They really aren’t op. A bubble gunship can easily get under their shield and melt them. Also focus fire is really effective.

I know they aren’t, this is just a joke. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yea once you get surounded your f****d-up and the plasma arc one shoot all your module so they aren’t that op (just in pve) :P

Interceptors are more overpowered than destroyers, nerf em.

Yup, Destroyers are really good in PvE.

YES!

YES!

all is said ^^

If anything, the CovOps plasma knife is the deadliest thing against destroyers. It will wipe out all of their systems and leave them helpless until they regen.

How much time does it take to regen?

Destroyed modules will come back after a minute

Hmm thank you for the info!

So what you’re saying is, to kill a destroyer, you need either a specific anti-destroyer build (that can be shot down by any of the 3 to 11 people protecting the destroyer) or several pilots attacking one player that can possibly outtank them anyway (while the destroyer’s teammates shoot them all down). And you expect that from random people in skirmish.

Yeah, nothing’s op here. Carry on.

@maxwell7 2 dest alone remember ? x)

I’ve been in several matches where the destroyers just go an a 1v1 broadsides match with eachother and nobody bothers to interject. Usually if someone tries to help out, they get shot down quickly, so dest 1v1’s are where you’ll see a bunch of them.

It is a “Suppression” class, meant to keep enemies behind cover and suppress ease of movement across the map. Once a dest fires upon another dest, you usually get a dest 1v1 suppression battle.

Ah you’re that guy lol, I just noticed your name xD

Nah. Just be sure engi is out of destro reach then flank their shields and from distance rape the left mouse button till enemy turn into fireworks. Implementing this class was unecessery, but at least teach randoms importance of focusing fire on single target.

I can’t agree with this even with a 1% of agreement.

Erm. You disagree and then you go on to say that you need at least two people to kill an unsupported destroyer (both flanking and focusing fire require at least two people)…

uhm

  • it’s the single best tank in the game;

  • second best dps in the game (though with better range);

  • doesn’t need cover, as it can create cover for itself (destro shield>>>engi shield), therefore it doesn’t even need strafe, plus it can keep on attacking targets while blocking all of incoming damage for extended periods - PLUS, the r8 destro shield has more hit points than some frigs, and you can have up to 3 of them at once;

  • doesn’t need speed (and yet you can still build it to fly at over 200 m/s, and that’s in T3 only), as it can simply warp;

  • has auto-aim turrets that hinder circling around it in order to minimise the damage its main weapons inflict;

  • has a 360 degrees field of gun control, at NO malus to damage output (unprecedented, and combined with all of the above - plainly stupid);

  • in a 1v1 scenario (which doesn’t even happen that often), can be countered only by another destroyer or explosives (unprecedented either, so far you were able to kill anything with any weapon as long as you were persistent enough).

Even if there was a new ship class that would kill destroyers with one press of a button from 30 kilometers away, they’d still be OP, as they’d require the opposite team to have at least one anti-destroyer in their line-up. And you can’t expect that from random people in skirmish, period.

Have you even played as one yet? Please.

Their shields may have 30k HP but it has 0 resist to anything. They can be bypassed easily with any explosive and piercing weapon, their turrets 1) don’t deal that much damage, and 2) can be deatroyed. Their teleports can be blocked with ECM’s or by watching for and ramming in to the wormhole as it flies. They are slow as hell, and the survivability of them genuinely depends on the way that the person crafted them. They are easily taken out by a single CovOps if they don’t get support and one knife can completely disable them, aside from their main turrets. Also, they have the same aiming problems as any other ship, they just have much higher DPS. They work on broadsides, so they deal more damage that way, but otherwise, front and back is severely weakened comparatively.
