Update in Star Conflict PvP (Unofficial Discussion)

According to numerous complaints on the balance sheet and team selection in “Capture the beacons” game mode, it was removed  from the general PvP queues. This decision was made to improve the gaming experience and eliminating the need to have a few slots in the senior ranks of the ships, which needed for a comfortable gameplay in this mode. 

 

“Capture the beacons” mode is still available in SC Leagues and in “Custom match” creation.

CtB was my favorite PvP game mode… And I’ve never seen complaints, except against people who bring just 1 ship, but that hurts the team in every game mode, since that player cannot adapt to the enemy. So, let’s remove completely PvP instead of forcing people to actually bring 3+ ships. 

Too bad the variety in PvP was reduced. The game mode was good as is. Only one thing should have been changed: Maximum number of respawns is 4. Any ship can be used in the game but no more than 4 times. So if a player has only one ship then that ship can be used 4 times.

 

About the balance? Well, I don’t know the details of the MMing but this could keep this mode alive.

Such decision can’t improve gameplay experience at all. This is a horrible decision, which could have been handled in a much better way.

I also ask now, if you can remove “Igromania video”, which talks about this particular mode - Capture the Beacons, since it is no longer valid anymore.

 

This mode was one of my favorites in Tier V. I wrote numerous suggestions on how to fix this. One of them is that you can use 1 ship numerous times, up to 4 times, if you have only 1 ship equipped.

So why didn’t you just put a mechanic in place to stop these idiots playing T4 and up until they have three ships?

 

This is exactly the same issue as with squads - rather than addressing the problem, you just remove things from the game because “fixing it is hard”.

So that was the main issue? Why was the idea of the 4 time spawn rule refused at the first place then? An entire game mode is abolished without trying.

one of the themes which was actually constantly brought up, alongside the discussions, even i must have written it like 1000 times, that really nobody, nobody, nobody, understood why there is no ship minimum, 3 ships in t4, 4 ships in t5.

 

its also good for players so they learn that bringing more ships also in _other_ modes adds to their tactical ability.

 

well except the genius who puts in 4 of the same type - which is ok if he is healer, and borderline psychotic if its 4 LRF.

I like beacon battles just like I like any other battle mode.

It is a very poor choice to remove beacon battles from random pvp because of people with 1 ship.

 

Could you at least make it so that people who queue with 1 or 2 ships can’t get into a beacon battle while others in queue with 3+ ships can still get into beacon battles in regular/random pvp(skirmish) ?

the “Hammerfixing” of problems its whats in the end so disgusting

and has more correlation with people writing bad reviews, and having bad feelings in this game, than you possibly can imagine.

Of course, nobody mentions such things primarily.

 

Why I hear this then?

Coz u know they think i care because i am critical on forums. But I am constantly like that, and hammerfixing has tradition already, so…

Or just simply have minimum ships from R10+, at least 3

from R13+ at least 4

CtB is just one gamemode, it also touches others (captain ship anyone!?)

 

Having 4 choices to spawn in is part of the game mechanics, part of tactics, part of strategy, even if you do not use all the ships in all the modes.

I do not understand something. SC team can monitor the level and the number of ships participating in the tournament and sector conquest. In this mode why can’t they do this?  :015j:

I wonder, if they will remove Combat Recon mode as well. I don’t really like to the Captain at all times, you know.

I find it distasteful that some people forcefully exit the game (ALT+F4), then they reconnect into the match again, so that their Captain’s status is revoked and applied to another player.

I hope for an official answer on this one.

I never actually claimed that it was my suggestion, even though that I may have created one at least, but that one was reviewed by Doomb0t, if I recall correctly, but I am not exactly sure.

What matters is how the mode was addressed in the end.

Many people had a lot of different ideas how to fix or modify Combat Recon mode, not just me.

I think, that I suggested an artifact, which may only be picked up among top-3 selected players by the MM.

If the time limit would be reached, it would assign Captain’s role automatically to one of those’s candidates.

I can’t exactly recall all the details.

 

If you want, I can create a fresh suggestion, based on current rules, when people can once again discuss this issue.

Who is Veronica?

 

Don’t think they could possibly “fix” combat recon battles (except for forcing the captain to pick a defensive ship - which is even a worse idea, forcing and all) as I have seen people with Ronins still picking their lovely lrfs.

 

But it isn’t too late for beacon battles. Please find a fix for them instead of hammering like g4borg said.

That’s what we’re doing, it wasn’t enjoyable as it has to be in that state.

Actually, now that I think a little bit about the issue, usually the matchmaker matched an equal number of ships. For example, if one team has a total number of 35 ships, the other team has a similar number. So, actually there was no issue to fix. 

Can you please remove all the other beacon games too? they has the same issues with the 1ship aces… and the combat recon mode too.
The games are not enjoyable when the enemy captain is a destro and my captain has only 1 silent fox.
Also it is really bad when we have to capture beacons, and we have several players who only has 1 LRF.

Hmm. If you can remove the games above, I don’t think it make sense to keep a “PVP” button just for the team battle… lets remove the PVP as well.

Combat Recon is okay more or less. Well, DCing happens for sure but at least some work has been done in order to better this mode.
