Also learn what is interceptor then talk about them. Interceptor is meant to intercept a target or destroy hostile interceptors/Fighters/Bombers but hey there is no bombers
I even saw lone interceptor kiling a destroyer and people says Destroyers are overpowered.
No need to create a ship that is capable of hit and run. There is already something like that and that’s Tackler, it is fast and it can also cloak

Tacklers are not meant for hit and run. Yes, built properly, they can be hit and run, but Tacklers in their original sense are designed to debuff your oh-so-OP interceptors and make them easy kills. It’s almost like that’s in their name or something - to like, I dunno, TACKLE targets and make them easy prey…

Mate, I’ve done numerous tests and it simply isn’t so. ECM’s simply can’t kill a properly built and played destroyer at all, recons can’t kill a properly built and played destroyer in less than 4 minutes - and that’s only thanks to shield drain*, CovOps can’t kill a properly built and played destroyer in less than 4-5 minutes unless they have Plasma Arc, which honestly is EASILY counterable by aimbot turrets that deal massive amount of damage on inties (specifically 1.8k per single aimbot hit, on a ~6k total HP Kite) once they slow down and lose adaptive shields which they must do in order to get a proper hit with Plasma Arc.
And even if they manage to get that hit in, destroyers’ modules recharge twice as fast as Plasma Arc, and you can’t drop the remaining 85% of their shields in 20 seconds.
*But I haven’t tried mines vs destros yet, not sure if they could prove more efficient than piercing missiles once the shields are down.
The only reason I see why any of you would defend destroyers being balanced is that you’ve never tried your luck against a good pilot in a destroyer, who knows where to put every turret, every module, who doesn’t just sit there like an idiot watching bricks fall down on his forehead.
They really need to balance destroyers before they introduce any more. T3 PvP is horrible if you’re flying anything but a destroyer and there are 4 or more destroyers on the enemy team. This is a game breaker for me, I’ve spent some time in T3 to try and find a good counter, but thanks to the lack of team work it is nigh on impossible. Yeah inties can wreck them 1v1 if they don’t have the auto-aim turrets on, but the majority of the time they have support anyway, so it is futile.
The game is not fun if you are constantly hiding in cover waiting for the odd opportunity for a none destroyer ship to get in your killzone, or pounce on a nearly downed destroyer.
If they limit the amount per team then they could work, and get rid of the auto-aim turrets, they have no place in this game.
T5 Destroyers are going to be a nightmare unless something changes, and if it doesn’t then this will probably be the end of the game for me.

Here’s a question. Is there any matchup against destroyers?
Frigates melt under pyro emitter and tempest launcher already, so they’re not really in question here. LRFs get out-DPS’d and out-tanked by them, guards have less tank and less area control, both have significantly less utility. Only engineers have a one-up on them, and that’s their ability to heal their team. Frigates can certainly do damage with coils or eclipse, but they can’t do anything else but cower behind cover and hope they don’t get killed by the destroyers on the other side – or their teammates.
Fighters have severe difficulty surviving turret and weapons fire, but they can do significant damage to destroyers if they know how. Unfortunately, even with singularities, the best one can do in a reasonable time frame (like, 10 seconds, which is pretty dang long) is deal a lot of damage and take out some modules. There’s no way to kill one in a single burst, and with a supporting team, any fighter trying to dive is going to highly regret it.
Interceptors die quickly against turrets, but have little difficulty avoiding other methods of damage. Covert ops can plasma arc a destroyer (assuming the pilot has good enough ping…) under their shields to instantly take out a lot of modules and deal plenty of damage, and can deal even more damage using Orion. Unfortunately, as quite a few pilots can testify, that’s not enough to kill a destroyer, and especially not an Invincible. Not with a team to back them up, and 75% of their hull remaining. Against a nearly stationary interceptor. ECMs can try to stun a vulnerable destroyer and get rid of any stray wormholes they might have been hoping for, but they can’t kill a destroyer that wasn’t going to die anyways. Recons can use spy drones on Archons to impede their tanking ability greatly, but they don’t have enough DPS to take them down in a reasonable time frame.
So, no. There is no real matchup against destroyers. Stop complaining about them being underpowered – they’re not. They’re overpowered as heck, and if you can’t tell that by simply visiting T3 and trying to break a destroyerball using your oh-so-OP covert ops, then you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.
Side note: Yes, covert ops is stronger than it needs to be. No, that doesn’t mean they need a nerf right now. Since destroyers are dominating the meta, they’re the bigger issue right now.
I never killed a covops with autoaim turrets (im using Archon). Sure they drop inty’s shield but not hull, im talking about those ones knows how to use an inty. They are not oh-so-OP. The problem is not 1 destroyer being OP. Its destroyerballs being OP. Distribute them equally between teams and your problem gone

I do agree other classes have nothing to do against destroyers, but I know very well that interceptors can rek any destroyer if they don’t have backup. Plasma arc on the back from the engines will destroy ALL of your modules, after that they just circle you to death or hide until it recharges and they attack you again.
I mean since when it’s supposed the smallest thing can take out the hugest thing on its own?

Meh I never watched that Star Wars thingy. But I really don’t see how a single ceptor should be able to take out a single destroyer. At least few ceptors not 1 v 1.

Beside that: Battleships got wrecked by torpedos. Torpedos from submarines.(okay some of the battleships have anti-torpedo walls, but mostly not)
And a battleship is way bigger as a submarine…
Out of this: Destroyers THEMSELF aren’t a problem.
I encountered this many times in tournaments and in normal PvP. I fly a destroyer and fly against others.
Q.Q destroyerballs are wrecking me!!! What is with guardsballs? If 5+ of them + backup with engis come against you, you think you had a chance?

If it comes down to QUANTITY, it’s not a quality issue.
From my point: Remove destroyer from PvP as you had no data how they will perform/team balanced to have one. Only for captain battles they should be allowed(and only 1 per team). This would make it interesting and avoid useless ships as captains.

Umm no. They could simply be limited in one way or another in PvP, and not completely removed. For example your team is losing, with some kind of limitations and whatever, you can use your destroyer to change the result. I mean like only one destroyer can be used per team, or more depending on players in each team.
Before I suggested that they can be used like how planes are used in War Thunder Ground Forces Arcade Battles. Each tank you destroy, you gain a point which allows you to use a plane, up to 3 points, which allows you to use a bomber. Using a bomber or any other plane will reduce your points depending on how many it needs. Bomber needs 3 = you lose the 3 points once you use it. And you only use them for a minute I think.

You left the area of support of your team and paid for it. And it took 2 inties, multiple runs to take you down…
Any ship would get wrecked vs 2 inties if you have no back-up. At least a dessie has the luxury to survive long enough to try to escape or get closer to support.

This is a game. Games work via balance, not realism. It might feel really nice to have a ship that’s literally better than every single other ship in the game, but would it be fun for you? Would it be fun for anybody else?
