X vs T was my first when it came to the space/dogfight genre. Man I would have so much fun! I always said if I had 500 million dollars I would buy that title and just update it because it was such a fun flyer.
Now Star Conflict has come, and its a great game, alas no joystick support 
I dont know if its ok in the developer world, but I would take a good look at the controls for that Lucasarts game. They were some of the best flying days of my life and I know my fellow pilots who didnt get the chance to play X vs T would appreciate the flying dynamics, control and the ability to map your # keys to the stick would have a more pleasing and unitary flying experience.
OR. is it a case of “If it aint broken dont fix it”?

SC is more of a shooter than fly simulator. You don’t directly control your ship, you control guns and ship follows. While there is a support for a gamepad/stick it is absolutely not competitive

I have to agree with my buddy Kostyan. This game is for mostly the arcade shooter genre. IF your looking for a game that controls everything, then please look elsewhere. (Example: Star Citizen)
Or in the meanwhile try X3 albion prelude, (don’t even look at “x rebirth” it’s pure solid garbage).
This game is different. It should remain like it is in terms of controls and there is no good reason to adopt new control system, if current one is working fine.

Elite Dangerous is almost ready for the open beta, you will have to pay for it, but you will have the full game when released (like Star Citizen, but it is more advanced in the developing stage)
