You know I had 4 xxxx friends quit over your stupid patch you guys released today. If you goal was to kill your game your doing a fine job. You do know that starwars came out basically with your game built into a great mmo the same day you guys xxxx it completely up? This is me say good luck cause your going to need it when you completely ignore your core gamers. Let me give you a pro-tip from one game designer to another. When you have a fast past FPS MMO like yours, slowing it down is like shooting yourself in the foot. Here are the things in my humble opinion that would make your game tons better.
1: snipper ships? really? who the hell came up with the great idea to take a man out of the fight and sit him in the very back of the map lobbing missiles at everyone. Any team with more then two snippers over the other team looses every time. This ship type needs to be removed. They don’t do anything but slow your game down.
2:Make the ships go slower? Okay really? In a fast pasted FPS MMO who the hell would want it to be slower? If anything you need to increase the speed of all ships 20%. This isnt eve for Christ sake.
3:No missile/mines for you! Main weapons do not do enough damage for you to sit there and make us wait for a recharge on missiles. Then if you die you take away the stuff we didn’t uses? You know what this does? Slows your game down. Matches that normally last 7 minutes are now lasting 10+
Cool story bro. I’m a big fan of the Star Wars franchise, but they haven’t made a worthwhile game in almost a decade. SWtOR is an MMORPG. Also Pay-to-Win. So enjoy that. I prefer action/shooters to mindless wandering and clicking of NPC’s and glowing objects.
Star Conflict is a hard game to master. Personally, I’m not even close to the level that some other players are on. but I’m getting there. That’s what true progression in this game is all about. The developers are doing their best to weed out the spammers and cheesers in order to get the gameplay to the point where individual skills and tactics will win the majority of games. If you aren’t able to cope, then this game is not for you. It’s a game for adults, even if it is rated for teens. I’d like it if everyone were able to adapt to the gameplay, but most people aren’t capable of making sound tactical decisions in a three-dimensional realm.
There are players who like them while others hate them. Why should we remove them if a certain amount of players useses them? Furthermore we prevent noone from going into close battle with snipers.
2.This depends on the balance and in the last weeks we had many complains about Interceptors being too fast and “impossible” to kill. We will monitor the situation and if adjustments are needed, we will do them.
There were a lot of complains on missile spam and people suiciding once their ship ran out of missiles. That is not how it was intended, missiles are not your main weapon. There have always been battles with different length, but what is so wrong about a long battle?

Which begs the question: Why have we not gone back to the system that limits the number of missiles you can shoot in a match to 1 clip? Missiles didn’t really need to be fixed before, TBH.

Because this system is easier for players and for us. Before players could have very big differences in ammunition replenishment prices and now it is far easier to adjust them.
For me, personally, i don’t care, I will use any system and adapt, because everyone else here in the same boat.
Complaints about intis being too fast and impossible to kill? Lol Error, we all know Inties are weak and Aces can’t aim for xxxx. Are you guys really only listening to T1 players? Wait for them until they come to T3 and T4 and start getting all the complaints about OHK singularity and particle purge. And than all ships in the game will just carry Plasma guns like in tutorial, because everything else is too OP and all the Aces complain instead of learn the game.
Yet I am surprised so many new people are coming to the forums complaining about this (specificaly it seems lower tiers), and it looks like the devs really nailed it this time. It was only veterans they were pissing off until now with the CrapMaker™, but now they are starting to piss off new players as well. gg:)
I just hope this game will last a couple of more months, I still have my license to use up, and today we only had about 400 players online.
If the prices are the problem, just add 10.000 more credits to rewards and people can stock up on missiles as they want. Can’t you see you are pissing new players off with constant changes and ruining the game quality with this mechanic? Original method was the best, and nobody ever complained. With each “fix” because of players whining devs only create more problems. If the prices really were a problem before, increase credit rewards or lower the prices, don’t break the mechanic because of some poor f2p players who can’t even afford a missile restock!
The only thing I don’t like about this patch in the missile system is the fact that when you use one missile, you respawn with 0 with whole clip on cooldown.
The cooldown should happen when I use the last missile, not when I die. The rest is ok (modules cooldown, active cooldowns), but please don’t remove the missiles you still have left when you die.
Thanks for mentioning the digital expansion for swtor, been looking for some contemporary space dog fighting game that isn’t Star Conflict for a while now, gunna check it out. Might be a good gap filler until something better comes out.
I completely agree with you in terms of snipers and game speed though, I also dislike the missile/module changes just not for the same reasons, rather the fact that it will make it easier for impudent moronic players to spawn camp.
But I’ve stopped beating the dead horse now and realized what Star Conflict is in a nutshell and I’m not impressed.
But it’s still got an ok player base and moments of glorifying space combat, however moments ain’t enough. The rest of the time, the WoT element of the game encroaches upon the dogfighting element of the game and ruins it outright, with guards, LRFs, sluggish high damage gunships (or any non-interceptor with guns capable of hurting you at 3-4k+) blasting you down from afar and even certain abilities that require barely any skill to use such as particle purge, pulsar and plasma web take from the whole dogfighting experience and skill element that goes with it.
And if you want to be “good” at this game, you better play whichever builds work best and manage to your position/formation well (which becomes a lot easier when you’re using medium to long range weapons) which isn’t much fun because I’m not playing how I’d like to, I can’t play how I’d like to, I play how the game and other people want me to play or suffer a disadvantage, therefore I look for other games to play that suit me better.
Oh well, there are some excellent looking space dog fighters in development early access/coming out 2014 and later, there’s no need to feel bummed out over this game; I’m just going to look back and laugh about it.
Although I still think there’s a chance for this game once the next big content patch hits. Only time will tell.
I dunno. I honesty do NOT like the changes with the missile system. Feels like im being punished for dying. (even intentionally or not)
I like the original missile system where the missiles you had in battle is all you got. It was a hell of a ton more tactical battle and more realistic because you really wanted your missiles to count and if you missed, then damn, thats some wasted credits right there!
You dont have to go back to the old system where you had 2 missile types…but honestly that made the game more fun. the more complex something is, the more you have to blame for your lack of knowledge.
But if people like him come in and see the crap that this game has become…then damn.
Not to even mention 3 ammo types in T4, and so on.
See that required skill to use and the pilots that used them were overall better and more adaptable in any given situation.
I remember that if I saw any ship down to hull, I would switch my weapons to Kinetic and destroy him…but some countered that by passives and so forth. It was a far more tactical game. Now. Its so easy and grindy, its really WoT in space, and I mean that in a BAD way.
I played the WoT beta on the 360, and its EXACTLY like SC. I stopped playing after i got T2 tanks because it was absolutely no fun after a while. And granted had a really good K/D ratio. Just so boring.
I wish they just stopped with mechanics and delt with balance and gameplay.
The issue I see with the missiles is that it is xxxx-before-face backwards. It’s a system that means the player who does spawns with no missiles and has to rush headlong to attack the guy who killed him, who does have missiles and so can kill him again.
You know, as a rule of thumb it is bad game design to give an advantage to the guy who is already in the lead. This shoddy concept just gives even more power to the Guard Spammers; not only are they stupidly hard to kill, but after the first push their enemies have no missiles, mines, attack drones or singularities to throw at them!
I haven’t had much trouble with spawn cooldown system but it would’ve been better if they did it only for missles and self-destruct module (being abused in combat recon) instead of putting all modules on cooldown

Waiting for players to get to T3 and T4 is not an excuse to stop listening to T1 players. I most certainly don’t want to go anywhere above T2 because how broken the game already is…T1 by far is the most balancing tier than the other tiers…So Balanced that I mostly play with my T1 ships.

T1 and T2 are in fact most imbalanced tiers, T3 is the most balanced tier atm. Thing is in tT4-5 there are imbalances presented in specific examples like Particle purge or guards, while in T1-2 whole line of classes are way out of efficiency levels and ruled by absolutely different rules due to the lack of modules and customization that are suppose to counterweight things out.

T1 is by far the worst balanced tier, simply because there’re almost no implants, modules, anything, just railguns in fighters, plasma in ceptors and lazors on frigates, everyone blows fast, everyone kills fast.
That tier is just an initiation, if you stay there you’ll have a bad time.

Wouldn’t logic suggest to have a good impression of the game for starting out BEFORE moving up?
