random, sometimes more, sometimes less
