No proof, or statistic showing this whatsoever, just a random claim far from the truth…
Realistically, one gets about 30k dps with orion on an average build.
It could be possible turn the gun into a phaser of sorts: single click for a single shot, charge for a quick five round burst or something like that.

30k per sec = 15k in 0.5
15k = 50k
Somehow this doesn’t work out as they said…
Since it is no use battling over Assumptions, let’s set this straight and do the math (your guess was pretty good thoug, [@Scar6](< base_url >/index.php?/profile/34841-scar6/)
Spoiler

This is basically what you are getting with red ammo and a Crit build…
Count double damage for going fast and double damage with orion and you get, (depending on how they stack) 15-20k dps… Without counting crits or resistances…
with crit however we get about 30-39k DPS…
adding resistances (a healthy unmodified hull standard resistance to EM being 65pts - almost 40%) we end up with 18-23k damage taken per second.
18-23k damage taken per second: This is the (Expected) maximal damage you are about to recieve in a second.
(Since we are talking Stochastic here, there is a chance for it being higher, because you’d get more crit procs than you should be getting, but that isn’t all too likely)
[Disclaimer: i know that GE has a second cap slot, unlike my Falcon-M, but that adds up to 2-3k damage, and i am being generous with tht calculation.]
(100k/sec… get outta here!)
In SC projectiles travel at the speed relative to the map, not your ship; if you fly fast enough you can stack projectiles for high initial impacts.
Consider that when you begin firing from 2220m and turn away at 300m, the first projectile does not reach your target after 1.33 0.705 seconds later. You have a total of 3.62 seconds for your entire attack run.
If you fly at 530 m/s with 3150 m/s projectile speed with a rate of fire of 9.5 shots/second, your projectiles will be
(1/9.5) * (3150-530) = 276 meters apart, and therefore the actual number of projectiles target receives is 1/(276/3150) = 11.42 shots/second
Since projectile speed is the same, flying forwards alone provides you a temporary DPS increase of 19.9% within your attack run as long as you don’t stop. Since you shoot front blaster while at flying fast, this weapon disproportionately benefits from the fact projectile speed is relative to the map instead of your ship.
Since you do about 34590 dps with crits calculated, each shot does 3476 damage.
In order to do 50000 damage with adjusted fire rate of 11.42 shots/second is: 50000/3476/11.42=1.259 seconds.
Okay I admit 50k cannot be done in 0.5 seconds.

If your projectile speed is 3150m/s and you shoot it from 2220m to the target, in order to meet 1.33 s travel time, your target must be moving really fast and directly away from you.

Corrected.
what is correct? the assumption that the target moving away from you or the fact that it takes less than 1.33 seconds to hit it when it is stationary?
