Understanding The Games Problems

Star conflict is supposed to fill the empty void of this game type, not ruin it!

One of the reasons I compare it to Colony Wars is because CW had a very drop-in, drop-out feel. It had a massive campaign spanning five star systems, but the action was cut up into compact missions. You’d turn up, frag a few enemies while a cargo fleet ran for cover, and warp out. Another mission might be to frag a capital ship and you’d start the mission barely out of weapons range. It was snappy, arcade violence.

Then along comes Star Conflict and it’s the same routine. You are playing in a bigger picture - a three way war for control of a sector - but you experience it in snapshots. Your ships warp in, blow stuff up and then (presumably) warp right out again. There’s no faffing about in empty space, no twiddling your thumbs wondering if this convoy is going to get ambushed, or finding a youtube video to watch as you “fast travel” across a sector. You are in at the sharp end and getting stuff done.

Expanding from that would be nice, but unless the focus remains on quick in-and-out gameplay then this game won’t survive.

In other words: keep the mining and traveling out of it.

Issue 1: Population

What is it that has caused this games population to be so low, yet even though its a fun game (objectively, as people find different things fun)?

Is population issues related to lack of balance?

Is population issues related to lack of content?

Maybe, just maybe population issues related to ZERO, NONE, NON EXISTENT, LACK OF, ABSENT, etc Advertisement?

Show me a single official Add about Star Conflict anywhere, there are none.

No matter how you change/rework/tune/fix w/e the game there will be no population until you start advertising it, which leads us to the next point:

Why there is no advertisement campaign? I have seen WarThunder on TV commercial and I live in Canadia and I don’t even have a TV at home.

Probably Development team feels that current game is not yet ready to meet big world?

Even Servers use to go nut when we had 2500 players on-line, i don’t know if it is still the case though, haven’t seen 2500 on-line for some time myself.

The whole thread here is made on an assumption that this game is post release and its advertisement campaign already have failed to gain any population in game.

<Insert average IQ insult here for not understanding simple facts>

How about you try to understand a game and how it plays first before you do bold statements on imbalances, as of now you are on a level of new players in T1 and similar to so called tier rushers in upper tier games, you have zero clue on how to play and yet you claim all these imbalances. So far these are your personal problems or lack of skill to deal with these cases.

In other words: keep the mining and traveling out of it.

Or keep it sidelined. Look at Assassin’s Creed - it went from being a game about assassinating Templars to a game about buying shops, recruiting workers, collecting rent, renovating ships, building ports, trading goods… and occasionally you might have to stab someone.

Total loss of focus, which leads to inferior products. Stay focused, find what you are best at and perfect it, and the result is a vastly superior product. Try to cater to every kind of gamer and you get… well, what you have now; a game that doesn’t please anyone.

I’m going to go ahead and answer some of these myself. My answers are in RED

Forum rules:

You are listening a log list of things then saying lack of focus, when SC only has Combat… There is no harm in adding some other forms of game play. It will bring people to the game, increase the word of mouth, and income for the game.

Red fonts are reserved for moderation purposes.

Zerk is a GM and a Tester.

Zerk1 is not a mod. He’s a nobody - an ordinary poster who hasn’t even set an Avatar. I don’t listen to wannabie mods.

He is, why would he jump doing “mod things” being a “nobody”? He just don’t have a moderator title here in the English forum. Idk how it works, if both forums are parallel or not, but anyway his intentions were sane and friendly.

Sorry Jasan but everyone here should try to keep the thread as clean as possible and not make any kind of personal insult.

I don’t like the fact that your red stuff was removed instead of recoloured, but if we lose the manners we will not be able to keep talking about the thread.

HE use to have the title on this forum, they probably decided to keep the english and russian forum seperate, but check >http://forum.star-conflict.ru/index.php?/user/56348-zerk1/

“Right now the problem is the grind and the lack of incentive to progress. Vouchers are one the games biggest bottlenecks.”

Oh, and the warp gates in the Abandoned Outpost haven’t been fixed either. I guess we’ve all grown tired of asking for a fix.

They should just remove the stargate metal barring surrounding them, and make them just like engineer gates. Problem solved.

Have you guys noticed that the first post mentioned the guy who wanted to alter the perception of time as the greatest “developer” there? What does he meant? Did he found to be easyer to create and instal a little time dialation device on the elevator to fool ppl to think time is passing faster? I mean, isnt that like someone trying to reinvent the wheel?

Drug induced illustration put aside.

I hope another competent game developer is watching this forums and playing this game while he makes a decent game when compared to this. Game developers must realize that if at any given time someone anouces a game that is more solid than this one, they will lose all customers.

This game is filled with fatal flaws, and the ones that continua playing somehow are the stubborn ones, or the ones that have no other interesting game to play like me. And we do that just because we lack choice, if another space dogfight game apeared, surelly most of your vets would migrate there to test it, and if the other is better than this your game is gone.

Oh, and the warp gates in the Abandoned Outpost haven’t been fixed either. I guess we’ve all grown tired of asking for a fix.

What is the problem with those gates ?

Occasionally, you don’t warp forward when moving through the warp gate (even if you approach the gate head-on). If you enter the gate from an angle, odds are you’ll crash into the gate’s frame and explode. You can kill teammates or enemies by entering the warp gate together: one ship crashes into the other and dies but the other survives the collision somehow.

Star conflict is supposed to fill the empty void of this game type, not ruin it!

This remembers me what Obi-wan said to anakin while he was burning on star wars ep 3.
