Maybe you mis read I was talking about the doom and gloom post that say things like… fix this or I am never comming back… Then months later nothing fixed to their liking and their still here. I also like how these same folks (and it seems to be the same group) think they are the core of the game. Its still a new game, going to be in beta a long time. You are constantly being relplaced by other new players that like the game. In the end its a team based game and pugging is always gonna be harder then running with a crew. Remeber its not flaming if your giving constructive qq but threatening to leave because you don’t get your way is flaming and pointless. Like it or not you agreed to the terms of service.
on a side note I am 46 and the world doesn’t look all white lol
BETA excuse again? jezus…
This game is not in BETA, it’s been far too long for that.
It’s like saying WoT is still in beta.
Anyway, people are leaving for valid reason. 8.0 was a very bad patch, horribly thought out and even worse in implemantation.
Actually the game is still in beta. I mean, its release patch is 0.8.0…we didn’t even get a chance to even get to 1.0.0 which is alpha…
They are allowing people to spend real life money in the game, its out on steam and other places, and everyone is allowed in without any special testing lists…
Sure seems like a released game, no matter what bs label/name it has. “beta beta beta” lol so what. Can I pay for this, right now? Yes. Can I get it from steam? Yes. Do I have to be on a special tester list? No. Game is released, end of discussion. 0.8 or 1.8, the number makes no difference.
(Als, fyi, the gamedev cycle is alpha (very unfinished) → beta (almost done) → gold/release (finished, printable to discs/released to general public). 1.0 normally is referred to as a released game / gone gold, which is the point where normal people should get in and be able to buy it / stuff in it…)
oh using the this isnt beta excuse…just because you can spend money on the game doesn’t mean its finished. You can kick that dead horse all you want but the terms of service state its a beta. Until the game goes live its a work in progress. If you can’t handle that or want to rage fine. It doesn’t change the state of the game. Its a new business model that lets you play the game before its finished and allows for input by the players. It doesn’t mean your wrong about whatever the hell you don’t like it means all you can do is state your case. The devs have more info then you do on how the game is going. You are getting a game built for pc. Not xbox or wii. Its not a crappy port its a pc game. You should understand that this model of game production is the savior of pc gaming. You can get onboard with the devs or you can be frustrated and unhappy. The choice is yours play or don’t play. Give your opinion and move on if the devs are killing the game. You be vindicated if they close the project down or not if it stays around.
and WOT was in beta for ever lol
so will this one lol
cheers
About time someone clarified this.

They mislabel it as being in beta. It technically is by their standards, but typically beta is for bug/load testing.
As soon as they start charging cash for the game, it’s no longer truly a beta. It can say it is, but it isn’t. The defining line between beta/release is the monetary aspect, just as the difference between alpha and beta is how many people it’s open to.
What it boils down to is that it’s no longer in the traditional beta environment, but advertised and charged for like the full product. They’re in a state with the game where they are responsible to customers as if it is a release environment, that doesn’t change.
Just because their standards and labeling are terrible doesn’t mean we shouldn’t give “feedback” that it’s terrible. In fact, we’re just being responsible beta testers in pointing out how their game is bugged.

Clarified what now? That’s a wonderfully referenced post there. I’m not sure if you’re just preparing the way for me or what.

Read these again. Regardless of your refusal to accept a new business model for the gaming industry, you all agreed to the Eula and terms of service. It doesn’t matter what other games or other people say your agreement with SC is legally binding. So although you don’t except that its in beta for “real”. If you played the game your accepting the conditions in which the game is presented. Give feed back but don’t expect results fast or in your favor.
Its probably time to close this thread
there is nothing left to kick on this horse.

I don’t understand why people like you defend stupid business practices…
I don’t understand why people like you defend stupid business practices…
I don’t get why people like you complain when its your own fault for joining in on this so called stupid business practice. Who is stupid, the devs for selling a beta or you for buying it? If you don’t want to pay for a beta then don’t.

If you open up Steam and go to Star Conflict’s store page, you will see a list of DLC and not a single word of “beta” on the page. We can sit here and argue all day about the semantics of when the word “beta” should and should not be used in labeling a game, but it won’t get us anywhere. The truth is that when a game start charging for money, players should hold the game and its developers at a higher standard. The term “beta” is not an omnipotent shield that developers can hide behind for every criticism.
I personally am not asking or expecting a perfect game. Yet I don’t understand why players would not realize buying into the “beta excuse” will only result more incomplete and poorly made games entering the market, which I so far assumed is against the common player interest.
Mislabeling a lobby based game an MMO is not an ethical business practice, nor is games staying in the state of “perpetual beta”. Those aren’t the point of this thread. The OP is complaining the game doesn’t deliver enough content for the price tab, and free players are severely hamstrung. Within the first page someone (predictably) brought the same crappy “this is beta” argument in and the discussion went downhill after that. There are many others subscription based games out there that offer content magnitudes richer than SC, and microtransaction based games which their free players have better footing compare to the paying players.
And I bring this up isn’t to incite self-censorship some posters in this thread seem to favor. I bring this up because I want this game to be a better game where it once again would worth the money I spent.
Also, iirc eula’s and terms-of-service are not enforcable in european courts. So if you want to base your argument on “read the eula olololol” I say “So what? It’s just random text with no true meaning.”
Also, iirc eula’s and terms-of-service are not enforcable in european courts.
If you’re talking about the ruling I think you are, that only covered the resale of software, it didn’t even slightly void all EULAs, and it didn’t affect terms of service at all; they’re not even mentioned.
I am still trying to find ‘logic’ in this game… Still can’t.
I can only see flaws. I’m close to stopping myself.
Hm. I’ve come close to stopping playing as well, to be honest.
Reasons for staying:
– Friends, corporation pals.
– Still a nice feel to the flight model
Reasons for leaving:
– baconspam.
– I’m at T2, I don’t like T3 pvp… There’s no point for me to look forward to any further unlocks. I’ve maxed the ships I like (blues, not purples)… (*big issue* - for me, progression is what mostly keeps me in games)
– Critstacked gunships all over the place
– No form of exploration, or casual flying, or true reconnaisance. Just three variations of a battle arena in pvp and same scenarios with incredibly stupid hp amounts in pve (*big issue* - I am jsut sick of the same modes and all-combat nature of them)
– No point to sector conquest, or any of the corp stuff beyond a big friendlist.
– I’ve lost way too many games in a row lately. This may seem selfish and ridiculous, but I’m just not a fan of losing all the time. And yet that’s what has been happening lately, more and more, when we as jericho have to go up against all the strong corporation squads from fed (well, and nasa). With fed population being the way it is, it feels like we’re far more likely to get matched up against a very strong enemy corp squad, than with decent jericho players on our side…

Matchmaking doesn’t work how you think it works. Which side you’re on makes absolutely no difference to who you have on your team or against you.
Which doesn’t change the fact that I’ve had a ton of matches with me + random new players vs. a full loadout of corp hitsquads one bit.
If ya can’t beat them, Join them…
Why the hell is there 115 posts under the thread titled – Sadly, stopping with the game.
Because it underlies our inner desire to leave, but for various reasons, we can’t.

So… you’re going to quit because you’ve had a string of bad luck? Well, I guess it was only a matter of time then.
