Mismatched matchmaking

@ryugemini

No thanks, t3 was fine without king castor squads squatting on everything.

I was looking forward to earning me t4, now i am facing fully geared t4’s in juuuust soooo eqipped t3’s

Tier 3 :

1 hour, 3 games, 3 times 6v6, one squad against no squad, they raped us with frigates … Boring.

oh hey. im almost sure the devs are reading this so i wanted to point out some stuff that happened this weekend.

a corpie decided to farm t1. he asked for corpies to equip t1 ships and fly with him, we were ranked against t1~t2. it wasnt challenging, it wasnt special nor rewarding, but we always won, and the way we did it, we were utterly demolishing the competition. none of us lost a single ship, and that made me feel like we could have taken a full t2 game with some t3 ships. we were pratically griefing newbies.

i started a solo pvp game with a rank 4 ship. it was the base ship and i was pleased with my first signifcant purchase on that faction. i, to my surprise, was stacked on a early t1~t2 game. it was a easy victory, i didnt lost the ship not even once, scored signifcantly higher that my team mates, etc. felt like again, i managed to grief newbies. later on i repeated this with a corpie that wanted to grind t2, for even better results. then again, with a rank 5 ship. i was rarely set against t2~t3, and when i did, it was a good challenging game that i could enjoy, otherwise, i grieved players.

i tried a game with my rank 8 interceptor, black boomber (wich is not black at all, what a disapointment). stacked against t2 and t3, had a pretty good game. died about 5 times (my average), had my challenges, got pushed and pushed back, etc. game was fun and challenging, except when i found t4 frigates that just wouldnt die, and sometimes this was a constant. pounded it from behind with plasma, webbed it, dropped mines, leeched their shield, used ion and statis, stacked thermal resists, you name it. they made the game no fun simply because nothing id do would even cancel them for long. and that pulsar, sometimes i forget why i like fighters. the pulsar reminds me of that.

i think squads should really have a “bonus” to their skill because even if they are just stacking together, its more dangerous that most pubs. t4s should always be divided evenly on the teams because the game will always orbit those bears. and im willing to go on my way to say your skill factor is in fact efficiency, wich lacks a death count, forcing players that are skilled to be paired with unskilled players that know how to suicide run.

I haven’t logged on Star Conflict since the second day after the patch. Why? WarThunder. I advice all dogfighting fans to get this game. At least its BALANCED to huge degree compared to Star Conflict atm. when it comes to Tier differences.

(Mainly due to the gap between Tiers isnt as huge as in this game. aswell the MM is only between 1 rank. Rank 1-2 battles. 3-4 battles. etc.) in a way, its the MM that Star Conflict used to have.

And what makes it even wierded. It’s also a Gajin game. however, much more popular.

So my advice to people who still wanna fight the good fight. Go try WarThunder untill they fix up Star Conflict again.

I am concerned that the player base is now too small for single tier matchmaking  – queue times were growing longer as the number of online pilots has steadily declined.

This. So absolutely this. Waiting queues have been getting longer and longer, and i seriously doubt there are enough active people to have it back the way it was, without heavy botting…

+1 to new MM ruining the game

sure waiting qeue is getting longer and longer, but it was never immensly long. maybe 3-5 minutes or so at max. enough to scroll through a couple of post in 9gag.

Regardless, mixing all tiers into a ridicoulus fashion and scaring most of the playerbase off (including me) wont really help against the waiting qeues.

If they want to reduce their waiting qeues, they need to make the game more appealing. Find a balance of grinding and playing. Some grind is needed to maintain activity, but to much and activity will be even less. To little and people will get quickly tired of it.

Also it is not marketted well other than via Steam. Add some banners on youtube and other popular sites. Give gold reward to members on reqruiting friends and people they know to start playing. Encourage playerbase to grow. Not discourage them.

In all honesty, when I started off, before the patch and before that patch aswell. The qeue times was just fine. Alittle sluggish at the high tiers, but accaptable. And I also noticed that the Tier 2 was the most player Tier and most people seem to enjoy it. (So why deny them the enjoyment?).

So mixing tiers to reduce qeue time is the most ridiculous excuse to be used.

Also adding more PvE content will also help alot in growing the playerbase as I know alot of players are mainly interested in PvE, example my friends who seems to enjoy pve above pvp for some reason, and also were heavy EvE players, they actually enjoyed the PvE content more than the pvp. However, they got tired on only having 2 missions and quitted, but while they were playing, they rotated between PvE and PvP. Adding more people to the qeue.

So again, the slight lack of content, and that most players dont actually realise this is a unfinished game and is in beta stage. People expect more than what is already given.

Also the fact you can already buy the game and so forth via steam, can also be misleading.

All comes down to the bottom fact that its poorly marketted.

One of the reason World of Tanks hit big was exactly the reason they Marketted Heavily. Almost every gaming site and site beyond I would see a cheesy WoT banner. They even had TV commercials to some extent in History Channels and War-Documentary channels.

If it werent for their marketting, i wouldnt even have played WoT.

They also encouraged people via facebook and other social media to reqruit members in the early stages of WoT, rewarding referrances. I even had a period where I was technically drawing Tank-Girl-Manga on the local anime sites I was activly using to get people interested in the game, and I even won a Comic-Competition WoT was hosting on their site. But that was then, when WoT was new, fresh and fun. While now its spiraled into crap-ness in my taste.

One of the main reasons I enjoyed Star Conflict so much. It was like WoT, only better, and in space. With none of the mix-tier Bullshit, and ENJOYABLE AND FUN gamemodes rather than Deathmatch camping galore 24/7.

But now that they started with the Mix-tier bullshit, it completely killed the game for me.

You can make the most awesome game in history, but it helps little if noone knows about it.

The devs said the are going to market it only when it is gold m8, commercials n stuff

I am aware of that. But throwing out some banners: “Try Revulotionary space-ship combat game! Get free BETA Access now!”

On certain sites or whatnot, will help increase the Beta-playerbase.

cause this is where the issue is starting to dwell into.

To many people leaving compared to people joining. And with the Mix tier battles, scaring off alot of new players (what the fun being in a stock-ship and face against foes you stand no chanse against and you hardly even know the game?) leaves a pretty bad first-impression.

And my main point was that You cant really decide certain stuff due to playerbase. Mixing different tiers into same battles to “shorten” the qeue, is definatly no the right approach towards a dwindling playerbase.

Nor is it a valid excuse.

If they really wanted to shorten the qeues. One approach is to add Bonus rewards for certain Tiers. example being: This week, Tier 1 gets 100% increase reward and reputation. Next week. Tier 2. Week after that, Tier 3. And after that. Tier 4.

It will increase the qeue for the other tiers, but make the qeues shorter for other tiers. So when its a bonus week for Tier A. You might want to start playing Tier A instead of B, if you want to have fast games. And just rub yourself with a doze of patientce untill the bonus week for your favourite Tier starts.

btw Have the devs ‘said’ anything about unmixing the tiers? It appears the ‘dev answers’ section was gathering dust before this giant screw to the player base…

it does makes sense to only advertise the game once its ready. i wouldnt do so on its current state.

PVE content is kinda bad for this game. the devs are adding tier 5 and dreadnoughts too, so we might get more pvp modes wich is a nice thing. PVE as it is, is just a thing you do when you are burned from so many tryhards on PVP, not really the main attraction of the game.

altho i swear if t1 green modules were more common, newbies would have a blast. and somehow i feel like t3 greens are ultra hard to get.

My observations so far. It sucks but for 3 main reasons that I came Across.

1. Can’t stick to the Tier that I want to grind in and the game penalises you for doing that.

I usually stick to T2 matches to fly with my corp and help them out. It was great having a lot of people in the same matches and the same Tier and the same game. But this patch <Censored> it up. I there is no point of having squads now if your entire T2 squad is thrown in against T3 and T4 ships. This ruins the fun factor to play with friends for me and my corp and my friends.

Like how can I play with my little brother in T1 if it gives me no EXP or Loyalty  He doesn’t want to play anymore after I told him the changes and hes 14.

2. Simply put, regardless of skill people like staying Tiers. Nuff said.

  1. If they increased the loot and the loyalty and the rewards for the multi tier MM, then it would compensate for it. But there has no compensation for getting raped, and when you do, you cant gain any loyalty. None. How can you complete your objective when you lose every match for get insta killed by a player in a superior ship?

Yup this ruined the game for me. all me and my friends that started playin hav now stopped playing

absolute joke, did u not even listen to the poll?

just look at the number of people and games running ATM the game is dying badly

ofcourse it makes sence, but in todays game marked, getting Beta access is highly sought after by many. Some games already marketting, just alittlebit while they are still in Beta. Countless of Korean MMO’s are throwing banners everywhere, despite their games only being in Beta. other non-korean games for example is FireFall. Even World of Tanks had some banners flying out while it was in Beta stage. War of the Roses had some stuff going on while it was in Beta aswell.

And in games like Star Conflict, where you can already “buy” in game services, while still in beta stage. I do not really see the reason -not- to. If you get to keep your progress and ships that you obtain in Beta, on its release. It’s still a money-potential to earn if the game is good and going a correct path. You can already buy Premium packs, and Premium stuff (credits, whatnot). I dont really see the reason not to advertise, even by some very limited extent, for the sake of getting more players, if the playerbase is turning to small.

Steam release max players - 4000

After 2 patches regarding loyalty and MM - went down to 1200

Last sunday when I played - 900

This is like very pre steam release, they reverted back to the badlands…xxxx.

Who frakkin cares? It’s not the advertising thats ruining the game at this very second- It’s the universally despised new MM. I keep signing on, hoping to see a new patch on the launcher, (or even a frakking rollback), only to see that SC is indeed still ruined. It used to give me pure pleasure and I still want it, but the SC moments that once gave me that pleasure now just suck. It’s frustrating. It’s like jerking off only to lose the ability to feel from the waist down seconds from completion and then getting a bucket of mouldy crap dumped on you. It’s like expecting candy and recieving balltaps.

900 is about peak ATM.

way down from the 2k i was seein regularly recently.

this move has actually INCREASED the wait time on games due to less people playin lol

depends on time zones. this weekend , when i played , around 1700-1998 players where online and playing. Good , maybe most of where complaining in the ingame chat , but there where online xD

Online and complaining…sounds legit

Its just mind blowing how fast they can mess things up. And it now takes 3 to 4 minutes for a game now, before it was exactly 20 seconds or less. And that was for T2 and T3. T1 was instant.

Did I mention I fking hate this patch? Is gaijin even reading their forums?
