Afer playng alot this horrible patch i came out with this idea wich could possibly solve all the balancing issues we r experiencing! It’s very simple and consisting in adding 2 turrets to each ship class Consequentely hull+shield should follow the same increment as the damage sustained by the single ships except on frigates.
Here it is:
Interceptors (most useless ships atm):
Turrets should go from 2 to 4 and in the same way hull and shield should be doubled…In this way damage sustained will increase by 100% and survivability by 100% too
Fighters:
Turrets from 4 to 6. Damage sustained will increase by 50% and in the same way Hull+ shield should be increased by 50%
Frigates:
Turrets passing form 6 to 8 on LR and engineering. In this case damage sustained will be increased only by 33 % (They won’t be OP coz survivability on int is +100% and on fighters +50%).
On guard frigs turrets should pass form 4 to 6 (like on fightetrs obviously) with 50% bonus on damage sustained. In this way the loss of 2 turrets in comparison of engi frig is less significant (6 vs 8).
In this case no bonus on hull or shield for frigs. Maybe a little minus (10-20%) on engi frigs, or on their regeneration bonuses.
Being a old player i’m pretty sure that in this way the game would be perfectly balanced and will bring a lot of fun playng, with ints finally effective again

This is far to broad of a stroke to be effective because the ships vary so greatly from tier to tier. In tier 1 and 2 this would make engi and LR frigs glass cannons that have no manuverability. They would melt under the new firepower. In tier 3 the command ship would become the new Frig with insane survivability.
Also im not sure where you get this Inti’s being the most useless ships in game. The ECM needs a little love outside of that Inti’s are very viable in any game mode.

The turret issue could be solved by just adding damage bonuses instead.
This might be an ok care package for T3, but inties are ok in T1 and T2, this would make them dominate. I agree with WarAddict that it’s a bit too broad and simple. You need to consider ships by role and tier, it’s not really realistic to apply the same changes to T1 LRFs and T3 engineers and expect it to magically result in balance.
Do you know how unbalacned it would be for INTERCEPTORS to have 2 more turrets?!
I play only interceptors, but with the orion targeting complex to do DOUBLE damage is like having a fast frigate killing you with the amount of damage I could output…
I have not used inties for awhile, but if i remember, they had +30% crit chance. They would do way more dps than any other ship except gunship with 6 turrets * 1,5% atack speed + crit module.
Whatever this is, its definitely NOT “Great idea to restore balance”
I’m a t4 palyer but form t3 on u need dps to stand in fornt of a frigate on YOUR OWN! Not to mention about the huge survivability frigs got…Consideration about easy t2 fights should be removed form this thread…Real game start form t3 with lot of mods and survivability
Lot of bla bla about crit chance and other stuff about big damage on inty…all things easily changeble and above all don’t forget i already put hull/shiled bonus in the count (not on the already op frigs obviously)!!!
When the game was in 0.5 or 0.6 none of you were here but the gameplay and fights were much more balanced and enjoyble THAN NOW…just look for videos on the web!
At that time, starting each battle i was really unsure on the ship to choose. At that time if you were a skilled pilot you could fight vs a frig on your own… even on an inty…If you could not do this anymore…simply the game is not balanced and everyone will pick up a frig and result is Frigate conflict! (i know the team play and bla bla…but why the hell should a team pick up 4-5 inties to do the job a single frig can do in t3 or t4…? Obviously evryone will go for the frig/command/gunship safe choice).
Obviuosly you could erase 0.8 patch but if you want to save this new system i think that the very simple changes i posted could easily slve this issue in t3 and t4…Maybe could be a good idea to add the 2 extra turrets from the t3 on…And to be honest all the ships i got look to already have the place for the 2 extra turrets…Maybe devs already thought about somethig like this

There are alot of T2 players here because thats the main player base. So actually the real game is in T2 atm this will change in time im sure but for now its the way it is.

For me its not a comfort zone issue. T2 has the best game play imo. I enjoy the fast pace of T2, dogfights and the balance. The survivablity in t3 and up makes the game a stale. Its a number of players hiding behind objects poping out to fire a few shots and waiting for someone to mess up. But hey opinions are like Arse-holes everyone has one and they all stink

Why we play in T2 is irrelevant, you must see that any balance package has to work at all tiers. Screwing over lower tiers to fix higher tier gameplay just moves the problems around rather than fixing them. Unfortunately I don’t think you could apply this change just to T3-4 because then a T2 player newly entering T3 would get utterly wtfpwned.
As the person above me said, all tiers need to be balanced. If someone never wants to leave Tier 1, they should be able to stay at Tier 1 and enjoy balanced matches. If someone wants to rush to Tier 4, they should be able to play balanced matches when they get there, and every step of the way there as well.
they had it good BEFORE all this xxxx storm rolled in before the “class Distinction” which IMO kinda ruined the game as everyone outfitted the ship the way they wanted…hell they should of switched which kind of special you wanted too, thus making it truly customizable.
