Serious Expansion of USA Servers needed

Hi,

First of all, this is not a rage post.

I really like playing this game, as do most people who get very far. But I cannot stand playing RU server over and over again when I am queuing for my own region.  I understand that most servers are Russian, and I understand that 12:00 GMT-7 if not USA primetime, but what I don’t understand is why US servers are completely inactive at this time.

During our primetime, you queue US, you get a game fairly quickly.  But even when there are plenty of US players at this time, it is impossible to get a game on US servers.  This is a huge problem.  We should be able to play in our region no matter what time it is, or many will leave because their ships are too hard to fly/fly themselves.  I have been having 300+ ping for 20 games straight because I cannot get anything but RU, and several other games at 150+ (which isn’t that bad, but much worse than 50) for EU.

The fact of the matter is, you have a growing base of US players; this is something you cannot ignore.  And it is not right to force US players into other servers because there is not an infrastructure to support them.  This is a free game, yes, but you have _plenty _of paying customers to expand your servers—arguably the most important piece of this game, because this is where the game takes place.

So please, expand your US servers because many of us are becoming increasingly frustrated with _having _to choose slow ships because of ping. I enjoy playing gunship, and covert ops…but I cannot do this with 300 ping because it’s impossibly to fly in a straight line.

And on that note, can you _please _fix this issue? Ships should be completely stationary (not rolling around) during high ping. If you watch ships during this, they look like they are receiving input…even if you let them sit for a minute, they still act like this. Just watch the roll thrusters and you’ll see what I mean.

Thanks for listening, and again, it’s not a ragepost, just an agitated request :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, it is absolutely ridiculous that US players do not get onto US servers for Invasion. I have had just ONE server that was US in Invasion, but none for months. If there are those servers, then it is necessary for the “Region” setting to apply to these game modes so it’s not automatically EU/RU. Thank you.

+1. If players don’t have fun, they won’t play or spend money. Nothing kills a game faster.

You can have all the bells and whistles you like, but ultimately the game has to be  fun.  It’s not fun when you have 200+ ping and infuriating amounts of packet loss.

I’m not aware of the costs of servers, but this is something that should be prioritized.

Also not a rage-response, just frustrated and wanting to see a good game do better.

+1 I agree with this whole-heartedly. Like Nuclear said, player retention is directly influenced by how fun the game is, and te enjoyment of this game is directly linked to playability. If a game is unplayable for players, why bother sticking around? I know that I have sunk a lot of money in to this game, and I don’t want to regret that. But currently, I am starting to. I’ve already decided to not spend any more money on this game, as it is clear some of my money (if not most) is being wasted. Personally, I would love to see my money go to improving servers more than whatever else it’s going to (yes, updates are important, I’m not saying they aren’t, but some updates are pointless).

Like Engle, I greatly enjoy flying gunships and covops, but those quickly become unplayable in ping over 220 or so.

It still boggles my mind as to how the devs can treat the U.S. player base this badly. There are plenty of US players online during EU prime time, but US servers are never seen. I personally wouldn’t mind waiting 3-4 minutes to get a game on a U.S. server than get a game on an RU server after waiting 1-2 minutes.

This is truly a great game, but it will go by the wayside (in the U.S. at least) if nothing is done about this HUGE issue.

Also not a rage-post, just a frustrated US player voicing my opinion

Until there are better servers and more reasonable prices, I’m not spending another cent on this game.

Not that I won’t play it. I still enjoy it, but it’s frustrating when I fly right up to an engineer and pop plasma arc… Only to discover a second later that my ship is nowhere near where I thought it was, getting rekt by a couple of guards.

lets just put all the servers in Antarctica.

lets just put all the servers in Antarctica.

Well this would benefit me at the least :00555:

lets just put all the servers in Antarctica.

Now everyone has 900 ping and 25% packet loss! Even footing for all.

I’d just like to chime in here

Just like this post illustrating the irritating

effects of constant ping and packet loss.

Please look into this.

agreed.

Living in Australia US servers would be nice to provide 220 ping, while still not that great for interceptors it would be better than 350/375 on EU/RUS that I get all the time. South Asia servers get 160 ping, so unless they build a server in my city I probably won’t see 50ms ping ever

Where I am currently US servers do currently provide a ping of 230 - 280 although it comes at a cost of packet loss (around 2%-10%) so I think that I *might* actually want to see US servers in invasion more often + an improved ping, since running around in a 2 vernier inty is impossible on EU servers but slightly plausible on SA or US servers.

Good Afternoon!

First of all thank you sharing your concerns with us. We are aware of such problem and we are thinking on how to fix it.

Kind Regards,

IAXIL

yeah the U.S. servers are even lagging for me lately. packet loss and high ping on eu, u.s., and rus.

I wander whose fault is that…

I wander whose fault is that…

hmmm well you don’t have to “wander” anymore.

Base also complained of packet loss on a game when we were playing together. 2 players in 2 different places with lag simultaneously? has to be the easter bunny’s fault.

Even I get packet loss, and I have like one of the best ISP’s in Canada (Bell Aliant), It’s Fibre optic connetions, and the ping on russian servers is usually around 150. Which is quite good, however, I do get packet loss and other issues on US servers sometimes, but mostly russian servers. Any other game is perfectly fine. It’s their servers. I get a good 10-50 ping on any other game.

Its probably cheap servers they use, instead of a service like Amazon that offers really good servers.

I know when I was hosting with 1and1, hosted in the US, had tons of packet loss, and connection issues. I switched to amazon, which is perfectly fine.

A) your “FiberOptic” has nothing to do with Ping on Ru servers

B) I am also in Canada, and i am using some cheap internet provider which leases network infrastructure from Roggers and resell it to customers cheaper than Roggers.

I can not remember when was the last time i had a packet loss on US or EU servers (outside when entire player base was having issues and being randomly disconnected from games and hangars)

I get around 150 Ping on Ru servers and packet loss is extremely rare and in those rare cases it is rarely above 5%, on top of that most of the time when this happened I can narrow down that there is some-kind of issue with 3rd party routing companies that are in the way between me and a server.

Question: What am I doing wrong?

I have 5000 games by now, that is more than enough of a “sample pool” to rule out simple “lucky servers” case

then maybe it’s a routing issue.

people in certain places could not log on to sc because of their routing issues, maybe the lag is caused by that.

Also, it seems like canadians have better ping on servers than americans do… :(

Its sort of true, canada has been internet price/speed ratio then the US.
