Frigates should have either damage buff since only forward arc firing or be given 360 firing arc.

I honestly feel really sorry for you frigates because of how easy it is to get on your butt and stick to it like nothing while you helplessly watch your shield and then hell hp go to zero. If they give you only forward arc then they should increase your damage output as once anything gets behind you then you’re basically dead. Better yet give the frigates a 360 firing arc so that they can actually be useful in supportive fire just in case the combat does get to close so that you can continue to help out your team and continue to be useful.

Position your frigate well and make sure you got teammates. LRF is basically the only one that can solo fight with or without it’s special.

I’d actually like the 360 degrees, but it’d mean more work on the devs. (animations/turret style)

there is no need for a damage buff; LRFs are hard enough to survive head on.

Then again, it’d be interesting to see all of the frigates having 6 guns again while the LRFs gain something interesting on the side.

(damage-wise)

This is normal, no change required, frigates are way not underpowered.

One Frigate = Usually Weak

Frigate in a good team = Useful & Strong

Frigball = Overpowered & almost unstoppable in some gamemodes.

If you’re enough players you guys can already shoot in any direction! ^^

“Frigates are support ships, they are not aimed at dealing damage or fighting alone”. Just remember this when you play.

There’s already a 360degree-damage-dealing module on Guard ships, and I guess most pilots already have it installed on their guards. It can sometimes turn the table for a well cooperated team.

Guards never, ever leave home without it.

Unless they’re T1.

hell no

there is free aim, which allows this but with reduced damage when firing behind the ship

Frigates are all about team play and placement. Don’t be a solo Hero and keep your butt close to a wall or obstacle if possible.

Something small can’t circle you anymore in that case. If they fly underneath you and come really close,(because you don’t have any guns there) launch your cruise missile (in tier 1 and low rank tier 2). The missiles always spawn underneath the ship and the interceptor will go poof or at least be scared off. Yes, you’ll take the hit as well from your own missile, but better than dying without doing anything.

In t3 and above, em torp to the face in free aim mode is always nice. Of course, you’ll have to facetank your own torp as well in this scenario.

Don’t be a solo Hero and Let this to Rakza

Fixed.

if you’re already fixing posts, you should fix them with correct grammar :004j:

But yeah, in some situations it can be beneficial to go solo Hero. Yes, if you have a Rakza on your Team, let him do the solo heroing in Guards.  :006j:

Maybe he is good in a guard…

But it’s a fact that a guard alone can do a sh*t against a whole team or more than 2 ships… Except they are random pub players.

If you skill majorly exceed those that you face, you can take on them alone in any ship role, if not, not a single role can effectively do 1v2+

Well, veterans can usually shoot down 2-3 random pub players at the same time, and most of the players are from a random pub…

‘Random pub player’… I like this.

But while you fly in a circle with your guard you can get killed 2 times, this is weird, like guards are…

If you care about your life, guard is one of the last choices. If you want to kill everything, play active & don’t die a lot, i would choose Covert Ops, some Recons, Gunships or Tackler.

Let’s not underestimate the combined firepower of four engie drones as well.

I think it’s fine as it is now. Free aim is still in effect, so use that, if you’re in trouble, or maybe supercooled charges to prevent the weapon to overheat too quickly. Also, damage will be scaled, depending on the angle of the shot.

^This.

CDNGhost don’t feel sorry for me. It wont make me any less likely to shoot you :00222:

I actually think they should be a 1 or 2 REAR turrets…

As rear turrets they automatiacally fail to get LoS on anything in forwards arc, therefore wont improve the ships dps…

But anything that does get into the ships normal blind spot will still have to fight 2 turrets, ie they only explosed to half (or quarter) the normal firepower, but the frig is not totally defenceless

It would still be hard to hit a moving inty tho

With the free aim toggle, you can actually fire behind you, but with reduced damage.

Also, I think you still haven’t faced an EM torpedo. They hurt a lot. (yeah, since EM torpedoes are unguided, you can fire them at any direction, even behind you)

If the blindspot exists, it’s for something.

The problem is not coming of the frigates themself. Back in the day, a “well positionned” frigates had 0 problem with ennemy’s ships in the blindspot. Of course, if you were isolated, you were going full boom pretty easily.

Now even correctly positionned, you can be blowed up extremly quickly while in the other hand some ships can make insane mistake and survive

There are tons of  facts that are leading frigates players to complain.

This kind of problems are not new.
