I mainly use interceptors. Even my fighter just feels slow. I put it back in my stock to have something other than three interceptors after I had to start dealing with realistic. No one wants RFP on an engineer in PvP. It works in PvE, but not PvP. The fighter’s tuned for tanking and sniping. It’s all I use it for, but it’s never a first choice. It’s just a tiny frigate. It has stab rails instead of anything truly long range. The actual long range stuff is only worth it for an assist.
I started out Jericho, and stuck with it. I think I’d rather have a Kite instead of Ricasso. Ricasso can live longer, but I like to get in and get out. My Ricasso tops out at 570, so I only win some races. In a boring combat recon, it’s fun to just fly in and hit someone, take some damage, and find that engineer asap to do it again.
It’s time to rise up, man up, get back up, never been and won’t be broken
Dust off and then come back for more
I feel like I’m more of the supportive type, always content to play second fiddle and trying to give a hand to the rest of the team. To that end, I would prefer to fly frigates.
When I do fly interceptors or non-command fighters, there’s usually something I want to get done… or someone I want dead really fast.
I play more fighters, but I love my Kite as well. My main at the moment is the Desert Eagle, at 27k survivability and purple heavy railguns I can dish and take as much punishment as some frigates.
Sure. Every ship class has some advantages and some disadvantages so every ship can be beaten by the others.
At lower tiers, sure. Later on though Interceptors scale very poorly against Frigates. The TTK (time to kill) goes up dramatically. And proliferation of one-hit kill weapons against your Inty can feel excessive at times.
My main ship is the Jericho’s Command Fighter. And I wouldn’t replace it for anything else! This is the only ship in the game that can survive longer than the others because of its Diffusion shield skill which makes it almost immportal. This skills has saved my butt many times.
I wish this skill were to last longer but that’s another topic to discuss.

Wait till yo get into T3+, Jericho Commands are paper thin comparing to Empire commands
Right now I have rank 7 (don’t know which tier that is) and soon I’ll get rank 8. With every higher rank I love that class more and more. I would marry it if I could.
He’s a PvE player, Jericho Commands are not paper in PvE
Yeah i’ve noticed, but no matter tank is tank, Empire has tank and it is better than Jericho, PvE mobs do crit, they do mostly thermal and EM dmg (except for Pirates with white dmg) , they still miss so Empire hull tank is still much more superior

Sword S isn’t too bad for having a good diffusion shield. Empire’s still better. At least he’s early enough in grinding to swap factions to Empire. That Styx->Garm change hurts, though.
Are you guys sure empire command ships are better than Jericho? From what I can tell, the main difference is the empire’s command ships are better at taking burst damage and coming out alive, and the jericho command ships are better at taking long, sustained damage and coming out on top. They seem pretty balanced to me, just different strong points.
Point for point, hull has more, and it has *slightly* higher resist values than the shield. Shield has the ability to regen itself. The sword starts with a base of 104 shield regen/second. That means in 15 seconds at just Synergy level one, you get over 1500 hit points back. And as a command ship, with diffusion shield, it’s easy to gain 15 seconds of time to regen your shield. So…yeah. Just my 2 cents.
In paper it sounds nice, now go T5 PvP or sector conquest and try to kill an Aura, then try to take 2-3 shots in a Sword and survive.
Jericho commands are good but with a different gameplay Imo, tanking is not the most important thing on a Jericho command, I like to put heatsinks and rails in them, or unit counduits and bubbles and be some sort of gunship thanks to valkyrie and the high speed.
Getting back to the OP: My main ship has been the Minotaur for awhile now. I was going to upgrade to the Naga but then realized that it’s a lot less tanky than the MInotaur an the Styx…so I then checked out the Federation engineer ships. They seemed a little better but not enough to make me want to play engineer at T5.
So now I’m experimenting with other ships. I started by playing a guard but either I need to get used to playing guards or they just aren’t as good. My MInotaur can go toe-to-toe with a guard ship and take it down. I’m now flipping back and forth between the Command ships and the Tacklers. The Jericho command ships are built pretty tanky, but they just can’t take burst damage like the minotaur/styx can. The tacklers are a completley different playstyle, so I’m just trying them out for variety.
No it’s not less tanky, it has less hull and shield slots, but it’s compensated with higher base stats, implants and modules. A Naga will last in battle much longer than a Minotaur, doesn’t matter if you get 80k surv on that thing. Also the Naga is way more mobile so it will be able to stay with the team 24/7.
Also you can’t compare the tankiness of a Jericho Command with an Empire Engineer, it’s like comparing an orange with iron ore.

Well resistances are identical, as are tanking modules in T4 and T5. Base stats are slightly better but nothing to write home about in the tanking department. Also Naga is only R14, so no fed R15 implant. So it’s not a better or even equal tank as such.
But the thing simply heals loads more with T5 heals + 20% ship bonus. And with empire R13 you can drop the stations like candy if you don’t go for damage output (3 cap slots + crit chance bonus). So you’d definitely want a Naga over a Minotaur.

Also R14 implant is quite handy, specially when a squad of 3 lightbringers are trying to take you down. And the fact that you have extra engines and capacitors can make it easier for you to survive. Honestly if the ship had +1 hull and -1 engine or cap it would be op as hell.
I wouldnt mind if it had +1 shield and -1 engine or cap tho.
