Exceptionally bad news folks. Another dev just posted in the russian thread about the patch.
http://forum.star-conflict.ru/index.php?/topic/33982-star-conflict-obt-v0712/?p=715058
I’ll translate what he said (emphasis mine):
This is fully in line with the line that several mods and CBT testers were pushing in that thread: that matchmaker works well and most people are happy with it, and that people that are unhappy with it are either running into “bugs” or are whiners and shouldn’t talk. People who posted pics got told that their T2 vs T4 fights were appropriate for a [vast number of excuses] and that T2 vs T3/T3 vs T4 is so even, you shouldn’t even complain.
Devs need to stop listening to feedback from their little circle of friends/testers and start listening to the community as a whole.
As I’ve said before, my corp has suffered about a 90% activity drop in the last few patches. First it was the loyalty patch that basically killed their ambition to play seriously and now with the match-making it’s “why bother?” If 50-some odd people in 1 corporation feel that way - and I know these numbers have been reflected in other corps (I’ve talked to people about it) how is it that this change is generally well-received and these dying corporations are just someone’s outliers?
And for the record, these people aren’t just F2P newbies expecting a free ride, many of them had picked up steam DLC packs or added game-time to their accounts - they’re quite familiar with the F2P (P2W) model and are just completely dissatisfied with the direction this game is going, they don’t don’t even want to continue investing time into a game they know they’re going to quit based on the direction of the company.
Some people just hear what they want to hear, in this case it’s changes that are obviously being designed to force people into Premium gametime (which I’m all for) and into gold ships (which I’m not for) - and they’re cherry picking positive feedback to reassure themselves they’ve made the right decisions.
This game isn’t and will never be a proper MMO - it’s not Everquest in space. Nobody wants to grind for 20,000 hours to get ahead. The appeal of this game was; casual appeal, good game mechanics, low barrier to entry; and a seemingly fair pay model. At this point I think all of those positive attributes have been ruined.
tl;dr
Stop listening to people who reaffirm your beliefs, start looking at the community as a whole. Also stop wrecking the good thing that was your game.
