XCOM 2

Get hype.

It’s managed to make it to the second place in Steam’s “top sellers” list, and it’s not even out yet.

Are you ready for invisible shotguns and ten-second slow motion shots where the shooter is off the screen?

I know I am.

I got the full game plus DLC for $55 ish.

Aaah the UFO series… I got stuck there. :fed011:

It’s out! And it’s great. It’s a lot more cinematic and much better balanced, with a whole bunch of features that are absolutely amazing.

Cosmetics are available in spades, and it’s now possible to customize everything from armor appearance to gender and nationality. Plus, aviators and cigars, for when you really need to look cool.

The combat layer is familiar but very different. Hacking, for instance, adds a whole bunch of extra risk/reward, although I do wish the difference between specialists and everybody else wasn’t as big. Snipers are actually balanced in the base game, finally, and have squadsight from the get-go. Alien scampering isn’t essentially a free move for them any more, what with concealment being a mechanism. Also rangers are totally rad, since they can SWORD ENEMIES INTO OBLIVION and still shotgun aliens in the face if the sword is a bad idea.

The strategic layer is much less frustrating than it was in Enemy Within, with more chances to get money, no dumb adjacency benefits (that otherwise restrict base-building a lot), and no missions that are mutually exclusive by design that punish you for not going on every one of them.

There’s a couple performance issues and maybe a few bugs here and there, but all in all, it’s pretty good for day one already.

I tend to look at percentages as this

100% = guaranteed hit (unless perks and xxxx)

<100% is 50% to hit  - You either hit or you don’t, hehe
