Tier 3 8v8 Single Elimination Tournament - October 26

I am pleased to announce the Second  Solaris 7   Star Conflict Tournament. This will be a Tier 3 8v8 single elimination tournament. You are allowed to bring lower Tier ships, but it is not recommended. Each match will consist of best 2 out of 3 games. The winners will move on to the next round.

 

 

All Rounds will be Capture the Beacon

 

 

Only the Team Captains need to sign up for the tournament. Once all 8 slots are filled you will find out who your opponent will be. In order to match teams up we will use the Custom Battle feature. Teams will switch sides after each game to make sure everything is fair. The Tournament will start @ 1pm Central Time (GMT -5).

 

 

 

I also need a couple of people to help Referee the matches. As there are 8 teams to start I would like to have 6 volunteers so we can have 1 on each side, but 2 more will work.

Yeah I can do that to accommodate the more Easterly Europe teams.

Please contact more CEOs (could be found on the corporation threat on the forum) in order to get more teams.

 

You may also offer participation to randoms.

 

They could organize themselves by the game Teamspeak server.

I have contacted several CEOs of Corps trying to get members. In fact the first tournament was postponed by a week to allow more to sign up. I don’t know Russian, so would even know which forum to post in let alone posting about the tournament lol.

4 ships per player allowed? and are premium ship also allowed?

3 ships per player to make sure it is fair. Premium ships are allowed, but not premium missiles as they have extra shots. I want the tournament to be as fair as possible for everyone.

Premium missiles do not have extra shots anymore. You are several months of patches behind the news. They give sinergy now.

 

I suggest changing the rules to 1 ship per player, as it was in official SC tournament, 3 ships makes no strategy in the team building and turns game into going for kills, takes away everything that is interesting about it.

 

I seriously suggest you reconsider the format. 1 ship per player is much better for tournaments.

Nope…going to be 3 per. I don’t care what the SC tournament did. I am not part of the SC team. As far as the Premium missiles I wasn’t aware they changed them because I don’t use them. Mk.III do the same thing, so no need to waste hard earned money on premiums.

Actually when SC run that tourney with 1 ship per person, it boiled down to kill everyone instead of tactical play over map objectives, i didn’t like it.

I had the idea that it goes based on tier.  Each player can take three ships but they have to be of the that factions main type, i.e. Fed engineers, Jericho guards, Empire gunships, etc.  Everyone starts out T1, but as you kill the other team, they get to move onto their T2 ships and finally T3 ships.  The more you kill your enemy, the stronger they get.  Could ESB defeat NASA and keep all their T1 ships?

 

One ship per player makes the games too fast.  The tournament tended to be “kill the engineer, kill the rest” and that’s boring.

Jrisom I like the idea, but would be too complicated to keep track of it all. I am a 1 man show, so I can’t be every where at once. I have to keep things straight forward so I can try and maintain a fair tournament. 

 

 

Speaking of being a 1 man show…If anyone wants to help referee (basically just be in the match to make sure everyone has the correct tier ships, and only has 3 ships) I could use the help. Referee just need to bring 1 ship (premium would be best, or tier 1) and suicide at the beginning of the match. I would also like the referees to record the matches.

If everyone orders their ships T1-T2-T3 it should be simple enough.  Good players check the map often enough to spot obvious cheaters, and combat logs are golden for going over the details of the match.

Three ships per player is fine, though it does mean matches take longer. The SCon tourney rule of one-ship-only was more of a practical choice than anything else.

 

Also, it appears that NASA will be fielding a team this time around. We have guys who can stream as well.

Sweet. The more the merrier. It was a fun time last weekend. Just need the team captain of each team that will play to Register @ http://Solaris7.org, and once registered click the Tournament link, the correct Tournament, and then Sign Up.

I would still like to see a 1 ship per game tournament, maybe next time?
