I know , I know guys there can be tons of fits around and anyone modifies them on his own likings to fit the gamestyle.
But I’m new at using this ship and I was wondering if someone had a pair of good , basic , working fits that I could test out and work onto to arrange one that suits me.
Sorry for not helping, but…
Fitting ship is no rocket science. go figure out what you like the best, and what works for you the best.
I know but… there must be a combination of modules that works better than others.
For instance , I know both how normal and heavy weapons feel. Now I don’t like heavies too much , but there’s quite a debate on what the best system is for a frigate: indeed I once have been suggested to use heavy rails on them. So I’d like to find out something useful.
If you wanted the Crusader or Crus-S, I’d help. I’m not helping anyone with Rank 4/7 ships on their active hangar.

I Am going for the crusader ( I want to go all the way to the last tormentor ) , but since I have to pass through this ship I’d like to fit it in a way I can enjoy the time on it.
To be honest I already unlocked the crusader , just need to make the money for it.
@ Oryngton : do you even have a good fit for crusader please? I was considering saving up moneys to get straight at it.

I’m at work, so no. In about… 3-ish hours, I might be able to deliver one.

there we go, Crus-S. Downgrade as needed. Although I’d advise an Electronic Guidance to reduce the insane spreads Heavy Plasma has.

The spread can work FOR these guns. Since they are so bad at aiming the spread can increase hit chances. Still depends on playstyle and ship.

And also to what the hell you’re shooting at.
Oryngton, I have a very similar setup, except I swap missile shield for the weapons jammer, and the EM shield resist for KE shield resist. This allows you to put your phase shield on EM and then laugh at everyone who equips plasma weapons. With the right implant setup you will easily get 100 KE resist and about 70 thermal resist. So no matter what damage type an opponent chooses, they are doing 40-50% less. Add on the Weapons jammer and they are doing only 35% damage when close in.
I also prefer heavy rail guns, just because I don’t have any T3 plasma blues unlocked. Let the pulsar and mines deal with annoying fighters and interceptors, guard frigs should focus on enemy frigs first and foremost, (engineer, Long range, guard, is my usual target priority).

You’ll be getting, 80% of the time, Thermal and EM damage. You really DO want to plug those holes as the Kinetic damage you get is laughable.
My role, as a Guard, is to defend wherever I’m sitting on. Offense is something you’ll rarely do, you’ll just be protecting the Engineers flying with you. So yeah, the less they hit me with the most used damage types, the more effective I become at defending. Missile Shield is something you WILL need in this role, but the weapons jammer is optional, I just prefer to live an extra 5 seconds whilst shooting down their mid-range ships.

I disagree. Most players using plasma have the optional KE damage type, so they can switch at will if they see your phase shield is set to EM. By putting your major resists on EM and KE, they are stuck and will always be at 50% or less damage. I can see the argument to buff yourself against all the thermal damage coming from missiles and mines and the like, but you are already taking a missile shield to mitigate some of that.
However, no matter how you set things up, EM is always the lowest resist. So rather then spend slots to dig yourself out of that hole, use the slots to plug the KE and TE types, which put you at 100 and 70, respectively, and use the phase shield to plug the EM.
No matter what you pick, you will always have one damage type that is lower then the other two. Thermal, which has the lowest DPS to start, is the safest bet. Lasers are already doing 65-70% of Plasma dps, so only having a 40% reduction vs. thermal is equivalent to 39% reduction from the baseline.
The truth is that Plasma weapons, even with the -4.5% modifier from switching to KE damage, still out DPS Rail guns with the bonus damage mod. So to forgo KE defense is to give away significant life span to any plasma armed opponent with the brains to switch damage types. I’m sure you would say, “well I’ll just switch up the phase shield” but you may not have that option due to other enemies, lack of energy or jamming from interceptors.

You’re in a Guard! The Kinetic Phase shield alone counters any dps coming from any singular Kinetic source, you’re better off blocking the EM & Thermal holes, because that IS 70-80% of the incoming damage on your shields. The Phase Shield only works ON the shields, keep that in mind, a lot of Federate Guards forget that very important point.
Besides, it’s not difficult to figure out someone’s tank. Blocking Kinetic and Thermal still leaves you that gaping EM hole the Phase Shield won’t cover when a Ceptor or two come rushing in guns blazing and your shields are nuked out of existence due to EM Plasma that you can’t block.
Trust the words of someone who’s been playing this game for longer than you. That’s what the community is here for.
@Oryngton You fitted a passive armor module on the Crus S because armor has no matter on a jericho ship… is that right? x3

Passives on the right side are all shield.
Ship modifiers on the left side are as they are. Increased energy regen hull modifier? Why not, nothing else appealed to me that much, that one sorta makes me invulnerable to ECM’s energy drain missiles and module. Your point being??..
Please. Do what I said on my previous post…

Lol I was simply wondering if that was the reason xD just curiosity =/

Far be it from me to contradict your extensive experience, but I will because you don’t get it. I set my phase shield to EM, and leave it. So my resist looks like 100 KE, 100 EM, 70 HE. If there is only one attacker, I can change it, but in general I don’t need to as I already have significant resist no matter the damage type.
Others like to spread their resist across all three types, so 60, 50, 70 is their setup prior to phase shield. While this is a good all round setup, it is not optimal. Whatever damage type you set phase shield on you are wasting 50-70 resist. Sure, if you can manage your phase shield well that set up might be better then mine, but mine requires no management.
Add in the Weapon Inhibitor, and I’m only taking 35% damage from most things.
So take your pick:
100 KE, 100 EM, 70 TE
or rotate through the following:
160 KE, 50 EM, 70 TE
60 KE, 150 EM, 70 TE
60 KE, 50 EM, 170 TE
