Singularity is too overpowered, At least with gunships in t5.

Every T5 match i play there is some gunship out there with singularity cannon, they rip me and my teamates to shreds faster then ANY other weapon in game.  This seems to be unbalanced to me. Do not get me wrong it does take some skill to do this. This cookie-cutter build uses adaptive shield, gunship, overdrive, with gigas, etc is to overpowered compared to other builds. (at least i think the builid is something like that.

Real Example:

Had this one game, 4v4 2 bots, my captain was an engineer, i was guard, and third was something else, One gunship had taken out all of my teamates and the captain, while all 3 of us were shooting at him, with my pulsar active and heavyblaster both mk4 were hitting him, but no matter how many hits he came out relativly unscathed and won the battle for his entire team. Fyi the teams were slightly unbalanced as far as skill rating goes, but the gunships teammates had not even fired a shot before he killed 2-3 of my team mates.

I have even seen pilots with 3 gunships in their loadout all with singluarity…

my team including me all had 0 points, couldn’t do a thing.

Every single high skilled player i have seen has a gunship in their loadout with singularity, that should tell you it is overpowered.

I would say i am an above average pilot with1.7 win loss ratio, ~1450 dsr.

what do you guys think?

imo in t3 its not op but i do not play much t5 so I wouldn’t know. with the slow projectile speed it takes some skill to hit moving targets. anything that is 2000m+ away you might as well ignore because you wont hit it. with practice it is a great weapon for rushing people but thats about it :frowning:

It is great for killing frigates, so I suppose it is working as intended.

Projectile speeds are higher at higher tiers, so bubbles are naturally more powerful in higher tiers.

I’m curious: are supernova bubbles viable in T5?

I still find it to overpowered, either that or adaptive shield is to op one or the other, with 3 of us shooting at him with my pulsar enabled he should have died. But he killed everyone so quick no one had a chance

No. way too slow

Well T-Rex Capt is weak so what do you expect?

anyway crit Bubblebringer have dps almost equal to Mauler with positron

No no no shhhh! Dont bring up the topic dont make the devs change it its perfectly fine XD

You’re not supposed to shoot it at that distance, except at frigates maybe. It’s to be used like a shotgun at (very)short ranges, on maps with lots of cover. Since it has AoE, you don’t need a lot of precision and basically you’ll always hit, even if your aim sucks and projectile speed is slow. In this context, (very) short ranged fights, you might as well try out a Supernova also.

As it is, it’s a very niche, powerful weapon. To use it, you need to get very close to the enemy and expose yourself. Nerf it and it’s niche/usability is lost.

LOL talk about the pot calling the Kettle Black …          A  Prime Bubble shooter himself… :taunt:

bump, still overpowered

get something like that:

been trying out some t5 recently, its pretty strong there  somehow I hit 3-5k on guards with phase shield set to em resist so fair enough

but in t3 I stand by what i said, i think it is well balanced. I use it all the time because it suits my play style. I can’t bum rush people with the other weapons, they are suited for medium/long range. as syrinx said, its pretty much a shotgun

all these suggestions, but no one wants to touch the fact that over 80% of high skill rating players have gunships with singularity. Nuff said. Overuse = overpowered.

There is something with this current gunship/singularity build that needs to change.

Where did you find that number?

just look at ESB tournament if you want to talk about high skill rating players, watch how most of the fighters are using assault railguns and some of them bubbles and lazors

Bubblebrigers aren’t OP. Problem is that in small battles dps>good position and in T5 90% of games are 6vs6 or smaller. For big battles I’d change for gunship with Ions for sure.

With 3 CPU, I would try assault rails with 1 horizon, 1 infrared, one third at your choice (proton, another infrared or another horizon) and critic ammo.

And enjoy your high damage output gauss cannon

I AGREE with Litstorm about this weapon. It’s too OP and needs to be brought down… NOT even a frigate ship is that strong to kill a small ship that fast.

The weapon WAS nerfed, and also gunships since this post was made. Not many people use it now. There are better weapons for gunships than this.

In fact only very few specialized builds and ships use it.

What I don’t understand is how it is so deadly against hull. It’s a freaking EM weapon, and yet it wipes out unshielded targets as if it were a biomorph cannon.

Not even the Gauss cannon can two-shot an interceptor consistently the way the Singularity can.

Try it first before saying it’s OP. You’ll see it’s very circumstantial. And not OP.
