Target debuffs/buffs would also be cool, but it would probably take up too much room in th display.

Anyways target distance is already shown as an HUD option. Although a CPU modifier that shows target speed would be good although quite useless unless there is a secondary effect. Maybe it could show a second target lead indicator for your secondary weapon. The second TLI would only appear if you had non-homing secondary weapon.

Guys… Above is how you show constructive criticism of a bad idea. You shave of the excrement and polish the diamond underneath.

Brilliant. Secondary tracer world be epic. So would being able to see both optimal and max range.

And as for constructive criticism; I love it. But you haven’t been giving much of it. You have for some reason just been on my case since I joined about me suggesting things that would only affect me and make my life easier. This is a crap assumption and it needs to stop. I take what experience that I’ve had in-game and try to widen the range of use for everyone that also has done what I have. If you don’t have something nice to say, please keep it to your self. Criticism is one thing; downing every idea that a person has *just because he’s that person* is another.

Most of the time there isn’t any diamond under all the garbage. There is only garbage.

Yeah, but this does bring up a good point, I think.

The ship display for locked targets in the upper left of the screen is ridiculous.  It needs to be enhanced somehow, though I have no ideas besides…well, showing that ship’s actual status?  Pretty much this entire suggestion could be realized by improving that aspect of the hud.  It should show everything about that ship if you want it to and have full customization.  Honestly, I’m a bit tired of fighting ships I know almost nothing about.  I mean sure, I know what class it is and what the build is likely to be, but I know nothing of their module status, energy levels, resists, damage boosts, etc.  The ship I saw dive out of battle moments ago (I’d be assuming he used modules) might not have used a single one.  If I lock on and engage while he’s receiving 10 buffs from his team just to find out that he has all of his modules, too, then that’s just bad luck?  No.  It’s the year 4500 or so, and I bet their sensors are pretty epic.

but you can estimate their speed anyway? i don’t see the need

This post was me adding more than I should have to the idea of having target distance in the target window, which it is not.

Well, see, part of the strategy that comes up in the game is not knowing everything about your opponent. If you see a guard far away from your ECM and not bothering you, normally you don’t pay any mind. But if you can see that hey, he has his emergency shield boost on, then just a quick flyby and stun will rob him of approximately 10k shield points. More if it’s earlier. Plus, what the hell are you going to do with knowing your opponent’s velocity?

I guess yer right. And that’s for me to know and my enemies to find out. I’m a bit of a math geek with physics and need to know velocity to do a little surprise tactic I’ve developed.

I don’t like this idea.

Not knowing what you are up against is part of fast dog fighting battles. Were this more like Eve I could see how having this information is acceptable.

With that said. Were something like this implimented it would only be acceptable if it was somehow tied into sensors. IE: it won’t show up until you are within 50% of your overall sensor range.

It could be displayed in the upper left corner, overlayed on the targeted ship preview window, below FPS and ping. Assuming those two options are enabled.
