Likebutton

Hi

why is StarConflict now Facebook.

This game is not meant to show the popularity of a single player.

For what reason was the like-button being introduced?

I personally hate it

gekaler

I believe it is to be some sort of recuitment resource apart from the normal SR, Battles, W/L Ratio etc…

And also, bragging Rights. HEHHEHEH

Like in other battle arena games, you can now commend people

if the same player can use it on another player over and over in multiple battles then that mode is totally screwed.

Personally, I don’t think this feature is so bad… It is a good idea. If I play with someone who is really good and impresses me, especially on the ennemy side, then I will honour that talent with a “like”. I don’t spend my “like” after every battle. I only give them, if someone was really good.

But I agree also that this feature could easily be abused in the way that friends and squad mates always “like” themselves after a battle. So a few slight changes in the mechanic preventing the following might come in handy:

  • No “likes” towards people in your corporation
  • No “likes” towards people in your friendlist
  • No “likes” towards people in your squad

This way, the system would perhaps work better. Of course, everyone could simply remove their friends to like them after a battle. But do we really want to do that??

I don’t.

Yeah, that would be a great idea. I have already suggested in the discussion topic.

So far the reputation system looks like a good idea.

I LIKE PER PLAYER then its okay.

I can only foresee more MM screw-ups being implemented later because of it.

Yeah Funky Donut is right… this voting system can be useful, but devs need to set specific rules for it

+1.  Good idea.  Just limit it to people you’ve never flown with before.  For instance, if you fly with a pilot who isn’t in your corp, friends list, or squad, they should only be able to vote for you once, and vice versa.  Not vote 2 rounds in a row.  This would keep the number of upvotes unique between pilots.

that is hardly useful as a rule to be honest. i could hardly like anyone after a while.

i personally don’t care about rules here, as long as this data stays strictly decorative.

Yeah, if the playerbase were larger, this could work.  You’re right, though, right now it’s not very feasible.

I wonder what will happen when the mass comunity reaches star conflict, it will become facebook conflict.

Even better!!

Actually I think the “like-button” is fine as it is.

I dont farm those likes, and I dont give them out for free (in fact half of the games I just dont use it, because i felt that no one deserved it).

But if someone if performing extremly well (like Djoylok yesterday), he deserved it big times, even that he was in my squad and in my corp.

Zap, it is true - i Don’t spam the “likes” either. But not everyone thinks that way. And unfortunately many people simply spam it for their own corp/squad mates. Regardless of the outcome of the match or the effort.

So, yes - it is a nice gimmick, but it doesn’t have any validity or significance on the capability of the pilot at all.

Like the “Skill-Rating” thats true. So it stays an other, in last instance, meaningless gimmick.

Yet, for me (personally) its a nice tool to honor the outstanding.

Stick around in the score screen and you’ll see it’s normally squads upvoting themselves.  There are other upvotes, but it’s already abused.

I usually up-vote people on the other team, especially those who kill me multiple times in a match.
