Only stupid as crap people do that ory. The enemy will regen more than you can damage if their team isn’t complete crap.
I have only see that work 1 time, and that was when I was captain and I was perma spydroned and was barely getting any health back. We had 34 vs 13 kills, but since none of our team killed their captain we lost

You have no idea the amount of times I’ve seen it happen. This happens in games where there are NO Engineers. At all. And so, these idiots fly in, drop a nuke, kill themselves, respawn and try again.
Yep, faced that as captain as well. Thank god i had my Katana S lined up. 2 guys constantly doing that, and it was back when nukes and SD had full damage and no radiation. I’ll agree with Ory on this one 100%. It’s plain stupid.

At least with the severe nerf to nukes we see less suicide bombers these days. I agree with the above though; reloading missiles on death only rewards/encourages dying.
Five second respawn is better than a sixty second wait time for reload. The option to suicide is even more tempting when you are low on health and there are no Engineers around.

Last night, I faced a CovOps that focused solely on me the entire match, I was on a Gunship. The guy flew in, dropped a nuke, SD’d immediately. He dropped half my shields. He respawned, and bee-lined straight at me again, same tactic. He did this 3 times and I didn’t die.

Very good. Do not let them reap the rewards of this silly tactic. Break their ships.
This is how we deal with issues until they are properly addressed.
Reloading missiles on death is fine with me, the only other way I would agree with, is if the timer went on after death even if I choose another ship.
If you choose another ship, then the cooldown continues, but not on the new ship. The cooldown should only continue IFF you pick the same ship. Death can keep reloading it, but that’s it.

Why?
I don’t see any reason not to allow the reload while flying another ship. It would end at most in 1 nuke every 180 seconds, that is nothing…

I preferred the old missile system. It kept some skill in place, and nukes were repeatable but limited, before the nuke nerf at least. I once died and in the damage assist I saw that one guy had done no damage but missile strikes. It was before the missile maneuverability nerf. Not one main weapon hit or debuf. Missile spam isnt too much a problem, especially since all missiles were nerfed. I just hate it when I have an incoming missile for fifteen seconds. Sometimes I just want it to hit me to get rid of the beeps!
The missile spam is sometimes a little excessive I’ll admit, but atleast my inty keeps useful throughout the whole match now, since the missiles help a lot with taking down tougher targets.

You forget about the repair costs. Is a matter of opportunity. Being alive allows you to get more efficiency and help the team while you are brawling.
If you are dead you have to respawn and go to the melee. By the time you have done that, you could have done a lot of damage with your guns, and most likely more damage than a full rack of missiles. Specially if you have a DPS ship.

Repair costs can be a factor, but I have never paid much attention to them. As they are right now, their impact is mitigated quite easily with the rewards of matches.
My policy is to stay alive and keep my overall DPS high during the full course of the battle. Even if you don’t shoot anything, an extra body on the map is a threat and a distraction. Regardless, there have been rare occasions where suiciding is a viable option, made possible by the fact that missiles reload on death.
I would like to see reload times extended through respawn, as mentioned above.

I won’t mind having the reload time extended though respawn either. By the time you respawn and reach the furball again, most of the missiles would be already reloaded, except if you fired your last missile just the second before dying.
Why the focus on missiles ? While I am not screaming for unlimited misssiles… it is what it is… when you run out… you just got to stay alive until it is replenished.
If you die… and still have lets say 3 missiles… left are you all saying that is all they will have upon respawn as well ?
As you all know ECMs, Recons and covt ops only have with those small missiles … anything else you want to take away ?
Should there be a look at limiting amount of ammo (shells) as well ?
Suicide, SD and friendly fire deaths should deduct points from you, not give them. Just because you constantly suicide against the enemy captain to take out 10% of his hp at a time, the game rewards you in more ways than one: it rewards you by not deducting any points from suiciding, it gives you tons of Synergy because you attacked the Captain, it gives you a ton of points AND Synergy for, eventually, aiding and/or killing the Captain, it even gives you medals for it! But wait, that’s not the best part! Because you died over and over again, the game now thinks you’re a bad pilot and throws you down in the queue below yours, so you can continue your mass-suicide tactics.
That seems awfully specific to the Covert Ops class, and perhaps Jericho LRFs. Typically on LRFs though, I don’t want to die, its more of a “From Hells Heart I Stab at Thee” moment to those pesky interceptors strafing me to death.
Replace the detonate power with a Death Blossom and the problem is solved.

True, but only those 2 roles are so willing to kill themselves so promptly. Other Frigates (with EM Torpedoes) tend to survive the blast and recover quite rapidly in comparison.
