I played the game 1 years ago and managed to reach tier 8 . I have a friend who just discovered the game, we launched two game being tier 1 et THE TWO xxxx TIME we were versus tier 6 . EXPLAIN!
And when i play my tier 4 i’m against tier 4. Tier 4 has better MATCHMAKING THAN TIER 1 . IS THAT SOME SORT OF COSMIC JOKE?

There’s a reason for it, but the explaination is a bit long.
First off, what you think are called tiers are in fact called ranks. Three ranks form a tier, and there are five tiers total in the game. Tier one is ranks 1-3, tier two is ranks 4-6.
Second, matchmaking is based on actual tiers, not ranks. So if the highest tier ship you have loaded is tier three, even if all the other ships you have are tier one, you’ll get a tier three match.
Now, since the devs have infinite wisdom, they have decreed that at no point in time may a person come back to tier one after they have left. Possibly because they’re afraid Aces will be farmed. Well, they still are, but now just in tier two.
So, since you have left tier one behind you, you can’t get back in to it. Even if you equip all tier ones. And squad with someone who hasn’t.
Yeah, I’d like it to be fixed, too.

Second thing : you say matchmaking is by tier. So rank 4; 7 ;10; 13; are supposed to be cursed rank because they are the lowest of their tier? When my friend will have a rank 4 ship, should i always take a rank 6 ship when we play together , or also take a rank 4 ship to get better matchmaking?

If you play with a rank 4 I think you will have less rank 6 in the game, but I’m not sure.

And yes, those are well known to be the worst rank ships to play. Unfortunate, but true. I wish I could do something about it, but I can’t.

Some rank 13 ships are better/as good as than their rank 14/15 version (Grey Falcon,Mauler,Apolo,Dragon…)
Different playstyles although Mauler is a bit better than Inquisitor AE in most cases ;p
All other ships seem to have a fast mobile version and a slower tank/range version.
Mauler is just… Broken.
