Vulpanium Charges [Ammo]

Lore:

The once thought to be dead corporation “Planetary Dynamics” recently has started to dabble in alien technology. Though one might think of those green and black tentacle-monsters, these aliens are actually far more ancient by an estimated 3 billion years or so. A scout team was out scavenging for spare parts close to the Pandora Anomaly when their scanners started picking up immense amounts of noise. Upon investigation of the source of the interference, it was revealed to be a massive chunk of orange crystal that was jetting out from a nearby asteroid. The scouts did their best to extract it, but because of the crystals they had to manually navigate back to the dreadnought. As they neared the starship, their hails for entry were not heeded. A scrambled signal was received from the dreadnought and it started firing on them. The observing captain saw a glint off the side of the approaching vessels and recognised it as their own emblem. He called for a cease-fire and let them enter. The crystals had to be contained immediately upon entry, as they were burning up the onboard computers with their immense energy output. Upon further testing it was seen that they could not be contained in Iridium casing as the two materials would flare up upon getting close. This feature was rather interesting to the onboard scientists, who swiftly took samples from the crystals and began tests. Their experimentation revealed several useful factors to these strange crystals. Their energy emissions were off the charts and their reactive capabilities put out enough energy to power an entire planet! This information was taken to the captain and they immediately begun preparations for construction. They were going to be the first to have an alien reactor core. Progress was continuing as planned until one of the crystals was struck with charged particles from their old core. It immediately flared up and fired a massive beam of energy through their hull. It burnt through all but two of their outer layers, sparing the crew on-board. This amazing action was observed by none other than their military general, who made haste to speak with the scientists. With the observed information and the remaining crystals, a compact weapon was created that would surround a polished crystal with warp energy. This resulted in a magnificent, and controlled, beam of energy being fired. The corporation made haste to mine out as many of the crystals as possible, and now are selling blueprints for these mechanisms to rich mercenaries. The corporation has since continued in their research of these crystals and plans on releasing several other systems to aide in exploration and military efforts across the galaxy!

Name: Vulpanium-tipped shells

Type: Kintic weapon ammunition

*Tooltip: Kinetic ammunition with Vulpanium crystals in the tip. Increases the damage against Human ships by 5%. Upon impact with Iridium (Alien ships, dreadnought systems and destroyers) they explode violently, dealing an additional +75% of the original bullet damage as explosion damage in a 150 meter radius.

Tooltip: Kinetic ammunition with Vulpanium crystals in the tip. Upon impact with Iridium they explode violently. Increases damage to human ships by 5% and damage to alien ships by 200%. Also increases damage to dreadnought and destroyer systems.

What about making them actually explode instead of simply increasing the damage?

IMO, it’s better this way:

Tooltip: Kinetic ammunition with Vulpanium crystals in the tip. Increases the damage against Human ship by 5%. Upon impact with Iridium (Alien ships, dreadnoughts and destroyer systems) they explode violently, dealing 60% of the original bullet damage as explosion damage in a 150 meter radius.

That way, the bullets will deal 60% more damage to iridium stuff (making Resonating ammo still viable), but in a pretty big radius, making them an useful option.  Also, big ships will suffer from the explosion damage multiplier.

This is what I actually had in mind. You just said it better. XD
