Block too low tiers from PvP

The reason you feel this ways is that people can buy their way to T5.  THAT is the issue here. You should not be able to buy your way to T5 without a certain amount of playtime and experience in the game. T5 SHOULD be just as much end-game as seccon, specops, and upcoming dreadnaughts, but it isn’t. I suggested a while back that a restriction be put in place that people cannot buy premiums of higher tiers until they have a certain number of ships in their current tier unlocked and synergized. This way people can still buy premium ships before they even own standard ships of that tier, but they can’t progress to T5 in less than 100 battles.

SHOULD… maybe. But we both know it hasn’t been this way, it isn’t this way, and it will most likely never be this way. If you see how many high-tier premiums are sold during each discount ($$$ for the devs), and imagine the shitstorm of complaints they would get if they’d block “less experienced” players from tiers they purchased entry to, I think it is pretty clear that what you’d like to have will never happen. Also consider the perceived “unfairness” compared to vets who had that option - also some n3wbs want to have T5 for the R15 implant, the contracts, and the PvE cash - you don’t want to block them from that. For sure you’ll never see a restriction put in place by the devs preventing people to spend GS (just to “make the vets happy”).

The only question remaining is how to deal with the situation “as is”, and which proposals for remediation have an actual chance of getting implemented (i.e. wouldn’t negatively impact revenue stream due to high-tier premium/module sales).

Also, my understanding is that the issue is mostly about beacon capture mode. Some ideas that might address part of the issue, but would not impact revenue:

  • make beacon cap much more rare

  • remove beacon cap from T5 and keep it for SecCon

  • mandatory tutorial before being able to play T4/5

  • mandatory tutorial before being able to play beacon cap matches

  • restrictions on players who are put into beacon cap queues (i.e. not being put in beacon cap until your lineup matches the requirements)

  • experienced players unhappy with the situation “leave battle”/disco whenever T1-T3 ships appear in beacon cap, telling the guys why they do so (in a civilized manner), inviting the n3wbs to training/tutorial sessions.

  • beacon cap “light” in lower tiers

  • full beacon cap in lower tiers

Requesting changes that we both know will never be implemented just causes frustration with all stakeholders: the vets, the n3wbs, the devs. We’d have to find a compromise which addresses the most pressing part of the issue, but still lets all stakeholders have at least the most important part of what they consider their priorities: vets = no T1-T3 in T5 beacon cap & no T1-T2 in T4 beacon cap; n3wbs = access to T4/5; devs = $$$.

I’d guess that only such a proposal has any chance to ever be implemented. To go for “all or nothing” is to go for failure.

so much elitism here, what your saying is that if i dont have 4 T5 ships to be able to pvp ill need to farm other ship types that i dont like just to play with the ship i do like and just having the other ships in the shipward as a showcase?

You don’t have to FARM! You need to understand how to use them, make experience and THAN AND ONLY THAN come to t5.

I’m a dreamer… I know.

woah internet points!

GIVE ME MOAR!!!

Breaking news! sometimes even Tillo makes sense!

They should have a T6 and scale all the ships to T6 once they are level 15?

I am only level 7, but I like my past ship.

As for players joining low level PvP, perhaps they should reduce crew implants into that tier (not sure if this is already done)?  Just find it difficult to level, even the grouping is random.  Most of their ships are already maxed, so for me to level against a level 15 with full spec ships, it is more of a struggle.

I for one don’t understand how any devs in 2015 can create a game with unbalanced match-making for pvp. I was real hyped about this game when I first saw it and I was hearing things like “its a fair game where you can’t pay to win etc”. After only a few weeks I realise that Im already almost on the point of stopping because of MAJOR issues which I thought impossible for mmo’s in 2015.

Here are the 3 main ones out of a long list:

  1. Queue time longer then matches (completly ruins the game when you spend more time waiting then playing)

  2. Unbalanced matches with T1 vs T2 etc (how hard is it to make a single tier queue???)

  3. Not being able to chose pvp maps or mods (I didn’t think it was possible in 2015…)

Well I sure hope they do some SERIOUS changes or I doubt I will be playing this game for long, which is a pity as it COULD have alot of potential.

MIXED TIERS?! why… you should block t1 and t2 for players that have more than 500 won battles (unlocks title Battle Master) i know it is drastic metod but i think it will work more than mixed tiers…

SO WHAT´S THE PROBLEM??? :fed014:

MIXED TIERS?!

Since 1.2 it is not relevant to the current MM.

you should block t1 and t2 for players that have more than 500 won battles

I don’t think this is a good idea

And after a long time evaluation of current situation. You cannot take a ships that their spread is more than 3 ranks (good). But your squadmate can have ships of totally different ranks than yours. So. I’m happily playing T3 (sorry - R9 I think). In my team I see a squad - one person with one R7 and 2 R4s, second person with one R4 and 2 R1s (and 23 games total). What were they flying? Of course, R4 and R1! When I told them to take proper ships I got the “SUT UP!” message (original syntax). And they were in my next 5 battles. Easy to win if they were in the opposite team, easy to loose when on mine…

So is it possible to extend the Rank lock to the squadmate as well? Just simple message when attempting to launch such a composition will be sufficient (and ofcourse - disabling the launch).

I’ve seen this a lot. The rank restrictions need to apply to squadmates as well. The other issue I’ve seen a lot is that you can still queue with only one ship in your lineup. The rule for that should be as follows, if you have a R12 or higher in your lineup, you must have 4 ships of the appropriate rank range in your lineup. If you have no higher than a rank 11 in your lineup, you must have 3 ships of the appropriate rank range in your lineup. If you don’t meet those requirements, an error message should come up saying you don’t have enough ships of the appropriate ranks, and not allow you to queue.
