the fun ends at Rank8

I play in US-Pacific time zone. Those who are European/ Russian time zone probably say they have no problem.

I’m trying to progress further than Rank8 level up my ships learn how to fly the new ships. But for me that seems impossible. Sure I can level up ships in PvE and/or use premium ships and transfer synergy. But whats the point, I cannot fly a T4 ship properly if I never flown one in PvP. There is also no point with T4 as there are rarely any matches, if there are matches then only during Sector Conquest against T5.

When I try R8 matches I still have to wait long get tiny matches or even with bots. During peak ours I end up on laggy Russian servers where I can only fly around but cannot hit anything.

So only option I see is to keep flying T2 (Rank 5 or 6) until one day, far in the future, they finally release the game out of beta and more players from the US play the game (assuming there really will be advertisement and the game isn’t totally broken by then).

Enny, you just have a bad time zone. In my opinion, the fun STARTS at r8, as at that point i cant just xxxx around

The fun STARTS at r8 and ENDS at r9.

Unless you’re into PvE, then T5 helps.  Otherwise, you might get lucky with R10 but R9’s the realistic end game.

I had low waits for r11 today…had a lot of fun fighting JPhack

I had very few T3 times when it was fun…

No, fun ends at rank 6. Then game is serious, everybody tends to have crapton of resists everywhere and deathsquads appear.

Not really you can have hard to kill ships in T2. But I agree with T3 the balance and game changes .

If you want a decent game in Star Conflict, you need to do the following:

  1. Acquire a full roster of Rank 8, T3 Premium, T3 DLC or T3 Pirate ships - all of these ships will be ranked as if they were Rank 8 “standard” ships.

  1. Get a squad.

  1. If any of your ships are not Empire, swap them out for Empire.

  1. Play.

If you don’t do this, you’re pretty much doomed to bad matches until you get matched alongside a group who are following those rules…

I don’t agree with point 3. I have elited all ships from rank 1 to rank 8, and almost to rank 9, and the only ones I found difficult to grind was the Rank 7 and 8 fed engineers and the Jerry torp ships. The firsts because you are always focused and the torp ships for the mechanics of the torp.

All of this playing solo, because when I play in squad I bring my premiums (just because I have them already fitted)

Even the infamous jerry tackler was fun once you find its niché in the battle.

Jerry tackler is awesome if built to have range.

  1. I have, doesn’t change the fact there are no players, the kind of ships is not the issue

  2. that only puts you up higher in queue, makes game harder and/or less likely to find a mtach

  3. I have, doesn’t matter, see 1)

Then I submit one more…

  1. Stop living in America and move to a real country.

I fly solo with Parallax, Kris AE and Styx, and of late my W/L rating has been rising. I doubt it’s my skill, because most of the wins or losses were pretty clearcut cases.

In this case, many of us don’t live in real countries =(

it not the country it’s the time zone I’m in. And the connection to the Russian servers…

When I started grinding Jericho guards, my w/l started going up.  Maybe I just helped get the interceptors to not get targeted.

The fun starts at r3-6, real fun starts at R7-9 than it skipps r10-r12 in PvE and thats where xxxx starts to get real R13-15 in Sec Con

So let me ask you guys this. When you started playing Star Conflict how was it then when you got up to T3 or try to get past it?

I’m in the game only for a couple months and most of you are in for many more months or a year.

The matches where I really have fun or work really pays of are rare. Mostly I guess I’m still trying to hard to win and get killed to many times.

I had last weekend one Domination match in T2/3 where I was the only one who captured 3 beacon. No one even tried to show up at B except 1 enemy LRF which was kill fairly quickly. Btw. we won but I wasn’t at the top because was going for objectives instead of killing a million guys.

And then I had a match with I think 7 or so in the team where 3 were LRF’s. At that point I just decided not to even bother capturing beacon, tried to defend one though.

This game heavily relies on teamplay but there is just no teamplay. And how is anyone learning teamplay with guys going only for kills that only partly help, others don’t know what to do and just run in the enemy without thinking. The T3 matches are better but are mostly also smaller and longer wait time.

And some/most of the good players don’t even bother doing PvP and do only SecCon.

It took only a couple months to get one faction up to T3 but that was with the credit grind instead of synergy.  Supposedly progression’s the same, but progression really takes a hit.  I play a lot less than I used to, but now I’m half focusing on getting all ship lines to T4.  Recently I’ve been doing a mix of PvE for synergy and credits and PvP with T3 premiums for free synergy.  I did one ship line up to R15 in PvE for the R15 implant bonus and now I barely remember how to fly that ship.

Play for the fun, ignore the grind.  The most important thing to try to learn is what your teammates are like.  Can you “trust” them or are you on your own?  If they’re all in interceptors, don’t take a guard.  If they’re engineers, take the guard.  If the ships they choose is a “guaranteed loss” from the beginning, know that you can’t trust them.  If you get a group that seems to know what they’re doing, you can turn a game planned by MM to be fair by DSR into a curb stomp.  I like balanced matches, but if your teammates show teamwork better than the other team you win.  I’ve learned that one of the worst things to do is be the first one into the action, and not because of the target locks.  It’s because you need the time to figure out your teammates.

Some people play for a shoot 'em up, some people play for strategic skill.

A decently smart choice, especially if the LRF’s weren’t protecting your beacons.  An alternative is to hope and pray the LRF’s are good and bait the other team into the LRF’s line of fire while being distracted targeting you.

T3 used to have a lot more teamwork and strategy.  Somewhere along the line, T3 became the new T2 and there’s no T4/T5 for a lot of players to progress to.  My DSR has risen more from xxxx opponents than improving skill.  Yes, I’ve gotten better, but the opponents have gotten worse.

And some/most of the good players don’t even bother doing PvP and do only SecCon.

They begged for synergy from SecCon for their T4’s and T5’s, now they don’t need to worry about T4 and T5 PvP.  It honestly pisses me off a little bit, since now to play T4 PvP you have to join a corp, and some of those players might queue for PvP if it weren’t for SecCon.  The only T4 ships I normally see are like the devs describe them, crappy players who need an advantage.  If you see a T4 ship in T3 you know he’s a good target.

Back when I started, T3 was absolute crap. The healing auras in that tier were so powerful that nobody would die unless it was 2 on 1 or they stumbled upon a nuke. Oh god the old nukes… Those were the worst thing ever I swear, especially when you got killed by your own team.

So I think I played T2 for about 6 months until they finally fixed T3 and utterly castrated T2 with that disgusting lack of energy that make everything super slow.

Oh and in my day we had to fly fifteen miles through stab rails bullets to plant the emp bomb, uphill both ways!
