U.S. Playerbase

Okay so i’m writing this thread because i’m frustrated at eu/rus partiality and how U.S. players are driven away from the game.

For USA players, a lot of us have:

Bad ping most of the time

Don’t have access to the big tournaments due to crazy times (not saturday night ones)

Half a dreadnought time zone

Most events are at odd times

AND NA dreadnoughts are at bad times

Is it any wonder why U.S. players quit? I really have no clue why this alienation of U.S. players is but it’s insanely stupid in a business sense. Devs, U.S. players have money to put into the game. It’s true. If you were to decide to actually advertise (yes i used the a word on the forums *Gasp*), Star Conflict might thrive instead of having a playerbase that is literally playing your game until star citizen comes out.

If you:

Want SC to grow

Want to make more money

Want more players to have more fun

Want SC to survive after Star Citizen comes out (cuz believe me, if Star Citizen came out tomorrow, almost nobody would play Star Conflict)

then you will:

Advertise

Change fed dreadnoughts to 7 o clock pacific time (1 hr after the saturday night gs tournaments start)

Give North America a full dreadnought time zone

Fix the broken server region settings

Make U.S. tournaments and events

Add more new content

Why:

Advertising is an investment and it will bring back more than it costs. AKA make you money.

Dreadnought time change will increase dreadnought activity.

the north american dread timezone has a handful of sectors. Sure it has a handful of corps playing, but that’s because of the stupid time.

Fixing the broken server region settings will also make the russian community happy. they don’t like playing with those “140 ping lagz” and i don’t like playing with 210 ping lags. Also, people will quit if they have to play with high ping. It’s no fun to play with 200+ ping. I am relieved when i see 160 ping because that’s usually about as good as my ping gets due to EU almost always being the server region.

Making U.S. tournaments will make the game more fun for U.S. players.

Adding more content makes everybody happy, but please don’t add stupid content like the cov ops scatter gun.

Also, Error, i made one reference to something broken in the game. That doesn’t mean you need to lock this thread and say, “Please make a proper bug report.” Seriously, that’s why i get pissed. Thanks ;)

Edited for millanbel’s sensitive eyes :P

US US US US US US, what about the rest of the continent you slefish bunny.

edit: PS: there are mor NA servers than EU servers.

And if this is a reaction to the CM hunt today, then it was also not EU time. Not sure why they chose that time actually ^^

Yeah I didn’t read the whole of your message, I got a headache after the first couple of lines, since it looks like a poem. Are you trying to imitate Halffast’s style?

k.

You should try shooting other players for once instead of spaces

I wish I could have predicted this and told you their western hemisphere promotional things begin in October, and big phat update stuff is gonna drop in December. This stuff is of interest to me also, since I’m also located nearest to servers which happen to be known as “US”. I’m on my 2nd year of experiencing the solitude in various ways too.

That AlarmTVcm Youtube channel is one worth subscribing to.

I do agree with OP though. The event times are kinda weird and 99% of battles are on non-US servers that lag.

There may be more US servers but who knows, priority is given to the RU  and EU servers it is rare 1 out of 10 games that we get a game on a US server and when we do its good ping with packet loss. If you think for a instant that there is no a bias in this game then you are sadly mistaken. As for the style of writing it makes it easier to copy it and paste it in what ever translation program they use, should anyone ever actually check the forums for anything other than bugs

When I play on the NA time zone (very late night in EU), there’s no way I’m going to get a EU server, praying I’ll get a RU.

We try to involve as many players as possible into events, but there are couple of limitations. There are a lot of different time zones and even if we only take the US into account, it has still many time zones. When we host an event we also need to make sure that we have enough officials around, which is limited due to real life jobs and responsibilities.

Dreadnought battle time:
Please use the suggestion forum and if there are enough US players that prefere this time, we will consider it.

Google for Star Conflict Dogs of War and you will see that there are a lot of pages reporting about the latest patch.

“Broken” MM:
It has been mentioned a lot of times now. Locking the MM to one region will most likely increase queue times a lot and might even cause that some players won’t find any match at all.

New content is always in work and of course there will be more tournaments in the future.

US playerbase has been since the very beginning (unless you count back when Reddit found this game and promptly abandoned it) very, very small.

I’d like that to change too.

That’s all, really.

I just wanted to write my support for your ideas.

lol error googling goes without saying. I’m talking about doing real promotions. Advertisements on web sites. I remember when SWTOR came out, i was on so many sites and i saw a bunch of ads for it. Try getting a steam ad going too.

I just wanted to write my support for your ideas.

thnx

I would love to have a larger US player base. Honestly, if that changes, most problems associated with a low US player base would go away. It would be easier to get games on US servers, and the devs would probably be more willing to create events in US times.

If what Dazarco says is true, it will be nice to see an advertisement campaign begin (finally). However, we’ll have to keep in mind that even if the campaign is successful and lots of US players join, we’ll have to wait for them to level up to T3+.

And Error, googling Dogs of War is completely different than actual advertisement. When you browse websites or YouTube and come across ads for things, that is what is needed for SC. Currently, you aren’t going to find out about SC unless you are searching for it or searching related things (extremely closely related). Steam is also a great place to advertise. I remember when SC was first released on Steam, it was put on the featured page of steam as a new release. That is the reason I started playing this game, because I saw it and figured I’d try it out, and here I am, 2.5 years later, still playing. There are plenty of players in the US who would enjoy this game, but you have to reach out to them and make an effort.

ye the only reason i found SC was cuz i’m cheap. was browsing free games.

Hi.

In addition to Error words.

About GM-hunt. Next time (October) we will try to do it later, I can’t guarantee that it will be super-convenient for USA time zones, but we will try to do it at least more convenient.

About tournaments, right now we have one big tournament here (not Russian-only tournament) and there are no applications for now, despite that we have not written exact time yet, that’s sad.

About ping-issues, yes we are aware of them, and we are sorry for that, we are trying to make it better, but it takes time and resources (I know I’m writing common words without something particular, but we are really trying to do our best to improve this situation)

As for advertisement, you can believe me or not (e.g Koromac doesn’t believe me in this case :001j: ), but we spend a lot of resources on different channels of promotion, including Steam. I have a numbers in front of my eyes which show me that these channels work, of course, we can do it better and maybe it’s not like SWTOR, but the results are improving.

USA players base is a very important topic for us, and me, personally. I really want to increase the number of American players, that’s why we are working on some decisions (nothing grand, but they probably help).

Btw, now situation with US game-streamers is not very good, if you or your friend has necessary tools and skill for quality stream or another video content, such as tutorials, or video-review about game modes, ships, weapons, teamplay etc we will be happy to see it and we will deliver support from developers.
