Destroyers are "destroying" pvp game-play.

It’s settled then, let’s move to T2 and eliminate the threat (any newbs who want to go to T3 and build destroyers) before it becomes dangerous. That sounds like a plan and prolly the last option once all tiers cept low tiers have destroyers.

I can’t believe how awesome this statement is, especially from who said it.  T2 bashing commences for me tonight. . . you know just to be safe.

Kids be looking for excuses to stomp t2 and not feel bad about it…

It’s not really an ‘excuse’ to stomp T2 but a really good reason.

Seems the old T2 bashers don’t do their job good anymore.

Somebody’s got to do it.

i wont play pvp again till day fix that destro ball…

It’s not really about Destroyers… It’s about the MM, game mode, when you join in, but also who is piloting these Destros vs who. But in any way, yes they can really screw up the game balance dynamic, but so can any class or any weapon that is currently OP, which constantly changes and comes and goes in waves.

I would really like to know at what point in time their captain died in that match.  The way I see this game playing out is you beat the captain within the first 3-4 min.  The remaining time was your entire team trying to apply enough dps to kill all the destroyers massive tanks.  And you ran out of time as there were 4 players left alive.  Also who was their captain ?>

Can’t remember. Battle time was 7min. All I remember was I didnt have an engi for the first 2min, the enemy team all pushed close to our spawn, but died. I guess their destroyer numbers made them overconfident. Still, it doesnt matter, it is all about MM balance, and game mode, and how people act.

Destroyers are not destroying game-play people just can’t adapt…

Destroyers are not destroying game-play people just can’t adapt…

I think your about to be bashed by everyone who still plays this game.  Cannot adapt.  That’s like saying the Indians in the Nez perce war lost to gatling guns (gunpowder), because they couldn’t adapt.   More tank, more dps, more speed (depending on build), perfect escape module, 20K damage pyro and almost free aim.  Please debate me:

I think capture the beacon and beacon hunt game modes are arguable, as tactics an playstyle can win games against destroyer balls even over the insane area denial that destroyers can do.

But combat recon or team deathmatch.  The HP alone to take out 8 destroyers is the 7 min cap.  I challenge anyone to find a team deathmatch game where 8 destroyers on one side lost to non destroyers on the other.   I have gone up against well built destroyers in my cov-ops.  Used everyone of my missiles on them, plasma ark, overcharge my weapons and overheated my weapons twice they still didn t die.

Destroyerballs are a joke. As is the entirety of T3 gameplay. Sure, I can take on 1 or 2 dessies in my Kite, but the vast majority of T3 games I have played have been decided by the amount of destroyers one team has. The more one team has, the higher the chances of winning.

IMHO, I think there needs to be a hard limit on how many dessies can be fielded by 1 team, i.e. if there are 2 on one side, the selection for dessies by respawning pilots is disabled.

There also needs to be a higher penalty for dying as a dessie pilot, like counting as 2 deaths in TDM or a significantly increased respawn timer.

And don’t even get me started on destroyerballs in dread battles…

Also, inb4 incoming wave of bashers.

Not sure if they are totally destroying pvp, certainly a drastic change to game dynamic.

Good thing is it should foster better teamplay within a group of random people and it makes it more difficult for an individual to carry a entire match.

Bad thing is that it is not making better teams nor stopping anyone from making a carrying attempt.

It comes back down to objectives. Previously you had a captain, a team or 1-6 beacons to contend with as objectives. Now with the addition of destroyers a well built and flown one becomes an objective itself and random teams have never been great at dealing with objectives.

What iv seen in the last week in pvp is two camps forming where some try to come up with anti destroyer builds and others try to play as normal running the objectives. The anti destroyer guys have trouble with regular objectives/ship loadouts and the objective runners get cut to shreds by the destroyers or the rest of the enemy team that outnumbers them. Nobody wins everyone blames everyone else. As with any team if they worked together it would be a success but it is not possible in many random games, everyone has thier own plan how they are going to win.

Destroyerballs are the worse thing to happen to pvp since white damage weapons, cant take out one without another taking its place. Meanwhile nothing is getting accomplished. I fully support the single spawn approach with an increased cost to repair and the longer respawn timer. It would certainly make some think twice about destroyer in lineup for every game. Use it u might lose it. Would help some of these guys feel some of the frustration that can come from any ship in any game.

Flying one i can say its the only thing thats missing from them right now. I dont care if i get taken out, there is no sense of real loss. I know its taken a good amount of effort and my team has done a lot of other objectives/killing/distraction while a giant was being toppled.

What bothers me is that it requires a lot less skill to fly and not die in a destoyer then opposed to that same player flying a guard or any other ship for that matter. For some reason it doesnt feel fair to give every player a tank with massive attack and HP with lots of auto firing turrets. Somehow I feel this lowers the overall niveau of the player base and punishes the player not using a destroyer.
