You do realise that ‘internet speed’ refers to amount of data, i.e volume that can pass trough in a fraction of time. The actual speed of 1 bit (distance relative to time) , or how fast it travels from your pc to the destination, is not affected by this, what will contribute to the ping is the actual distance of cables that this 1 bit must travel trough and how many routing nodes are in the way. As long as your home cable internet connection can pass more data per second than application requires, there is no change in ping.
In fact simple change from how your pc is connected to the router is more important these days than your internet 'speed, or hoe your own router setup, especially if its a wifi router/modem/network card.
don’t be mean to kosty! he knows more than every1 else in da world. he built da internet u know and he invented social networking too! he’s a dangerous haxor also.
You can only dream to know as much as i do.
A) your “FiberOptic” has nothing to do with Ping on Ru servers

it does have something to do with ping. if you don’t have enough bandwidth, you will have sky high ping and packet loss.
also the fiber optic cable could be damaged so that would affect ping. It does have something to do with ping. :D
call me a nitpicker. everyone else does.
Kost is right for the most part. High ping is most commonly a direct result of distance from the server to you. Since you live in California, your ping to RU servers is going to be much higher than someone who lives on the East Coast (to EU servers too). However, high ping can sometimes be caused by issues in the network pipeline, which can either come on the server’s end, in which case everyone on that server will be affected, or on the player’s end. The player’s end is much more common, typically it is caused by multiple downloads happening on the same internet connection, or if the connection to your network is low.
Packet loss occurs when the data does not arrive to its destination correctly. This is typically an issue on the server’s end, but in some cases, it can be on your end due to an issue with your ISP (although this is rare).

You can have high ping and high bandwidth or low ping and low bandwidth. The ping is the speed of the route and is not necessarily related to your packet loss
which is usually caused by excess traffic, noise, and/or poor connection (many times on your end)
Just curious is your www.pingtest.net clean when you are having issues?

Muhahahahaha.
Canada master race. B* score.
Yeah, Canada seems to get better ping and packet loss than people in the USA.

yeah and i think they should move their servers to a more central location. If u move the Rus and EU servers as close to california as possible, it won’t really affect russian ping that much but it will greatly affect U.S. ping.

srsly tho, do you even know what ur talking about? Putting a server as close to California as possible but still being in RU would mean moving it as far East as possible in RU, thus increasing the ping for the majority of the RU population. With an EU server, it would have to be put in Spain or something, thus increasing the ping for the majority of the EU and RU population.
The servers are already centralized (pretty much). US servers are in Dallas, EU I’m not sure, but I would assume there are some in various places (maybe Germany/France ish area). RU servers are probably in Moscow or close to Moscow. What I do know for sure though is that locations are chosen to optimize performance for players of that region.

think about it. if u moved it to spain, then we’d have good ping dirk. so shutup lol
srsly tho, if they moved eu to spain and rus towards europe, U.S. would have better ping, eu would have higher ping on eu but lower on rus and probably have good ping (under 100) on both. the russians would probz suffer some ping raise tho so that wouldn’t be good. of course, their pings probably would end up being like 70.
(anything above 10 for them is terrible lag city and they would start raging about their 11 pings and 0 packet loss. )
or another option would be to have less servers in the same place. in other words, have a bunch of servers spread out. then it would have an easier time finding a central location.

Did you even read what I said?
Server locations are picked for optimal performance for people OF THAT REGION!!!
Also, 83% of the player base is RU, so why should the devs care how our performance is on RU servers?

Oil Rigs.
The servers are located on oil rigs floating out in the Pacific and Atlantic. That’s the problem.

No no, you got it all wrong! The best solution (and the only solution actually) is to put them at the North Pole and the South Pole. That way everyone is approxinately the same distance away. We would get an increase in player base due to penguins and polar bears, AND Gaijin will save money since the server machines will not need to be cooled! All problems solved! Now that’s globalisation for you

So russian servers are supposed to be best for russians, european servers are best for europeans and russians, and u.s. servers are best for u.s. and decent for eu and rus?

Afaik EU servers are in the Netherlands.

they should be in germany or something.
german enginnering for servers!
das server.
They’ve always been “Working on the server issues” yet its always been like this.

you forgot that decent US pilots can do well on EU and RU servers as well.
What i meant was the server locations are centralized to that region. So RU servers are in a central location to all the RU pilots, EU in a centralized location to all EU pilots (Netherlands apparently), and US are centralized for US pilots (Dallas).
I know plenty of EU and RU pilots who get the same high ping on US servers that we get on RU servers, so it isn’t a one-way street
