Abosulutley not. NASA members can care less about DSR as it generally means nothing but of a basis of how much a person plays and at what level there skill is. Russian Corps care about DSR so much that they will stop at nothing to win
DSR is not a function of winning nor amount of battles played. Since the game should be about winning, however, I was surprised to see that they implemented individual Elo type rating based on K/D ratio alone. But since they didn’t, as Kine said, if you play for DSR you typically ignore objectives.
I dont want matches that are completely one sided. Its not fun. And when non of my corp mates have fun, there is that lingering question “Why the hell are we even bothering?”
But that’s the part I found sad. You decide before the battle started that you will lose because of certain strong opponents and instead of rising up to the challenge to go up against to improve and eventually figure out how to beat them you go afk instead, dooming your entire team to a loss (although I assume this is about 3v3 or 4v4 pairings) and hope for weaker opponents next time.
Wishing you guys to find your will to fight again!
Or maybe my fighting spirit will be broken by ESB as well once I move up to T4. I faced off against ComradTroY and his squad in a T1-T3 game recently. It was clear from the start that it was going to be a loss but that was because of ship choices. The ESB guys did go for objectives though. Did my best to get them killed but they played it very tight, were giving no opening (and teamplay on my side was non-existent). Certainly good team players.
That also goes to say that my DSR fluctuates so much that you really cant tell if I am a bad player or one that dont care. I seen it goe from 1200 to 1450 and then back to 1340…in less than 5 matches…
Haha yeah, a single match of detonation can drop me down 50 points (which seems to be the limit per match) if I’m very unlucky (has happened). None of the ratings you mentioned indicate a bad player btw.
They broke a number of images on the forums so among other things the up-vote arrow doesn’t show up. It’s still possible to up-vote if you know how, but rather than explaining that in detail I’d say just wait until they fix it.
Assuming you wanted to up-vote the OP I did it for you.
from my observation (at lower tier and mostly non elite corp) they play ultra-defensively and hardly ever pursue objectives.
that isn’t to say they lack skill, quite the contrary - most russian solo heroes I fly against / with have bags of skill. they only refuse to push for strategic advantages if there is even a risk of getting themselves blown up.
that normally translates to them giving away wins if opposing team puts up a fight or
they steamroll everyone because opponents are of lesser skill and winning the match a pleasant byproduct.
from memory I can only remember one Russian corp (cant remember which) that played for wins every single time. They relied heavily on frigballs but atleast they played the game mode. Other than those guys, the stereotype remains generally true.
Yeah, when you have a team that goes for objectives, then we can totally stop them and be on par with it. But when its a 3v3 combat recon or a capture the beacons. Then…its turns to “be stomped or do the stomping”
Anyone else not able to upvote posts?
I have no Idea whats going on with the forums…

I forgot to mention that it is strictly 3v3 or 4v4 with squad mates

We fight to clear the game as fast as possible to spend lest time grinding, but sometimes…progress is hampered.
As the leader of the elusive SRDS, I base all my tactical decisions on my teammates. Its up to them if they want to be stomped by the occasional 3v3 match. I have no say in the matter, as I personally can care less. I want to make those Russian corps feel the pain my sweet rolls can bring! Thus you have to take in everyones thoughts on the matter and act accordingly. But NEVER leave the game, only cease to play to gain credits for that particular match.

Also forgot to mention that this problems start EXCLUSIVELY at T4/5

Yet, some corps base that on there recruitment process, I think it needs to based on something else.
accurate measure can only be made when under duress. everyone is a team player when they have things their way.
Nope, everyone certainly is not. And I can put out a certain level of duress myself.
Those three ESB guys I encountered did team play to a higher level than your run of the mill corp squad guys that just click together into battle and each then go off to do their own thing. In fact they covered each other very well.

I agree. Same can be said of NASA. In T4 and T5, modules, ships and gear do not count. In order to win, you need sound tactics, great maneuvering and excellent communication to overcome the objectives. Literally take it like you are IN the military and if you die, you ruin it for the team.

Well, among others. Thankfully, I figured out how to do it myself.
Hah, just met ESB in battle again and this time figured out how they do it: People are scared and simply don’t attack them!
Was a terrible battle, was just testing out whether servers had gotten any better but was a lag fest as usual. I tend not do lose ships without lag but here I went through all 3 of my ships like everybody else - except for the ESB guys as you can see.
And it’s not that ComradTroY at least was hiding (the other one was in a recon and hiding indeed after losing his engineer). He was sitting in his fat guard well exposed, but I didn’t see him get attacked once, instead the enemy would even fly past him to get at ships behind him instead. Pretty funny what reputation can do for you I guess.
reputation is a factor yes… but I still do my job especially when I see an opening; like many do I’m sure.
they aren’t immortals and back on-topic majority of the games MM put together are really OK’ish despite being mixed tiers
it’s just that these games are VERY different to one another.
VS elite corp small battle
When crossing tiers
Same tier
And people have problems adjusting to it from game to game like me when I go on a marathon and zombie it through.
The fact game itself doesn’t notify you clearly enough the rank difference only makes it worse. Fighting R11/12 in my R7/8 is more than doable in any ship class. But the game is very different compared to R8 vs R9 for example and like many people I assume, I don’t check for it at game start and the initial clash may or may not signal what kind of game it is. So people push for things they shouldn’t and generally manage risk incorrectly.
There isn’t culture for handling mixed tiers by the players as well. Not like what has developed for other aspects of the game eg. captaining, beacon hunts, support play etc. And highly unlikely a positive one will develop anytime soon because (my opinion anyways) mixed tiers handling is very team oriented and majority of PVP matches are still made up of large portions of random single players.
Well remember. Moving to T4 has just as much as a gap, gameplay wise not balance wise, as T2.
True pre-0.9
T2 and T3 now is exactly the same unless the old guards of T3 tier down for whatever reason. Right now they play out like the old T2 and gameplay wise there isn’t anything game breaking so mixed tiers down here is fine.
T3/T4 - lol - I’d say how many proper squads are on each side. if none - it degenerates into a deathmatch / DSR farm and no sweetrolls for guessing correctly who wins most of the time.
hint: T4 tackler can park in-front of my Laser R8 Engineer and will see no need to move.

Yup. I can totally agree to that.
Also has anyone notice the forums being obnoxious?
I hope we’re not the vocal minority. I hope we represent the majority. From what I’ve seen, we do have a large variety of play styles and personalities.

I like chasing them, smashed one of their T4 ships in T3.
And here’s a tip: most squad-only players are plain awful at 1v1 and making decisions alone because they always rely on the others’ help to get out of trouble (especially on ECM).

+1 to that.
I suck with out my team. Remember that.
Note to players that want to kill me: If you see me alone, shoot me for leaving my team.
