just lost my interest in this game, not gonna play till its fixed, what a waste of 100 bucks spent on those steam DLCs. never again. consider my wallet permanently closed for this dev/publisher.
So I just calculated, I’d be able to rank up my vanguard faction from 8 to 9 but then I’d have to wait till tomorrow to even make a dent into 9-10 and that is assuming I do every contract (Which I never do). Now since fed is the race I fly it will be easier to rank up though if I want to rank up legion I’d probably be in it for a week unless I bought a couple empire ships just to complete the contracts… Which I definetly will not do…
The game is deciding what I can fly and that is completely game breaking.
I can understand why they made it like this, so that the ‘better’ faction items would take more time to acquire. Though personally the rewards seem a bit too low, and the wait time on the contracts can be rather lengthy. That and the cost of swapping to another faction’s contracts is rather extensive. I like the idea but they should have changed the way the contract system works, Reward, Time, and accessibility.
I don’t usually comment on these sorts of things but I think it’s worth mentioning that the pendulum of balance tends to sing back and forth until it’s achieved a happy medium. In this case it’s quite clearly swung too far into the grindy side.
Hopefully the Devs will rectify the error in the near future - either returning to the previous loyalty system or greatly reducing the timers on the contracts and allowing more simultaneous contracts to selected.
I’ve recruited numerous people to this game and recommended the game to many more, but I don’t think I could continue to recommend the game to anyone as is. It’s just such an egregious affront to everything to so blatantly reward the early adopters and punish those unfortunate enough to be on a week late to the game.
I liked this game because it was good simple fun with enjoyable mechanics that didn’t make me feel like gaining reputation, loyalty or even money was particularly grindy(with premium). The grind at the moment and the idea of having to do significantly more is just sapping the enjoyment out of it for me - I can’t see myself continuing this for long.
I absolutely agree, Your opinions should be herd. As it stands I’m not supper happy with the changes either. But I went into this knowing it was a pay to win system, so I can’t be terribly irate now that they have turn up the heat. There are still tons of ways around the pay to win system. PVE farming nets you at least a green every run, which at T2 is about 7-8 minutes if you know what you are doing. Green are comparable to blues and don’t require rep.
Not to sound insulting, but if you want to win there’s a way. If your totally disappointed with the change look into PvE. With 3 other guys from my corp we can farm about 6-7 greans (and sometimes purples!!!) from running the scenarios.
Actually I was pleasantly surprised that this game was NOT pay to win but merely pay to remove the average grind. Almost everything that you could buy could be gotten by properly playing the game, the license sped up things but even playing without wasn’t that much of a difference. Save for few Steam Dlc ships, none of the purchasable ships were that different from the normal ones, even the dlc ships weren’t that much of an advantage.
PvE is not that fun, and have you done t3 PvE? Those can take at least 20 minutes. I haven’t even tried t4 PvE yet
This update drastically changes the game not in a good way.
I have found this post to be quite entertaining, the most vehement back-lash has come from players who brag about the money they have invested into this game. In fact the change will most likely exacerbate the pay to win options, which many people have already taken full advantage of. Personally I am content with the change. As it stands blues are more common than greens, and if were following the common MMO loot coloring system that’s a little backwards. Now I won’t lie to you, I have a few hundred hours invested into this game and already have all sub factions to at least 9, so when I saw the news all I could think was how overpowered I would be. Most my ships can fit full blues as sit stands, so no skin off my back.
As a final thought-
In the most resent Q&A the devs mentioned implementing a crafting system, which I would assume would help to gear out your ship. So look to the future folks.
P.S. remember this is BETA people, the money you/we have invested into the game at this point should be considered a donation to the developers. If you feel you have been shafted that’s on you. In Beta things change, a lot, the developers need do do there job. If you are looking for a secure investment “donating” to a beta game might not be the strongest choice.
Guess what? Its not stated at all on Steam that its beta. So someone buying the DLC there might not be aware that the game isnt released. Besides, why is it only people that are “done” with the loyalty grind that says everything is fine and dandy with the change?
And no, I dont consider any money I spend on any game a “donation” unless its a kickstarter campaign.
It’s pretty upsetting to have purchased a license that originally helped increase loyalty gain and then loyalty is instantly gone.
Isn’t that false advertising?
Such a let down of a change, and I here I was thinking this was one of the better games I had played in a long time. I was absolutely excited to play this game and to think where future patches would take it; that attitude is now completely ruined by this greedy stupidity, I’m not gonna buy your stupid gold items just because you make the good xxxx a mile long grind. This needs to be changed ASAP. Not next week, not whenever the next patch is, it needs to be reverted immediately.
Btw i gotta add this again.
Please dear dev’s please do reverse this specific change, or make contracts actually worth something!
Well there is no way that this is helpful to any one who has been posting here, see as I am the only one who can find an advantage with the current situation.
The pay to win allows you to by yellow which are rep free blues, so I’m not quite sure what all the fuss is about. That comment being directed towards the players who have openly come out and said they have spent 200+ dollars on this game.
I can’t help but laugh at all the idiots on this thread who’re essentially saying “Hey, I’m grinded out to T9 already in everything, so no skin off my bones.”
You do realize that if this game has such a steep grinding curve, no new player interest will be generated, and sooner than later, Star Conflict will be shut down due to inactivity aside from a few die-hard fans, right? But no skin off your bones, you can always play in those imaginative servers in your head! Problem solved!
Any business model that Gaijin decides for Star Conflict that is detrimental to new players is detrimental to ALL players. Period. If you cannot generate an new or renewed interest from people who’d be willing to pay for Galactic credits, then you’ve done f*cked up.
(Yes I know I actually do still check these fora)
anyway to all the p2win arguments: Nonsense. Before I stopped playing the game I mostly flew with mkI stuff and still usually ranked in the top 5 with my kill/death ratio well over 1 and my destroyed ship rating switching back and forth from 1000 to 1200. Now do note that I’m not exactly the best players (mostly because I just can’t get used to the wierd mechanics in the game). If I can do that with mk I against people with mk III and Purple, then so can you.
As for the change to loyalty system:
I am currently in the process of making sure to tell everyone I know not to play the game or buy anything off it till a reasonable time (2-3 months) after this blunder has passed and no such thing occurs again. Yes I am aware this is a beta. But if you offer timed licenses at ridiculous prices or offer equipment and ships for well over 20$/€ and then even have the audacity to increase the required grind time for a game to this sort of level (and practically making a license useless except for mon… oh wait don’t need that anymore either since you can’t buy blues anyway.) then you don’t deserve to be allowed a second chance without immediately fixing this and paying reparations for any time lost to players (tho apparently they do sometimes engage in license-time refunds when they are at fault).
So yeah for now and for the next 2-3 months this is my standing recommendation to anyone in my circle of acquaintances who thought about getting the game.
Quick note to the people who spend 100-200 bucks on this game: Why in heavens name did you ever do such a thing in the first place? With 200 bucks I can buy myself 10-25 games with a combined playtime of several MONTHS and way better gameplay mechanics then this. Hell I think the combined amount of what I have spent on games in my entire life up to now has been 400-500$ (maybe slightly more depending on currency value at the time). So yeah this is your own fault you know. Spending big time on MMO’s is never a good idea unless you are absolutely certain the game is stable which definitely does not apply to games in beta.

Well I’m sure that was directed toward me.
As a quick look into the business model. this game is free to play, free to download, there only revenue being Galactic Standards. Under the effects of the old system you could easily reach T4 in full blues of at least one faction by only investing into pilots licences. Don’t get me wrong if they charged for this game and came out with a subscription service I’d be singing a different tune for sure. But seeing as its not and bills need to get paid, its understandable for them to turn up the heat on the pay to win system.

I like for my games to at least be in full release before they jew the everloving xxxx out of me thanks.

Killing the game is making sure to pay the bills?
Are you going to pay monthly subscription if it costs 200$? Are you going to buy 1 month license if it is going to cost 100$? According to your post those would be perfectly reasonable things to do and also would make sure that the game will die.
Until now i didn’t play, so i was only criticiszing your complaints theoretically.
But since i opened the game. Something you obviously didn’t.
Here, have a screenshot.
If you want i can do the maths for you… Solution : With the 4 level 1 contracts in Armada, you get directly to level 2. Wow, what a grind…
And for those that are gonna say that you need 190 000 to go from level 11 to 12, i’ll just say there are level 10 contracts worth 12 000 loyalty.
Again i can do the maths if you can’t.
So even with the huge cooldown on some contracts, it’s still really fast to grind up.
(And to those who are gonna say i don’t care because i already grinded everything : i just spent 260000 credits in order to be able to make those observations.)
Here’s an idea:
License: you get loyalty from matches.
No License: you get reduced loyalty from matches.
Can be almost trivially implemented by lowering the base amount of loyalty gained per match, and upping the percentage bonus on the license.
I actually want the devs to post their rationale on this change. It kinda feels like they are doing it just to troll the player base.

Eh, In one-two weeks of playing I managed to rank 5, 7 and 7 on one contractor of each faction, and with my current available contracts I would have to play around two more weeks at my current pace just to get on level 8 on just my current contractor.
This MAY be a problem that is just exactly on these contract levels, the dreaded middle thing, nevertheless it’s a gigantic fun-sapper.
All contracts that give at higher ranks 5k+ are once per day, and when you need 100k+ rep it will take to long 2 weeks ago game had 4-5k active ppl, last few days 1-2k, after this patch i can say it will drop even more
