Guard Module

If only ECM couldn’t disable guard crap any more. That would throw everything right back in to balance.

100% with you, so long as you mean while they are active.  ECM should be able to shut guards off if the guards don’t have their modules on, but not shut their modules off once activated.  Same for any other class.  There is no counter to inty balls atm.

And here we see how Inty-ball dominating the game to the point of no return

That doesn’t count, look at the players…

Look at the score, if tiny balls so uncounterable, they would’ve gotten at least a kill?

As mill said look at the players (some of the best in the game).  That was a combat recon, and their captain was an insanely high dps gunship.  You guys brought recons and a cov ops maybe.  Cov ops+ecm+recon would have done better.

I’m guessing all the SCORP recons (including captain) warped over to try to lol kill the ESB captain.

Ignorance is a bliss

Ignorance is a bliss

This is a team based game.  Individually, recons, and CO are not OP, they are balanced and do what they are supposed to.  ECM, on the other hand, are OP.  They shut off guard’s modules for however long the recharge is which prevents it from doing anything but absorbing damage (can’t even repair itself.  Interceptors, being very small and agile and hard to hit, in the hands of an adequate pilot, become extremely hard to deal with if you are relying on a guard ship to counter them.  The guard ships fail at its job completely as it can’t do what it is intended to so long as there is an ECM in the interceptor ball.  Not only do guards suffer, but so do tacklers which are the other ship meant to help stop interceptors.

Well going up against ECM’s is almost like dancing the waltz, you just count the steps 1,2,3,4. 1,2,3,4., step 1.- see ECM coming at you hit pulsar to force him to disable you for 2 seconds. step 2.- ECM most likely will hit module to drain you capacitor. step 3 you start shooting your HB’s to force him to evade the incoming fire and ECM start’s the typical maneuver of flying in circles around you. step 4 in range fire blue torpedo…and if for some reason he survives the blast GUESS WHAT! the purple pulsar is back online

> facetorp Guard

Dude, are you, like, every rookie Guard pilot ever?

Agree with Ory.  Fern, if you play guard correctly, you shouldn’t be getting pwned by…anyone, really…  Your revised “step” list is:  Step 1: Ping the xxxx out of the ECM so your team focuses it.  Step 2:  Move to the middle of your fleet as fast as you can.  Step 3:  Let your teammates kill him.

Guard is meant for crowd control; you can get interceptors off of you pretty easily, but killing them is another story.  Use your teammate for this, and, similar how ECM prevents YOU from using your modules, get HIM to activate his and then take him out when he realizes he’s getting destroyed by your team!  Then pew pew.

Guard is meant for crowd control

It’s well known that Guards have:

  • the Gravi-Pulsar (dealing damage and slowing the ennemy at the same time)
  • The Mass Control Inhibitor (Stunning all the ennemy ships in a 3200m radius)
  • Liquid Spy Drone injector ( Unleashing a huge waves of spy drones, corrupting all the ennemy ships and showing their positions)
  • The Emergency Multi Drinker (Drain the Shield of all the ships in a 2000m radius and regen yours for 100% of the drained amount, if the ennemis do not have shield anymore, drain and restore the energy instead)
  • The Anti-Modules Shield (Everytime that an ennemy in range of this module activate one of his module, a green beam hit the ennemy ship and shutdown all the modules for 1.5 seconds).
  • Signature Moving (Hack the AIM Computer of all the ennemy ship in range and disturb the positionning of the prediction markers and the missile’s guiding system)

I genuinely laughed out loud… xD

I hate ECM, no way should be able to shut of my modules once activated… Whats shuts off an ECM’s modules ? nothing except death… PS: I LOVE my Guard.

The only thing that shuts off ECM modules is a combat reboot on a gunship or the j8 implant, which disable energy draining abilities (so only the energy absorber). Otherwise there is no way to stop ECM abilities. Either there needs to be more ways to prevent ECM modules or stop them like ECM modules do to other ships, or ECM abilities should not be able to stop modules that are already active.

This is not to say that I hate ECMs, I love playing ECM, but I do find it OP to be able to stop modules that are already active.

R14, Mjolnirs overdrive

R14 on a guard means you are dead already

R14 on a guard means you are dead already

no, far from it

Guards primary form of tanking is shield.  Once that shield is down you are generally toast.  Except maybe using stacked adaptive.

And besides that, if there is an inty ball killing all your teammates, you turn your pulsar on, then get ECMed and can’t do anything to help stop them.

You getting ecmed means that your teammates arent…

So in a sense, you are guarding your teammates from disables.

That is so deep. You are a very wise person BoS.
