Announcement of patch 0.9.0!

Well, some of the things may not appeal to a hardcore gamers like you guys, but we are trying to make game for all of our players. And again - we’re gathering your suggestions and review them. So… if there’s something you think would be cool - try to post you suggestions.

Give all weapon to all ships. This the only suggestion i can give before testing.

About the rest, you know guys , till now the game was skill based … and thatìs why people like me was playing it.

This patch looks like “n00bs oriented” (missiles spam so u don’t need to be good in aim, standard ship types so u don’t have to find ur playstyle and assemble ur ships exetera exetera).

I think u have to make a choise, becouse it’s hard u can keep both kinds of players… Newbies Friendly (casual games… and kids) os Skill based (competitive players).

Basically u can make Quake or u can make CoD, Personally i will never play CoD.

well AlexD to be honest the game has quite a few n00bz out there. Maybe this patch is a good thing, to help them out. I remember when I first started playing, man I had to learn everything myself, this new content and quests and stuff makes it a walk in the park, I made a new account and saw for myself. The devs did a great job

Why do you make such a big deal of nukes? There will be One nuke in a clip. Just one. Yes, CD will reset after death. But should there be any signs of NWII we will take steps to solve the problem as soon as possible.

Because, to be blunt, nukes are xxxx annoying, badly conceived, lazily implemented weapons that do nothing to improve the gaming experience of anyone save the CovOps dropping them.

I’ve ranted about the ECM class being terrible due to there being no counter-play option, and the nuke is more or less the same - unless the CovOps is stupid enough to drop it on top of a Guard, there really isn’t much that can be done about it.

Case in point: what’s the counter-play to a missile?

  • Evade it - If you’re good and agile enough you can duck and weave around a missile. This takes a lot of skill (or dumb luck), but it’s doable.
  • Scrub it - flares will knock it out instantly. Cloak causes the missile to lose its lock.
  • Guard it - this is the whole point of missile shield.
  • Ditch it - find cover and hug it; the missile will crash.
  • Tank it - Commands and Gunships have modules that will let them all but ignore a missile hit.
  • Troll it - Microwarp Engine on the Recon lets you bolt to the other side of the map, meaning you can just run until it runs out of fuel.

what’s the counter-play to a nuke? Err… run away? Really? We have six ways to scrub a missile, and two/three at most to counter a nuke. Bad implementation.

Nukes are a T3 weapon - T3 is not the place for cheap, no-skill abilities. T1 and T2’s abilities are meant to cover that; everything T3 brings to the table should be about higher skill and complexity, not “lol I can blow up all your drones in one shot!”

welp, 9.0 is being applied right now…

Can’t wait to see the new things but at the same time fearing it…

i think they decided to scrap the weapon mod changes because of the blowback on this issue. that’s why it’s taking so long to get the servers back up… right? :stuck_out_tongue:

how to not get damaged by nukes:

missile shield(kills the nuke)

run away

Don’t think there is another. But altho the nuke is not a “high skill” weapon, are any of the guided missiles(and some unguided)? press button, and he does the rest.

Ok, so, as I promised:

  1. Ship tree: Changed. Now it is almost a straight avenue for roles. Want to be engie exclusively - no problem.

  2. Mods buyout - whites and blues for creds. Gold (shop price), greens, purples (scaling price) - GS.

  3. Weapons buyout - golds will be bought out by the shop price, greenes and purples (as well as whites and blues) will stay with you, but change their mechanics.

  4. Prices on ships - lowered. T5 would cost approximately like T4 now.

  5. Repair prices - lowered.

  6. Loyalty - remained almost the same.

  7. Nukes - related to the team as I promised and is under consideration. More on that: there won’t be 6 nukes in a magazine.

Thanks a ton for this! If it will be as good as I hope by reading this I look forward to playing and am very glad I bought the elite pack

The “skill” in missiles comes from the list of counters I just posted. Frankly, anyone who’s reached tier 2 should by now know that you don’t just press a button and wait for the “enemy ship destroyed” message to pop up. Most people who do that will discover that their missile has, in fact, corkscrewed into a piece of terrain.

Missiles are a weapon that requires timing to use. You have to pick your moment. The enemy has to be far enough away that the missile won’t fly wide, but not so far away that they can duck and cover. They have to be far enough away from terrain that it won’t pitch into the side of an asteroid. You have to be sure the missile won’t just get shot down by missile shield or flares (unless you’re deliberately trying to trigger the defensive system so your other missiles, or someone else’s missiles will hit the target). You also have to make sure you’re not wasting a missile on a target who’ll just shrug it off.

In that sense, firing a missile requires more skill than firing your guns - there’s no penalty for mashing the fire button when you’ve got an infinite-ammo weapon and no reload cost. Fire your missile early, or carelessly, and that’s a few hundred (or a few thousand) credits you just slammed into the side of a beacon for no reason.

I had something like 180 days of premium, I used like 2 weeks then gave up on the game, got bored with it… came back yesterday and liked some of the changes, have something like 53 days or so left and wanted to get stuck back into the game… and now over night with the looks of this patch I maybe just letting the other 53 days run out too lol

Remember, play the patch first, before leaving.

Some things might look awesome, but be badly implemented, and are *crap* after all

Some things might look bad, but awesomely implemented, are are great after all

and then there are things in the middle that are both great and crap.

and then there are things in the middle that are both great and crap.

Sir, a Great Crap is not in the middle. it is the crap that rises to the top

I think the only real reason I used plasma weaponry is because I could switch to kinetic damage so I had a chance of scratching their hull. So this damage-change removal is just not good for me personally.

Though we’re pretty much getting the same guns plus a few minus the heavies. A shame, cause I haven’t been able to use them yet…

it will make the game more team-based, players will have to think more about the roles they want to perform. ie: fighters should have EM to take out shields, frigs should have kinetic or thermals. obviously, nothing stops you from using something else, but that’s generally the best setup since fighters can speed tank while they drain enemy shields, then dip back out of the fight for repairs, allowing the frigates and missiles to mop up the hulls. command can keep you alive for a bit longer. that’s just my opinion on the matter though. plus fighters can get in closer to use those plasmas. and this setup guarantees a decent spread of damage types across your team.

btw, i also fly fighters, command to be exact. i dont have a problem scratching hulls, its like 50% dmg reduction at most we’re talking about. i can decimate other ocmmand vessels though ;o or shield tankers. gunship not really, as it will outdps your shield, unless you also carry a booster, but then youre useless to your team, so, nope.

Or everyone will just use Gauss Cannons… It’s just a renamed Stab Rail.

pretty much. i prefer the name gauss cannon. syndicate was an awesome game.

So I’ll still be facing down a literal sh*tstorm of stab pellets… Nothing different there, then.

Note well, my brothers and sisters; the simple sheep of Eurocorp have infiltrated the Star Conflict universe! The Church of the New Epoch shall illuminate them here as surely as we did in Syndicate Wars, which is clearly the superior title (those who believe otherwise should report to their nearest Confessor and repent their sins).

Remember, my brothers and sisters, our holy mission must be pursued unto the end of all things. Deliverance comes only to the faithful, and only those who are tested know true faith.

edit: Seriously, Beta, you really should try Syndicate Wars if you haven’t already - if you liked the original you will love the sequel! No prizes for guessing my favourite faction though!
