Visual Damage and Performance Damage

At present, ships can be damaged slightly but still flown without auto-repairing until they reach 0 durability.

Suggestion:

Rather than grounding damaged ships until repairs are made, why not allow these ships to be flown, but instead take away synergy bonuses for every quarter of health the ship loses? For example, at 75% health, my Alligator Mk 3 would no longer receive the 33% boost to Plasma weapon speed until repaired. This is mainly for players who are short on credits or are in the extremely expensive tiers.

Additionally, create alternate ship models with visible battle damage (light, moderate, heavy, and severe) that show the extent of wear and tear. They would show up at 75%, 50%, 25%, and 0% health. At 50% health, my Reaper would be missing a wing and have several large bullet holes in the hull. At 0% health, my Reaper’s ram spike would be broken off, the engines would be pouring smoke, and half the skull at the front would be caved in.

Just throwing this out there for fun and immersion.

Alternatively, this could also be interesting to add to PVP battles, as you respawn in the same ship over and over, but the toll of constantly blowing up starts to show.

Where’s the point, everyone would just check the auto-repair checkbox and never see that feature. And those struggling for credits (does that exist?) would have an even harder time catching up. Wasted development time.

Brilliant !   Maybe lose 25% of your total Surviabilty rating of the ship each time you die and respawn within same battle.

Though I believe we have a PVP mode  (Realistic) which sort of does what you are elluding too.   once killed you lose the ship completely.

Edit:  Let me also add…    Ever been in a battle where you will have someone constantly attacking you ?   You kill them… they come back…attack you again… take you down in health a bit more … you kill them again…  in the mean time your slowly regaining your health… here they come again… full health and your sitting at about 1/3 of what you were and eventially you are not regening fast enough and will die.   They may have died 3 or more times trying to kill you but eventially it takes it toll.

A tactic used quite often by some folks.

But repeated respawns don’t add additional damage currently for all I know.

I could be wrong, but I was fairly certain I went from full health to zero on my T4 Tackler in just one match because I got stomped by a T5 squad. I’m almost sure that repair costs and damage to your ship scales with how many times you blow up in a match.

Hmm, maybe I misremember it, I don’t die that often in regular play, I just didn’t remember having to pay for repairs after every SR dropping suicide run…
